  • EDD / Weeks + Days: Feb 4/21+2

Baby is the size of a(n): endive apparently?

    Team blue/pink/green: blue

Upcoming Appointments: October 6 routine appointment

How are you feeling?: Pretty good. I went hiking for the first time since spring last weekend since the weather had cooled down, and we did 5.5 miles (8.8 km) which felt great. It was definitely slower than usual, but it felt good to be able to do it and  to enjoy the good weather while it lasts.

Rants/Raves: I felt the first distinct kicks last week! Still pretty faint and only very low, like near my pelvis, but I was very prepared for it to take longer to feel him because I have an anterior placenta.

    Questions: none today

GTKY: what was your first vehicle? A 1989 Ford F-250 (I was born in 1991), which taught me a lot about car maintenance. It wasn’t mine really, but it was the car I was allowed to drive to and from school and extracurriculars if I put in the maintenance work and occasionally used it to pick up gravel or lumber for road repairs and home projects.

EDD / Weeks + Days: just about 19 weeks

Baby is the size of a(n): pomegranate or mango

    Team blue/pink/green:pink

Upcoming Appointments: ultrasound in 2 weeks!

How are you feeling?: A bit crabby

Rants/Raves: I'm pretty annoyed with all my diet restrictions and the unrealistic amount of money I'm expected to pay on substitutes. It's unrealistic because we have soon to be 8 people in our family and a dog on one income.  And I'm sick of gross expensive things like coconut yogurt, oat creamer, keto cereal. I want my darn coffee with regular creamer from a freaking cow and I want some cookies and bread!! I'm sick of being hungry because there are no snacks that I can eat and I don't have time to bake myself specialty snacks out of expensive flours made out of things I've never heard of. Sorry...just ranting.

    Questions:

GTKY: what was your first vehicle? 1987 Pontiac grand am. I bought it from Grandma Mona for $400 my senior year and I drove that thing for a couple years.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: Feb 23 18 w 4d

Baby is the size of a(n): artichoke

    Team blue/pink/green: green

Upcoming Appointments: Oct 7 for my 20 week ultrasound. I haven't seen baby since 8 weeks so very excited/ anxious

How are you feeling?: Very tired, headachy and anxious. My doctors have convinced me to try a very low dose of anxiety medication. They say the small risk to the baby outweighs the stress and impact on my health that is preventing me from exercising as much or eating or sleeping as well. It's too early to tell but I sure hope it helps!

Rants/Raves: hoping I feel the baby kick or move soon! Nothing yet.

Questions: I'm feeling overwhelmed with everything to buy (first baby). Any tips? Someone told me to skip newborn size clothes because they grow out of them so fast. What about postpartum stuff? Does the hospital not give you depends and pads and a peri bottle?

GTKY: what was your first vehicle? I didn't have my own car for a long time. Eventually I bought my mom's old 99 Honda civic, which I drove for 6 more years before I totaled it.
  • @skibunnie2 my babies have been small and fit in newborn for about a month. 3 of them were too small for anything bigger (6-7 pound babies) and my daughter probably fit in new born for over a month. But it's hard to say how big your baby will be until they arrive. I would maybe have a few things just in case. Maybe you'll have a better idea of the size toward the end. For pj's, the gowns are super handy and if you get 0-6 month, they should fit fine from the start. They don't need much more than jammies to begin with anyway so no need to go overboard no matter what size you start with.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 18 weeks 3 days

Baby is the size of a(n): bell pepper

Team blue/pink/green: Team green til birth!

Upcoming Appointments: Oct. 5th with another midwife. My original appointment got pushed back by a week because my original midwife had a family emergency and is out of the country.

How are you feeling?: Physically I feel great with the exception of a really bad episode of constipation. Emotionally I’m anxious because I discovered another error that my original midwife made and I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to switch to a different provider (see rant). Not being settled with a midwife or ob is definitely frustrating and anxiety provoking.

    Rants/Raves:

Rave- I started feeling moments of my baby moving. There are occasional flutters. It’s such a cool feeling.

