Hey y’all, I’m expecting a 10 pound baby boy within the next few weeks, and currently the only baby clothes I have are hand me downs from friends any family. Most are very small since nobody expected me to end up being this big.
So if the baby does end up being 10lb plus, can I expect him to fit in normal newborn clothes? Will premature sized onsies even fit him long enough to get home from the hospital?
Re: Baby boy too big for clothes?
I had a ton of newborn clothing. Daughter ended up being 8lbs 12oz. She wore new born clothing for barely a week.
Went home in a 3-6mo outfit. She could get into the newborm size just enough to take pics of her and send them to people who gave the clothing.
After that it was 3-6 months and was 18+ months ahead on the "baby sized" clothing.
It's really all based on height. If baby is over 21-22", they may not fit in newborn.
That being said, ultrasounds can often be far off. If you have a family history big babies, that's a good predictor of size.
Less is more when it comes to newborn clothes...you can almost always easily buy more if you need to.
