GTKY: Do you have pets, and if so what and what are their names? (Bonus for pictures!) If you don't, what would you have as a pet (realistic or not, dinosaurs and unicorns aren't off the table).
I love talking about my dog so here I go! We have one lovely lady, her name is Charlee. She’s an 8 year old shar-pei mix and has been with us for almost 3 years. I’m thoroughly obsessed with her! I took her camping with me and my parents this weekend and she was such a good dog. I’m excited and a bit anxious to see how it goes when baby comes home.
I also love talking fur babies! Lupin is our 3-year old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix. His demeanor has softened drastically since he’s caught on that I’m expecting; he’s really toned down the puppy level excitement around me. Millie is we think 4 or 5 and a lab mix. She’s our sweet rescue girl who’s learned how to be comfy and confident since living with us. I have a major fear of baby boy having any pet allergies when he arrives. Both me and husband have always had dogs since we were little and can’t imagine the heartbreak if there’s an issue for baby. Anyone else have this worry?
This is my 3 year old first baby! Remington is a bichon/Maltese mix and I brought him home without the full consent of my husband when he was working months out of town at a time lol my husband really wanted a hunting dog so I named him Remington! He was a complete spaz until I paid for personal training! We did 2 hours every 2nd Friday for about 5-6 months when my son was first born because I literally could not handle the baby and the wild dog. Doing the 1:1 training was literally the best thing ever! It gave my pup and I some time without the new baby and helped correct all the behaviours that I didn’t find great. He is now the best behaved dog we can even walk him without a leash and he loves his baby brother so much!
These are my two troublesome cats, Abby the tabby is 12, she hates anyone who doesn't live in our house no matter how much they want to be her friend, but some visitors never learn and end up with bandaids. All of our relatives were worried with our first baby but she ended up being protective and is currently as tolerant as a grumpy older cat can be with a toddler. Arlo is 2 and very spunky, but awesome with a 3 yo who wants to unsuccessfully pick him up or pull him down the hall in a wagon.
I have two adopted kitties. They're a brother/sister pair. It's very clear who is the alpha (it's the sister 😆). Thankfully they're very tolerant (and sometimes affectionate) with the kiddos. Pumpkin and pickle!
We’re packing for our baby moon to Kauai tomorrow! Super excited! However, just got some blood results back and I’m anemic! Not sure I want to up iron supplements while on vacay and risk constipation though. 😩 I’m gonna try getting it through food this week and pair it with vitamin C to up absorption. Any recs for anemia during pregnancy?
@willrunforcookies@jennifer_louise I’m not sure either why it’s been so quiet! I’ve been really enjoying the interactions here; it’s so isolating irl to not have anyone in the same boat. I started back to in person work this month, so I’m at the stage all day. I do the video directing for a symphony orchestra, and tonight is a John Williams only show—lots of fun movie scores, so fun times even if it’s work. Looking forward to a relaxing day at home tomorrow all the same!
@r_kenn99 I’ve always had problems with iron, but oj seems to help a bit. I’ve also done Metamucil in the morning to counteract the digestive issues, too.

We have some small plans - swimming lessons, safety day at the fire station, maybe car shopping. Fun stuff 🎉
@jennifer_louise we need to get more regular threads to keep posting numbers up, GTKY threads?
This weekend is my grandma's birthday, so a big family party for her and my parents are visiting us for it.