Rant: So this weekend I had a scare. Long story short, I had intense lower  abdominal pain for over 2 hrs which didn’t improve after passing stool. So I went to the ER to get checked out. All is well and baby is doing fine. I just had a really bad bout of constipation (in spite my best efforts to eat plenty of fiber, stay hydrated, and exercise with magnesium and colace). I did discover from the emergency ultrasound that my midwife misread the ultrasound that she did at our last visit. She told me I had an anterior placenta when in fact I had a posterior placenta. This is one more error in a string of not so great interactions with that has made me decide to go fish.

    Questions: natm

GTKY: what was your first vehicle? A 2010 Honda Fit Sport - her name is Matilda. I’m still driving her.  😊 After living the first 10 years as an adult without a car, I finally succumbed to getting one because it’s not possible to live without a car in the southwest. Prior to that, I lived in big cities and strategically lived in areas with good public transport. I miss the part of city living where I had exercise built into my daily life and loved it!
  • @skibunnie2 I bought a book called Baby Bargains by Denise and Alan Fields. They go over which baby items are important and which baby buying pitfalls to avoid. They don’t get paid by companies for their recommendations. I’m a first time mom too and find their recommendations helpful.

@seeds_of_joy (Big Hug). I know the elimination diet journey can be tough.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 16 Feb/ 19 w 5 d

Baby is the size of a(n): mango

    Team blue/pink/green: blue

Upcoming Appointments: 20-week scan on Friday! I can't wait.

How are you feeling?: I'm feeling okay except I wake up every morning with an absolutely pounding headache. It goes away after coffee/breakfast/water but does anyone have any ideas about helping prevent it in the first place? It really sucks.

Rants/Raves: Rant - see above. Also, I had to have a discussion with my ex-H this weekend bc he told me that I had to refer to this baby as a "half-sibling" (after I had explained we weren't using that terminology). The pure ass-hattery of it all was mind boggling. I don't know what he ended up saying to the kids b/c they won't be back here until tomorrow, but I calmly explained how although it's technically correct, it's othering and unnecessary so I won't be doing it in my house. This is their little brother, end of discussion. My adopted cousin is just "Cousin Jane," not Adopted-cousin Jane. His half-uncle is just "Uncle Joe," not Half-uncle Joe. ::eyeroll:: Anyway, after years of work and therapy I can actually let his foolishness not bother me and just move on. But it remains annoying that I have to deal with him for a minimum of 13 more years (but who's counting?). Rave - I have been working from home for 2.5 years and I'll be teaching in person this year and it's been so nice to be back on campus getting ready for teaching. I miss people!

Questions: see above - any advice for how to prevent a pounding headache every morning?

GTKY: what was your first vehicle? I had a white Mazda something-or-other when I lived in NZ. I bought it off a classmate called Aussie John and it was cheap and I drove it around while I lived there. When I moved, my buddy sold it for me and eventually sent me the money :D I haven't had a car for 10.5 years though so it seems weird to remember when I did!
  • @skibunnie2 It's totally overwhelming. You really don't need that much for baby but you'll need a place for them to sleep and a bouncer is really handy in the early months so you have somewhere to put them down. I did a lot of baby-wearing so having a carrier is useful at first as well (I loved the Baby K'tan for the early days when they're still curled up like a little frog). As for newborn clothes, my kids were both tiny and fit into NB stuff for a while. Size up if you're going to use cloth nappies (they have big fluffy butts). I second the sleep sacks/swaddle sacks. If you want to breastfeed or try it, it's useful to have a pump right at the beginning because when your milk first comes in it can be plentiful before it regulates to what baby is actually eating - if you can grab that extra milk for your stash that'll help. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, just a hand pump would do. I'm sure there are other things but that's what comes immediately to mind.

Oh yeah! One postpartum thing you can get are like... pee pads? For when you're potty training animals? Just to put under you in case you have leaking issues. Also, you can sleep on them near the due date if you're worried about your water breaking or something. Mine did with both of my previous labors and it basically just felt like I peed myself so not that big a deal :)
  • @Paturkey that's really unnecessary of your ex to say. Almost every single one of my mom's siblings are "half" siblings because of blended families and she never refers to them as that. They are her brothers and sisters and I have a billion half cousins who are my cousins. My own sister is technically my half sister because of the whole sperm donor doctor daddy  incidents but I don't refer to her as my half sister. Of course your children will understand how genes and parentage work but they don't need it drilled in their heads that their relationship is any less significant with the new baby. He sounds like a pain in the butt.  As for the headaches, my only solution is drinking more coffee and water. 😆 At least it helps.

