Baby is the size of: lime?
Team blue/pink/green: finding out (soon!). I don’t have a preference but I have a girl “feeling”. Last time I had a boy “feeling” and I was right.
Upcoming Appointments: NIPT and NT scan Friday this week.
How are you feeling?: the extreme exhaustion is gone, but the nausea is ramping up. Threw up multiple times yesterday and first thing this morning. I need this to be over.
Rants/Raves: we told our closest family (both sets of parents and my siblings) over the past couple weeks, feels good to not have to hide it anymore! Everyone’s so happy. Telling work today, wish me luck.
    Questions: not right now.
GTKY: What is your favorite fall activity? Hmm. We don’t really do a lot of seasonally specific activities. I’m enjoying that it’s not so friggin hot anymore.

    EDD/Weeks+Days: April 1 or 2; 12w2d or 12w1d

Baby is the size of: tiny human

    Team blue/pink/green: Pseudo-green

Upcoming Appointments: outside of me weekly RI appointments, nothing until 2nd week of October!

How are you feeling?: I am feeling SO much better. I'm pretty sure nausea is all but gone, with maybe on occasions that I get shit night's sleep which unfortunately happens a lot because bébé doesn't think mama needs to sleep. Grrrr. There's be plenty of time for that later! Anyways, I am exhausted today from being on-site at work all last week + having a really busy Saturday filled with errands and friend visits, so I've decided to take today off.

Rants/Raves: Our NT scan was today, and it combined with 1st trimester blood work, put us yet again in the clear for genetic issues (these are all still screening tools, however). We're still waffling on amnio. I need to do more research on that + talk to a friend who had it done. It will give us a lot of information that could be good from a preparation. I'm not longer worried about the monogenetic issues; but there are plenty of syndromes / issues arising from micro-deletions that I feel like would be good to know. I dunno.

Oh, and we finally heard the bebe's HB on the home doppler. It was SO cool. I think that's gonna come in clutch since I have anterior placenta, so I probably won't feel the baby kick until around 20 weeks.

One more thing... I told our HR partner about the pregnancy so now I start looking into my leave options. I won't tell my manager until mid-October though. I really want to be squarely into 2nd tri before I disclose to my team / manager.

    Questions: nah

GTKY: What is your favorite fall activity? Difficult to answer since fall = summer in coastal California. So, I'll abstain.

@etnyah good luck with the work colleagues as well as the testing at the end of this week!

  • @acleverusername thank you!

Re: amnio and my thought process, in case it’s helpful: My personal decision regarding not wanting to do amnio in almost any scenario is that the miscarriage risk as a result of amnio, although extremely small, is higher than many of the condition risks, especially if screening tests come back low risk. And, if amnio results don’t change your pregnancy plans re: termination, even if you’re high risk, there’s no point as I’ll find out either further along in the pregnancy or after birth anyway. Not worth even a microscopic miscarriage risk imo. The only scenario I’d personally do amnio was if baby was high risk for something that could be treated in utero after a diagnosis.

Baby is the size of: as tall as a Rubik's cube??

Team blue/pink/green: was team pink but found out this week, it's a boy! (It's exciting to say here because we're keeping it a secret from family and friends until the shower)

Upcoming Appointments: appointment with our midwife and an ultrasound next Tuesday!

How are you feeling?: To be honest, I was feeling a little disappointed after finding out we're having a boy and really wanting a girl. Also feeling guilty for having this feeling at all because I am just over the moon that this pregnancy has been so easy and my baby is healthy and growing. My husband's been great though by validating my feelings of disappointment but still helping me get excited about our baby boy by using his name and agreeing to pick out some outfits with me tonight! I'm sure once he's here I will look back at this feeling at laugh at the fact that I could feel anything but love for this baby♥️

Rants/Raves: I guess the above comments are raves about my husband. He's been great and supportive and makes me even more excited for our baby to be here.

