No OBGYN will take me… panicking
I’m moving an hour and a half away from my current city (partner and I have to move in with family) and I’m 23 weeks pregnant. I am desperately trying to find a new OBGYN and have called every one that is remotely close to my new residence and they either are full, won’t take my insurance (Medicaid) or say I’m too far along to switch to them.
I don’t know what to do. The closest one I’ve found that could possibly take me is 40 minutes away and delivers at a hospital which is also 40 minutes away.. so frustrating considering there is a hospital 15 minutes from where I’m moving but I can’t find any doctor to deliver there.
The one place I found 40 minutes away warned me they are completely full for December due dates but since I’m due early January I need to send over my medical records ASAP to have them SEE if they can accept me. My current provider is dragging their feet sending my records to them and I’m terrified they’ll get them over too late and I’ll be left without a doctor. I keep calling and emailing them to send over my records but haven’t heard anything.
I have severe driving anxiety (PTSD from an incident) and would just keep my current doctor and hospital if it weren’t for the fear of needing to drive through middle of busiest city in the state to get to them from my new house, not to mention driving an hour and a half in bad traffic while in labor to the hospital I originally planned to labor in.
I’m so anxious over this. I don’t know what to do.
Re: No OBGYN will take me
Another thought is calling your insurer and asking them if they can advocate for you on your behalf if the clinic is saying they won't take you based on your stage of pregnancy. I know at least under Managed Medicaid plans they offer case management services to help resolve these types of issues.
