Upcoming Appointments: NT scan and OB September 12.
How are you feeling?: Still on and off nauseated, most food and drink is revolting now. Especially my “go to” foods. I have the cold from hell for almost a week now, so that’s been fun to add to the exhaustion. Hoping relief is around the corner.
Rants/Raves: I am on staycation all week! I have a big to do list, but at least I can pace myself.
I had wanted to consider the NIPT test since I’m AMA this time around, but they literally do nothing to hide the sex. It would be impossible to read the report and not find out. And since I’m a nerd, I decided that I wouldn’t have restraint. So, we are doing NT again, which is fine, and obviously the 20 week anatomy scan.
Questions: N/A
GTKY: What are three things you love about yourself?
1. I am very assertive and don’t take crap from anyone in my old age and life stage. This was formerly a struggle for me to sort of be a doormat when I was younger.
2. I can cook pretty decently.
3. I definitely admire myself for growing and sustaining two (and now soon to be) three humans and keeping them alive and well this far. Parenting is hard! 😥😅
Upcoming Appointments: Tomorrow is my first official ultrasound and bloodwork at the OB.
How are you feeling?: Better surprisingly. I added a dr. Pepper to my day to get a slight amount of caffeine. And might be adding some mio energy. So im not drinking soda. I wish I could just have my coffee like normal.
Rants/Raves: put the deposit down on my doula. I really wanted a midwife homebirth, but with insurance not coving cost it was just not in the cards and I'm so sad about it.
Questions: none
GTKY: What are three things you love about yourself?
1) I go after what I want in life now. Previously I had been a huge people pleaser and it made me miserable.
2) I like how I'm holding my own in male dominated industries.
3) I'm good at listening and helping people through things.
@gravcass We are due date buddies! I’m sorry about the insurance woes but I hope you found a great doula! I would honestly consider one this time around but I already made a birth plan with the OB (former L&D) nurse. 🤣 Its epidural asap and shoot the baby out since my pelvis is a disaster.
Anyone else get a thorough nurse visit this time around? I honestly loved this girl (and we had a lot in common). She gave me tips on having three kids, car recommendations, insider info on the new doctors since I last delivered. I was shocked in the age of Covid that she spent over an hour with me in person. I thought it was going to be a waste being my third time and all, but she was awesome.
Baby is the size of a(n): Lime/ height of a bobby pin
Team blue/pink/green: Looking forward to finding out!
Upcoming Appointments: My first midwife/ultrasound appt are next week on Monday & Tuesday, 12.5 weeks. Wild that had I not been doing fertility treatments that this would be my first appt!
How are you feeling?: PM nausea, shortness of breath... finally ordered some B6 and it arrives on Wednesday. I'm ready to be able to have energy and not feel awful at night. I feel like i need to cram everything on my to-do lists into the same 8-10 hours I'm working and it's making my head swim.
Rants/Raves: Rants are the aforementioned physical woes. Rave: daughter is off with my parents for the week, which means we are kid-free for 5 glorious days! Unfortunately it's work-busy time for husband and me, but I'll take guilt-free naps and low-key evenings as a huge win!
Questions: N/A
GTKY: What are three things you love about yourself? (1) I've started setting firmer boundaries with things and relationships that do not serve me. It's been hard, but worth it. (2) I'm a really good manager; I've worked really hard to get where I am at work and think I've built a team and culture that I'm proud to be part of and proud to maintain (3) I'm, like, really good at jigsaw puzzles.
How are you feeling?: So much better! I'm getting my appetite back and my energy is better as well. I keep thinking about my placenta like "go, go, take over!"
Rants/Raves: Rant: DD2 got into her pull up twice yesterday and smeared poop all over her hands. We are currently potty training, but it's not going well 😬 Rave: Our house updating is finally coming together! We got new carpets for the bedrooms and living room, new flooring in our dining room, painting the new girls room, and moved them all in. Next up is painting the old girl's room which is going to be for DS, and then we'll have the nursery free for the baby.
Questions: Anyone else having BHs yet?
GTKY: What are three things you love about yourself? Oh I love this question! So often we are too hard on ourselves, and it's good to look at the nice qualities we admire in ourselves. I'm a diligent, self-motivated person; I'm intelligent and enjoy learning more; and over the past 3 or so years, I have learned how to be objective and not so one-sided in my passions, judgments, and opinions.
@Wishilivedinflorida - I love how motherhood stretches and grow us, but also you look at yourself and you say "I'm a badass for doing all of that." Especially after birth!
@gravcass - Glad you get to see all the wiggles tomorrow!
@heytallmama - I love working puzzles, but jigsaw puzzles are the bane of my existence. 😂
Team blue/pink/green:thinking blue. Will see at anatomy scan
Upcoming Appointments: not till Sept
How are you feeling?: tired, nauseous, random headaches, out of breath easy, dizzy when I stand, so incredibly bloated.
Rants: Yesterday was an incredibly hard day. Today my boys have lost their everlasting minds and I just want my husband home. Raves: I rage cleaned a bit today. Not happy about the rage part but my dining room/homeschool area looks so much better now!
Questions: I got my first tri lab results back. TSH levels were a little higher than they like, 2.930, so possible Hypothyroidism. I'm kind of wondering if it could be my crappy diet here lately. Have to follow up with my primary. Anyone else dealing with hypothyroidism?