Ive been getting the same headaches as you every day. I don't want to rely on Tylenol but cold compresses help a bit and so does a peppermint oil roller. I do those for 15 minutes before getting out of bed and it makes the wait until the headache dissipates a bit more bearable. My doctor said it's uncommon to have headaches in the 2nd trimester and encouraged me to take Tylenol when I need it. Let me know if you find a better answer! I know how awful they feel, hope you feel better soon!
  • @seeds_of_joy Exactly! Thanks for the support. I sent him an article written by an adult woman about how it's offensive to her (she has a half-brother) but for him it's that he's still BIG MAD that I had the audacity to have another kid and so he's finding every reason to start with me about it. He actually told me that *I* was being disrespectful and offensive for not respecting the principles of our parenting plan. His argument is that since we agreed that we would only use the terms Mom and Dad to refer to us and not step-parents/bonus parents/ partners, that meant that I'm somehow required to use the term half-brother? GTFO of here with that nonsense. I normally don't even bother and just ignore him but I wanted it to be very clear that I was not doing that in my house and the kids should be supported to develop unique relationships with each of their siblings. Anyway, I appreciate your support. He is a PITA  😂

I'm so sorry you're dealing with so much food drama. I can't imagine how stressful and frustrating that is! All I can say is I hope it gets better for you soon <3
  • @Paturkey that’s wildly uncalled for! Everyone I know who has half siblings (that they knew while growing up; the ones they discovered as adults are different) refers to them as their siblings. It’s definitely not fair of him to use your kids to express his personal resentment of your life without him.

I’ve also been having headaches most mornings, I think because of the changing seasons and allergies and not sleeping well. I’ve been setting my alarm about half an hour early and drinking some water, and not getting up til my normal time. The extra hydration first thing seems to be helping some, and by the time I eat and have my coffee, I’m usually able to skip Tylenol.

@skibunnie2 I’ve been debating the same thing about clothes, especially since my husband and I were very different sized babies (9lb3oz and 6lb7oz) and grew at very different paces, so we don’t have any idea how big to expect this baby to be. I think we’ve settled on just getting a bunch of hand-me-downs from some friends and family to start, and going from there, though I know that’s not an option for everyone. For safety reasons, we’re not using hand-me-down or thrifted car seats or mattresses, but pretty much everything else is fair game.

I’ve also been told to ask during the L&D tour what’s provided. One friend accidentally had bought duplicates of things she definitely didn’t need, and one at a different hospital had assumed she would be provided with more than she was to go home. Both of them recommended adult diapers rather than maternity pads though.

@seeds_of_joy I’m sorry you’re going through so much food trouble, those specialty foods are definitely pricey and often unsatisfying. Have your symptoms improved at least? And if they have, do you have a plan to reintroduce foods 1 by 1? Sometimes the food sensitivity tests give false positives if your system was really thrown out of whack, so most people I know who have done the restriction diets would slowly reintroduce foods once their symptoms were gone so they could be sure which specific foods were causing the issues. Like if dairy really was making you feel terrible but gluten wasn’t really giving you much trouble, you can at least go back to regular, cheaper bread and pasta.

@fertile-turtle it's not so much that the foods trigger anything. Whatever my initial gut health problem is has caused gallbladder issues and that's the only thing that hurts occasionally now and that seems to be triggered only by saturated fats. I suspect that some of my nut allergies are false and I hope to see some of the other allergies disappear when I have bloodwork in a few months. I doubt wheat will ever go away because most people do have an allergy to it but it's a mild one according to my tests. So basically I plan on sticking to this diet until the bloodwork reveals different results, then yes, I'll eat the things I can eat again. It's a very costly program I'm following and I really don't want to get my gallbladder removed so I'm sticking to it as best I can...even though it sucks. 😜. I found a new way I can drink my coffee this morning and it's actually good and includes dates which are wonderful for pregnancy! So I'm good now.

