Extreme thirst

Is anyone else battling what feels like EXTREME thirst, especially at night? It's the summer but still I have to sleep with a humidifier blasting just to keep my mouth from turning into a desert. It's not uncommon that I'll drink a whole 24 oz water bottle over night and still I wake up and pound another 24 ozs with breakfast.

Is this normal?? I hate feeling parched all the time!

*I do have gestational diabetes but it's well controlled and shouldn't be making me thirsty

Re: Extreme thirst

  • I would ask your doctor. I was definitely more thirsty during pregnancy as I was sweating more and carrying more fluid. Perhaps add some electrolyte drinks to make sure you’re hydrated and not just flushing your body with water. Adding, make sure you’re drinking plenty of water during the day as well. I’ve been told half your body weight in fl oz of water.

  • I am right there with you! My doctor still hasn’t tested me for gestational diabetes ( I’m 28 weeks) but sometimes I wake up because my mouth is just so dry. I honestly probably have to drink more than that in the night
