Re: Groups 1 (April 1-8) Check in Week of 9/5

  • FTM/STM/TTM+: STM
    EDD / Weeks + Days: 4/5, 9w5d
Baby is the size of a: Cherry? Green olive?
    Team blue/pink/green: finding out
Upcoming Appointments: first proper appt Wednesday!
How are you feeling?: meh. As long as I take unisom and b6 I can keep my nausea almost in check. The exhaustion is another story, I need multiple naps a day and that just isn’t compatible with my job and parenting.
Rants/Raves: I’m so glad we have today off. I’ll take any holiday I can get! When’s the next one??
    Questions: nah.
GTKY: What’s your biggest pet peeve? People who walk too slowly while blocking the sidewalk, people who stand on the left in an escalator. Basically, get the fuck out of my way.

  • @etnyah ohhh I also loathe slow walkers!
  • FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM
    EDD / Weeks + Days: 4/4, 9w6d
Baby is the size of a: strawberry tomorrow I think; the bump says baby would fit on a watch face today lol
Team blue/pink/green: finding out next week I think!
Upcoming Appointments: blood work a week from today, second appointment on the 27th and hopefully an u/s around then!
How are you feeling?: Pretty good! I haven't had a ton of pregnancy symptoms which I know is lucky, but also makes me really nervous that everything is going okay. The worst of the symptoms are that I'm pretty exhausted all the time, sleeping terribly, and I have the worst acne of my life.

Rants/Raves: agreed with @etnyah I have never been happier for a day off 🎉

Questions: trying to figure out a good time for a baby shower. December at 22-23 weeks seems way too early but January/February in Chicago has the absolute worst weather 🤔

GTKY: What’s your biggest pet peeve?
I hate the sound of people eating and drinking. Cannot stand it, I have to leave the room or put on music

@mcmanda4321 I think second tri baby showers are totally acceptable, especially when weather is a concern later on! The only worry with December is that people might already be tied up with holiday stuff. Timing really is tricky. Could March be an option? It’s cutting it close, but I had my baby shower in mid-January last time when I was due mid-February. I don’t think I’ll have one this time since we have so much baby stuff.

  • @mcmanda4321 oh that's tough. I would think Dec might be tough just bc of the holidays. March would make me nervous bc you're due early April (and if it were me I'd want to make sure I have all the baby stuff before that!). You might just have to take a gamble on the weather. And if covid has taught us anything it's to be flexible with plans---you can always do something "virtual" as a back up plan if the weather is looking like it will be a bust or if you have family/friends that would be traveling and don't want to that time of year

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 4/2; 10+1

Baby is the size of a: No

Team blue/pink/green: Will will find out but keep it to ourselves; my husband is the weak link and I know ppl will exploit it. It's not because he wants to say anything; it's because he's clueless and will somehow let it slip. Lol. Also, he doesn't understand my need for schadenfreude.

Upcoming Appointments: weekly blood draws for my RI tomorrow (9/6); weekly RI appointment on 9/8; OB appointment on 9/7 for my 10+3 week appointment and ultrasound. This is with my "soon-to-be-former OB" but the new one can't see me until Oct 11. So... I'm sticking with him for the next few weeks.

How are you feeling?: I don't want to jinx it, but I may have turned the corner on nausea. It could also be that I've started using Blisslets correctly. Anyways, from Saturday on, I've been feeling mostly OK and have managed to stay up until an ungodly hour of 10pm! (Compared to climbing into bed by 7:30-8pm for the past several weeks). Of course, something might be wrong. Today I saw a tiny spot of red when I wiped in the morning. I'm also convincing myself that the toilet paper was pinkish later on. Basically, you know, spiraling. Lol. *Sobs uncontrollably.*

Rants/Raves: I'm currently crowdsourcing as to when I might get my NIPT results. Blood draw was on 8/31; today I got an e-mail from Natera saying they've received my sample in the lab and it'll take 1-2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!??????? Meanwhile, if you Google search "how long for Natera results" it says 5-7 calendar days. But from WHAT date? From date of receipt in the lab? From date of the blood draw? PUT ME OUT OF MY MISERY NATERA!!! I have a monthly Zoom call with my 2 besties next Sunday, and I was really hoping I'd have news to share with them. Le sigh.

Rave: I got to do some financial modeling today because we went and saw a plot of land we'd consider buying if we can get it on a fire sale (not out of realm of possibility as there are comparables in the same area.) I totally nerded out modeling potential cash outflow for buying land, architect fees, building fees, etc. as well as my income for the next few years. It's kinda awesome to go through that exercise just to level set on what you can afford.