Also, I totally agree on hand me downs for babies as far as clothes and a few other things too. I'm all about hand me downs for myself even.
  • @Paturkey Well he can f right off, can't he 🙄 How petty is a grown man even allowed to be? 'Uh I'm salty my ex has another baby, I have to make sure our mutual children don't consider the baby a 'real sibling''. In no way is that covered by an agreement not to call new partners 'mom' or 'dad'. Good grief! Sorry you're dealing with one of those...
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 19w 3d

Baby is the size of a(n): mango 🥭

    Team blue/pink/green: pink

Upcoming Appointments: October 6th for my anatomy scan! Can’t come soon enough!

How are you feeling?: like a few of you already said - the morning headaches are killer. They’re not the worst I’ve ever had but just an achy annoying feeling! I’m also still so tired! Is that normal? I can still nap everyday if I’m able to.

Rants/Raves: I’m pissed off 90% of the time. I think for valid reasons most of the time😅 but little things have really been setting me off. I’ve semi cut off my friend for a comment she made to me about my diet based off of a Instagram reel I shared 🙃. It was about wanting to eat healthy and baby just wanting fast food - I thought it was funny. She felt the need to educate me on my health. Mind you she doesn’t specialize in anything medical/health and has never had a baby. She also lives in a different state and I don’t see her often so she doesn’t know what I eat on a daily basis! I replied to her with a sarcastic comment and then have ignored her since. Just a couple texts and a phone call. But it still pissed me off. I also blew up at my sisters on our family vacation but that’s a longer story lol.

    Questions: none atm

GTKY: what was your first vehicle? Not counting the family car hand-me-down. My first car I bought with my own money was a Saab 93 hatchback named Saabrina. Wasn’t reliable at all but she got me most places haha. The first Valentine’s Day my husband and I were dating he replaced a part for me and then two days later she blew up for good! Everybody has a Saab story lol.
  • @seeds_of_joy somehow I had missed the gallbladder issue. That’s miserable, and I feel your pain. I had to have mine removed when I was 19 and really fatty or greasy food is still challenging at best, although it’s not painful, I just need to be aware of my bathroom options 😅. Pregnancy can also mess with your gallbladder, so hopefully between the food restrictions and pregnancy being temporary, you’ll be able to avoid having it removed, but if it does become unavoidable, it’s at least laparoscopic and not a terrible surgery or recovery. Good luck, and hopefully your next round of blood work shows some healing and you can lift a lot of your worst restrictions!
  • @fertile-turtle it probably is because of pregnancy. I had 10 pregnancies all together and 3 ended in miscarriages within a year of this one so it probably caused a lot of complications. Hard to say what caused what but I'm glad to be getting healthier through this pregnancy and not worse off! I know some people have theirs removed and it works out great for them! It probably depends on the issue.

@paigemm23 I would probably be highly annoyed by comments too. Instagram is supposed to be a place you can freely joke around and share photos, not a teaching and correcting opportunity for people to give unsolicited advice to vulnerable and hormonal pregnant women. 😵‍💫😂
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 19+0

Baby is the size of a(n): Mango

Team blue/pink/green: Team blue 💙 I'm calling him Max in my head and hoping my bf will grow to love it before february 😇

Upcoming Appointments: Anatomy scan early october, very excited to see him again!

How are you feeling?: Headache (possibly also to do with playing 5 hours of tennis in 30 degrees every day), tired (same) and, oh my lord, the pelvic pain is killing me - again, also possibly related to the tennis... But still!

Rants/Raves: I have nothing to rant about (apart from my body pains and headache). Enjoying life at an all inclusive resort in Crete. Life's pretty decent!

Questions: So... I've been feeling life for maybe a week and a half, just flutters, no distinct kicks. I also got to a point where I felt it during the day, not only at night when I was at rest. And then suddenly... quiet for 4 days. I'm at a tennis vacation, being super active, so it might partially be because I'm not attentive to it. But... It's normal, right? It's just that he has turned around and lying somewhere else or something?

Also, does anyone use a trochanter belt? Does it help you?

GTKY: what was your first vehicle?
My current and newly bought Skoda Enyaq. The cars I drove previously have not actually been cars I owned. I'm a first time car owner at 31, which is super normal, actually, in this bike obsessed country of mine 🤣
  • EDD / Weeks + Days:  20 weeks

Baby is the size of a(n): paper airplane

Team blue/pink/green: green. I really feel like baby is a boy though. I guess we will see.