Questions: my big question right now is how am I going to keep the baby's sex and name a secret until the shower 😆

GTKY: What is your favorite fall activity?
Eating soup and drinking hot drinks 😍 except I'm sad I can't have honey citrus mint tea from SB!
  • @mcmanda4321 gender disappointment is a real thing and there is nothing wrong with it! You are totally allowed to feel disappointed in not having a girl. Doesn't mean you will love your little guy any less ❤
  • @mcmanda4321 tips for keeping baby's name and sex a secret before a shower: invent a ridiculous name for each sex and start telling ppl what they are. The challenge here is that you really have to do a great job acting. Like, our choices are Barack Nixon [Last Name] and Ruth Bader Melania [Last Name] and I keep saying things like "we really want to name our kids after strong ppl. Yes, Nixon's got the whole Watergate, BUT he also created the EPA. And yes, a white kid can be named Barack. It means 'blessing' in Arabic." & "Melania is such an enigma and a portrait of strength. She refused to move into the White House with DT right after the election because she was renegotiating their prenup. That's BALLSY."

    EDD/Weeks+Days: 4/2/23/ 12w4d
Baby is the size of: plum
Team blue/pink/green: I think it’s a girl, def finding out as soon as possible, don’t care either way!
Upcoming Appointments: 1st actual doctors appt, my office is super busy and couldn’t get me in sooner. Already had my labs and ultrasound done though
How are you feeling?: still awful, I was given anti nausea meds and they worked for about a week, but it’s coming back while still taking them.
Rants/Raves: I can’t stop losing weight, I’m overweight to begin with so it’s not as bad as it could be, I have pretty much thrown out any pregnancy eating rules just to be able to eat. And I’m still down 4 more lbs (around 15 total) even after starting the medicine.
Questions: where will you be registering/ buying baby goods? The last time I was pregnant past 12 weeks babies r us was still a thing.
GTKY: What is your favorite fall activity?
I am in the Midwest so pumpkin patches and apple cider donuts is the best part of fall
  • @yelaklu13 So sorry about the nausea, that’s horrible! Are you taking zofran? I was taking B6 and unisom before and it helped a little, but not nearly enough. Zofran is so much better. If that’s what you’re on and still puking… hugs. Hopefully it’ll be over soon!

I’ve started an Amazon registry. I don’t need much this time around (kept most of my son’s baby stuff) and I’m not going to have a baby shower, but at a certain point, they give you 20% off everything left on your registry. It’s a great way to get some cheap stuff. And you can put anything on there, not just baby stuff!

@yelaklu13 why are you suspecting a girl? Re: registry, I started one mostly just to keep track of things we want to get (no shower for us), but our intention is to buy as much as possible second hand on Marketplace (you know, within reason... i.e. not cloth diapers / bottles), and also BLACK FRIDAY!!! (April is truly the best time to be having a baby!) I'm using Babylist for my registry. I figured despite not wanting ppl to get us stuff, parents, aunts, uncles and other stubborn people will still want to and I'm just not gonna fight that fight.

  • @etnyah they gave me bonjesta which is essentially B6 and unisom, Zofran wasn’t even on the table. They mentioned that something wasn’t covered by my insurance, not sure if it was Zofran they were referring too. I go back Wednesday, so I’ll see what they say. I wasn’t really paying attention when the nurse was talking since I was trying to keep down the glucose test drink. I got rid of all my old baby stuff ages ago so I do think I’m going to have another shower and this is my fiancés first so he wants his family to have a chance to celebrate

@acleverusername not sure, maybe because I’m so sick, but with my daughter I just had a feeling and was right, like with her I never felt connected to boy stuff or names, my last pregnancy that I lost I just knew it was a boy (never found out), but this one I just feel more connected to a girl. 50% chance that I’m completely wrong though! I bought a lot of great stuff second hand with my daughter mostly because I was very young and very poor(like choosing between food for myself or daycare to work poor). For this one I am at a point where we are beyond financially secure so I definitely want to take advantage of that and the choices of products that come along with it, but there will be a ton of things that I will not be buying at all that ended up being completely useless