Questions: see the Natera question above

GTKY: What’s your biggest pet peeve? Businesses who go out of their way to lose loyal customers. I wrote my first Google review this weekend and it was of the positive variety. Also, ppl who are rude to wait staff / customer service / store clerks. Just take a chill pill dudes/dudettes. These folks are working their assess off and earning minimum wage.

@etnyah +100 on the day off. I had no plans, and it was glorious since I spent a lot of time swinging in my hammock. I too walk with a purpose and God help YOU if you're dawdling AND taking up room on the sidewalk.

@mcmanda4321 Also, is it the chewing slurping noise that bothers you? What do you do when you're in a restaurant / at an event? I used to date a guy who hated the sound of teeth on forks and he was like "but I don't want you to change how you eat!!!" And I was like... "if it bothers you that much, it's not a big deal. Like... I don't want you to be annoyed." That relationship didn't really last. Lol.

  • @acleverusername definitely agree with people being rude to wait/service staff. The customer is NEVER right. Take your shitty, entitled attitude elsewhere. Same vein: people who don’t put the shopping cart in the cubby. It’s so easy, it makes someone’s job way easier. If you leave it anywhere but the cubby you’re an asshole.

  • @acleverusername I just looked back and for my last pregnancy it took exactly 2 weeks from my blood draw to get results with Natera. This was Nov 2020 though so maybe Covid slowed it down a little
  • @nsk489 argh, 2 weeks is way longer than I'd like to be waiting. Oh well. There's nothing to be done.

Upcoming Appointments: nt scan on 9/28, getting blood work done tomorrow
How are you feeling?: Like utter crap. Constantly queezy despite taking B6, eating every 2 hours, and keeping good smells nearby. Boobs are always hurting and getting comfortable laying down is difficult.
Rants/Raves: I hate waiting for the next appt. I need confirmation baby is still alive before we start telling anyone. Also, being the only female in the house is the worst! Both husband and son "can't" smell when something is rotten in the fridge or when the dishwasher needs to be turned on! 🤢

  • Oh yeah I struggle with that. My son’s delays make it hard for him to grasp the concept of things belonging to people. At restaurants I have to constantly divert him from wandering and grabbing food off strangers’ plates. Which is weird because at home, he never eats off of other people’s plates! Needless to say we don’t eat out a lot  :#

  • @acleverusername if I ever figure that out, I'll let every parent know.

I mean, when I see a parent attempting to teach or correct behavior, I'm never annoyed. Most of parenting is just trying, and trying again.

@etnyah that sounds very stressful. Do you think a buffet or family style restaurant could help him understand more? Maybe him seeing others pick their food and him pick his own would help?

  • @returning_bump_member the first time he stole something off someone else’s plate was at a buffet, I think he actually got confused because he saw people go and pick food at the buffet table so he assumed you just went around picking food from any table. Thankfully it was a work party and I knew the person whose plate he stole from! I was still mortified, but she was cool, lol. Since then I’ve watched him like a hawk so he hasn’t come close to success. The best trick so far is to know exactly what he wants, so he’s more interested in his own plate than other people’s (fries. Usually fries).

  • @etnyah oh my goodness, your pet peeve speaks to me! While heading to catch the train on my way home today (and basically any day I go in to the city), I was cursing every single slow walker under my breath! They just dilly-dally as if there around thousands of other people around them! 😭😭
  • @h0pey_ it’s the WORST! Especially when people decide to stand or walk slowly down the escalator as the train is arriving. Like, I get it, you’re not catching that train so why should you bother using your legs to step aside??? You’re the only person in the world after all! Don’t mind me missing that train and my subsequent bus so I have to stand around for 30 min while I could have been home already, as long as you get to stand on the escalator everything’s cool 🙄

Baby is the size of a: Strawberry Tomorrow!

Team blue/pink/green: Unsure, but I am feeling pink.

Upcoming Appointments: Sept 27th, 12 Week US

How are you feeling?: Very tired and emotional.

Rants/Raves: Recently got 2 kittens, have never felt more love for cats.

Questions: Is cramping normal? Do nerves generally settle after the first Trimester?

GTKY: What’s your biggest pet peeve? When people make big deals over something small, particularly in the service industry.
  • Cramping is totally normal! It means your uterus is growing and changing. I’m not cramping as much as I was a few weeks ago, but it still happens from time to time.

As for nerves, depends on the person. I think it’s normal to be more anxious in the very beginning, in my experience, nerves do settle a little. Of course, while you get less nervous about some things, you’ll find new things to be anxious about further along and then again after birth, that’s another story though!