Upcoming Appointments:  anatomy scan October 7

How are you feeling?: heartburn so much heartburn. Just keep waiting to feel better and  it never happens. Still getting super nauseous at night.

Rants/Raves: rave is that I got to go to the Sunday night football (NFL) game with my family because my brother has season tickets and we had a blast. I was nauseous and exhausted by nights end but we had a good time.

Rant is insurance issues. Got new insurance with my job and canceled my husbands insurance because it sucks. But my insurance thinks my husband and son have other insurance coverage so they haven’t paid any of those claims but somehow have been paying mine with no issues. Insurance is a headache

    Questions: none

GTKY: what was your first vehicle?  My first vehicle was a 1991 Honda Civic with a manual transmission. Learned to drive on it and it became mine when I was 16. Had it all through college and then the bumper started falling off and it needed some work so we sold it. So sad. I bought another civic when I got my first job out of college and ran it into the ground too. Civics are good cars.
  • @justkp sounds normal to me! I felt flutters at 11 weeks because one becomes super sensitive to them early on after so many pregnancies and they would come and go on and off and there were weeks where I felt nothing. I really only feel her move when I'm resting (which isn't often) but at this point it's more like a wiggle than a flutter.

@skibunnie2, I did a lot of searching online to see how many clothes I might need in various sizes. For newborn, I read that they may grow out of them within a couple of weeks, so I definitely am trying to buy the bare minimum needed. I saw one site that suggested 14 newborn outfits (2-3 outfits per day) and mostly onesies and footies. This also depends on how often you plan to do laundry. Also (first time mom here), I need to remind myself that newborns often dress in two layers for the upper body. Currently, I have seven newborn outfits. I might get a few more.
  • @Paturkey peppermint oil has been my go-to for headaches. To be fair, I haven’t had them daily lately though. When I was having them daily it was peppermint oil and a nap when I could sneak one in.

@seeds_of_joy food stuff is hard. I hope you are able to find some balance soon and some normalcy. When I was previously eliminating foods it was super frustrating so I get it. It’s exhausting. I hope you find some relief soon.

EDD / Weeks + Days: 20w1d or 20w6d according to my last ultrasound. Idk currently which one counts. I’m currently just sticking with my original.

Baby is the size of a(n): banana

    Team blue/pink/green: blue 💙

Upcoming Appointments: Monday with a MFM dr for a 2nd 20w ultrasound

How are you feeling?: overall, pretty good. Nervous about Monday but also a sense of peace knowing God is in control.

    Rants/Raves: n/a

Questions: has anyone else gone to a MFM dr after a 20w scan? If so, did you end up staying with the MFM dr or go back to your regular care? I know every situation is different depending on outcome. My midwife had to refer me because of a potential issue they saw on the 20w ultrasound, so now I feel like I’m in limbo.

GTKY: what was your first vehicle? 95 Ford Taurus I bought from one of my dad’s friends. I loved that car.

Baby is the size of a(n): Endive

    Team blue/pink/green: Blue

    Upcoming Appointments:
    October 21

How are you feeling?: Hungry! Large. I still have pretty bad tailbone pain, and my round ligament pain seems to be getting worse. I've also noticed my asthma is getting worse, and I'm out of breath walking up and down stairs. I don't know how much of this is fall allergy related vs being pregnant.

    Rants/Raves:
Rant—Work. People have been frustrating me a lot at work. Also, I don't know how to tell people that I'm pregnant without just blurting it out awkwardly. I still need to tell my team and prepare for my 26-week maternity leave. It's a bit more difficult since I manage a team of 8 and will need to find mentors for them while I'm out. Raves—The 26-week maternity is definitely a rave. I've been feeling small kicks recently (I think). They feel like waves inside my lower stomach. Finally, I'm no longer anxious all the time and can try to enjoy being pregnant. I went danced for an hour last Friday and three hours last Saturday. I had lots of energy and did not hold back. I think pregnancy has taken a huge mental toll on me, and that finally is gone.

    Questions:
Do you know of any standard/holiday sales coming up that would be applicable to large items (strollers, car seats, cribs, etc.). I'm in the US. I don't know if these types of items ever go on sale, but was wondering if Black Friday might be my best option.

