  I'd check to see if Medicaid covers it in your state and, if they do, look on the Medicaid website (or Managed Medicaid insurance site) to see which providers are in their network.
  
  From just a cursory glance it looks like a bill to expand Medicaid to cover midwifery services, SB 1041, passed the Illinois House, but hasn't been signed into law

  I'm having a home birth and it's going to cost me more than if I gave birth in a hospital.  Which is ridiculous because the actual cost is way cheaper.  Gotta love our insurance system.  My friend had home births with medicaid and it was much cheaper than with ghi (which is what i have).  I hope it goes well for you and that you find someone good!