GTKY: what was your first vehicle?
My first vehicle and all four of my vehicles have been Hyundai.
  • @karbaud that's awesome that you get 6 month leave!!! I sure hope so about black Friday sales. It's been almost 12 years since I bought any new baby big items and he was a spring baby. We got rid of almost everything and I need a crib, stroller, carseat, high chair, etc too.
  • @itsjess627 I think it totally depends on what they determine at the u/s. I had my scan done with my last baby at MFM because that was policy for Kaiser because I was over 35. They saw what they they thought was an omphalocele (intestines growing outside of the body) and because that is associated with other defects including heart defects and slowed growth I stayed with MFM and had scans every 4 weeks with them and only saw my ob again at 36 weeks.

I will be thinking good thoughts for you. I know how nerve wracking it can be when you find out something might not be quite right and you have more questions than answers.
  • @angbaby83 thank you for for sharing your experience and the well wishes I appreciate it 😊
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 20W

Baby is the size of a(n): Belgian endive?

    Team blue/pink/green: blue

Upcoming Appointments: Thursday AM for my anatomy scan and a check up!

How are you feeling?: TIRED. I’ve also been getting the headaches and still feeling randomly sick to my stomach on and off. Another thing is my side sleeping, which I’m normally a side sleeper anyway. I’ve been starting to get crushed shoulders at night and that numbness on my abdomen when I sleep in certain positions. See rants…

Rants/Raves: Rant- why the heck are pregnancy sleeping pillows so freaking expensive?? To help my shoulders, I’ve been thinking of either getting a regular body pillow or just investing in another yoga bolster- something I can use post-pregnancy that’s generally cheaper. Another rant- so sick of late summer heatwaves. This can end anytime now!! Rave- my husband is in the process of  landing an awesome remote job finally!! I might be free to be a home mom for a while longer- woohoo!! 🎉🙌

Questions: nothing I can think of right now

GTKY: what was your first vehicle? The first vehicle I bought myself was a two door Toyota Camry in a sporty red! It was also the first (and probably last) stick shift car I’d like ever driven! It was a pretty great car, but two door cars are a thing of the past for a family of four (soon to be five)!!!
  • @seeds_of_joy Thank you!!! This is the exact sort of experience I needed to hear. I heard so many go from 'nothing' to 'daily', and the fact that I stopped feeling him at a point where a train a bit much made me super paranoid!
(Also I feel like I should pay you a therapist fee at some point, you always manage to calm me down. I appreciate you 💙 )

@paigemm23 Definitely with you on the nap thing! Everyone says it should be better in 2nd tri, but judging from replies here we it is not too uncommon to suffer from all pregnancy tiredness. (Better than all pregnancy nausea, right? 😅). I hope you get to take some naps!

@karbaud Oh my asthma got worse lately as well! And I usually only have summer allergies. So it might be pregnancy related? 😊
  • @justkp you hit the nail on the head with my ex 😂 I agree w PP that it's normal to feel movement and then not. My MW said that the movement should be regular from 24 weeks onward and before that not to worry. I haven't gone the car route here but my cargo bike has revolutionized my life! It's a Christiania so I'm sure you're used to seeing them around you. Enjoy Crete!!

@angbaby83 I miss going to NFL games so much! I'm so glad you had a good time. I am another Civic fan over here. My mom had a '98 we called Bessie (she did not call it anything) and she drove it forever and I'd commandeer it when I visited home. Love that car.

@itsjess627 thanks for the peppermint oil tip, sounds like a bunch of you are suggesting that! I had a higher risk NT scan result (but NIPT was fine) so I'll be seeing a specialist for my 20w rather than the MW. They said I would have been referred if they saw anything at the 20w scan so if you have a higher risk result at 12w they just send you to the consultant in the first place. I'll be staying with the MW for the rest of the pregnancy unless they find something that makes me higher risk. Keeping my FX for you that everything looks great on Monday but I'm sure the wait will be stressful <3

@karbaud I'm so glad that you're feeling better and can enjoy your pregnancy! I am hoping for Black Friday sales for bigger items.

@cpk3535 Good luck at your scan tomorrow! So exciting and oooo I really hope YH lands that job. Sounds like a great fit for your family.

To all - gah! So many of us have the headaches! Thanks for the tips - I'll give the peppermint oil a go. Hoping we all feel better soon.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: Feb 1 - 22wks

Baby is the size of a(n): Tomato/Coconut/Papaya

    Team blue/pink/green: Blue

Upcoming Appointments: My next regular appt is October 13th and I have a growth US on October 27th

How are you feeling?: Kind of overwhelmed. I am finally back to "normal" after our three busy weeks of weddings, school starting back up, traveling, and back to school payroll processing for work. My office looks like a bomb went off in it, but I am hoping the next few days I can just put my head down and get to work on filing and cleaning. I feel so behind here and am hoping I am able to catch up and be more active in the group. Physically I am feeling a bit better, my OB was able to do some manipulation yesterday to help with my pelvic/pubic bone pain, so I am hoping that the relief lasts.

    Rants/Raves: See above.

Questions: I really want a new diaper bag for this baby and I am going back and forth between a Petunia Pickle Bottom and Itsy Ritsy. Any thoughts either way, or one that I might have forgotten? I currently have a JuJuBee and want to switch brands.

GTKY: what was your first vehicle? I had a Dodge Intrepid. Thing was a boat lol.

  • @tessiesmom26, welcome back! My parents had an Intrepid. I hated driving it because it was so large! Lol

I think I’m going to buy a Ruvalino diaper backpack. It has good reviews and is gender neutral so it would work for both my husband and me.

The Petunia Pickle Bottom designs are cute and elegant. I like the compartments in the Itzy Ritzy a little better.
  • @skibunnie2 my daughter fit into NB clothes for a couple of months, and she was just under 8lbs. I think it's worth having a couple packs of the plain onesies just in case, and I echo  @seeds_of_joy about the  gown style PJs. They fit in those for so long! As far as PP supplies, I would look at some frida mama suppliesm they have so many PP packs. At least their peribottle. I would even bring that one to the hospital, it's so much better than the one they give you. Buy big pads, or depends (whatever you prefer), and some tucks . But the hospital will supply you with some as well. Take all you can! If you're feeling ambitious, you could look up how to make padscicles. I used them for a whole week.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: Feb 26/ 18+3

Baby is the size of a(n): artichoke or sweet potato

    Team blue/pink/green: blue

Upcoming Appointments: my anatomy scan is a few weeks into October. Excited for that!

How are you feeling?: really good! Achy back here and there, and some pelvis pain with some movement, but over all good!

Rants/Raves: I can't remember if I shared this last week, but I have finally decided on a vaginal birth. I had such a hard time picking, but my OB walked me through both worst case scenarios, and we figured since I've already had a 4DT, I know the recovery, so why go through a surgery if we don't even know if it's necessary. I think I'm feeling at peace with my decision, and I'm sure as time goes by I'll feel better and better.

I also just started pelvic floor PT, so I know that will help.

    Questions: NATM

GTKY: what was your first vehicle? 1998 gold Nissan Frontier. Loved it at the time, but quickly got rid of it after highschool.
  • Thanks @nwshay
I should have added that we live in a very small town with limited supplies and no baby store. Shipping even from Amazon takes a week minimum, so I feel like I need to be well prepared. I just went through the clothes I've bought and received as gifts and have very little in newborn and 0-3m so will stock up!

I was looking at the Frida postpartum kits but they seem very pricey. I think I'll get their peri bottle and will buy some depends and pads and tucks separately. Thanks for those tips!

  • @cpk3535 I love my big fat body pillow! I've never had a pregnancy pillow and used a floppy squashed body pillow until this time around. I think my new one is actually just a nice big king sized pillow (I'm short). It was probably $10.

@nwshay glad you made a decision you feel at peace with!! ☺️
  • @fertile-turtle I don’t know if you are still looking for resources on nitrous oxide, but found a great resource on the use of nitrous oxide during labor with this website. https://evidencebasedbirth.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nitrous-Oxide-Handout-2020.pdf

It’s written by a Nurse Researcher with a PhD, RN.

Overall, I’m impressed with this website/ resource to help me develop an informed decision on conventional interventions with Labor and Delivery.
  • @ttc3y I definitely am! Thanks for sharing, and for thinking of me. The whole site looks great, and very in line with how I like to approach decisions.