GTKY: What are three things you love about yourself? 1.Ability to just get sh!t done when I have to. Like I may complain about it, but when put in a bind and just need to figure it out and deal it's amazing what I can do. Sheer stubbornness and dealing with kids/animals alone while my husband travels for work has been a blessing and a curse lol! 2. I can usually read and figure people out very well and quickly. 3. I am an amateur, but I have an eye for photography. Mostly animals, plants, and then just real life. Definitely not posing people though. One day I would like to learn more and actually do something with it.
Wife. Boy mom x6. Expecting #7. Wannabe homesteader. , 💙💙💙💙💙💙
Upcoming Appointments: US for official EDD and NT scan 9/14, OB appointment 9/13
How are you feeling?: Bleh, so nauseated and exhausted all the time
Rants/Raves: I'm annoyed by everything today haha
Questions: NATM
GTKY: What are three things you love about yourself? I'm independent, decisive and confident. I'm working on being kinder to myself. I love hard, but I'm also not afraid to cut you out if necessary. I've grown a lot and don't accept toxic people into my life anymore just because we're related.
@marebear15 I have. Nothing super intense yet but definitely noticeable. They seem to start earlier and earlier with me.
@heytallmama I love jigsaw puzzles too. I just introduced them to my boys and my 10yr old has really taken to it. He whips through 1000 piece puzzles like it's nothing. It's been a fun thing to do with him.
Wife. Boy mom x6. Expecting #7. Wannabe homesteader. , 💙💙💙💙💙💙
@Wishilivedinflorida that's so odd about the NIPT. What company is it? We used Invitae and they sent the gender completely separately and once you opened it, you had to click a pop-up that was like "You are about to view the gender of your baby. Are you SURE you want to proceed?" before it would let you see the result.
@marebear15 OMG that sounds terrible! I am not excited about potty training.
@heytallmama girl saame. I have limited productivity hours these days.
@nopegoat rage cleaning is so cathartic, isn't it? Plus things look nice for a while after you're done.
@gravcass I miss coffee sooo much too. Why is it always coffee as an aversion?!
@bbrahmbhatt I didn’t ask which company. I asked if I could still be surprised and the nurse told me the report just straight up lists chromosomes detected including the sex chromosomes. So anyone who has had basic biology can figure it out. Also the copay ranges from $200-2k. She said they don’t recommend it over NT scan in particular even for my age, so I just passed.
How are you feeling?: Pretty good. I had some spotting again on Friday and had my HCG levels tested and they were fine so that was good to hear. I was very tired yesterday, I just couldn't snap out of it.
Rants/Raves: Rave: I get to spend the rest of the week with DS. We have a couple of play dates planned. I also booked plane tickets for our family to visit the UK in November!
Questions: Did anyone not get their HCG tested at their OB confirmation appointment?
GTKY: What are three things you love about yourself? 1. My love of travel 2. My ability to be a good friend 3. That I am a teacher
@nopegoat - mine TSh was 2.7, down from 3.21 in March. They didn't say anything to me about it. I wonder what your doc is using for their "line" for too much. I even saw an endocrinologist in March and she was basically like - "You're on your way to having Hashimoto's, but your numbers aren't that out of whack that we will do anything yet". I was pleasantly surprised my number has gone down so much.
Team blue/pink/green: finding out in around 10 days with NIPT results! My grandma’s never fail ring test said girl so 🤷🏼♀️🤣
Upcoming Appointments: Wednesday for NIPT blood draw
How are you feeling?: feeling stressed. And tired. I forgot that prepping for the first week of kindergarten is exhausting AF. It’s been 6 years since I taught it and when I taught preschool the last few my associate prepped everything after I planned 😅
Rants/Raves: my rant is that I’m exhausted. Rave is that I’m ready to conquer this first week of school and I’m announcing my pregnancy on social media and to my coworkers and my students in a super fun way on Friday! Great way to end our first week I think.
Questions: none
GTKY: What are three things you love about yourself? 1) I completed my Masters in Early Childhood Education while chasing and raising a toddler.
2) I’m very creative and feel blessed that I know how to sew when many people don’t anymore.
@burr1371 I don’t think with either of my pregnancies they checked my HCG levels. They check all sorts of other blood work but that’s never on my results 🤷🏼♀️ Also yay for all us teachers in here 🎉
Team blue/pink/green: I think we might be leaning toward not finding out!
Upcoming Appointments: Sept 6 I have a physical and check up with my Dr.
How are you feeling?: I've been slowly feeling less nauseated each day, YAY
Rants/Raves: Rave - I got to be at one of my best friend's weddings yesterday, and my speech went well. AND we told our parents this week about Baby! It's the first grandchild on both sides and everyone is excited. Rant - between bridesmaid duties and staying with my in-laws all week, my usual fatigue is intense today. Still a good week, though!
Questions: NATM
GTKY: What are three things you love about yourself?
Hmm...
1) I know I'm a good listener and that my friends know they can come to me for that. 2) I am very musical and it's been fun to use that in different ways throughout my career
Baby is the size of a(n): strawberry maybe. I forget lol
Team blue/pink/green: will find out once I take the NIPT
Upcoming Appointments: NIPT on the 29th.
How are you feeling?: pretty good. Super tired nausea is very slight and is taken care of by food which is nice.
Rants/Raves: Rave we're on vacation in Vancouver with my BIL. Rant: it's a 13 hour drive from my home and we did it in a starigh shot. We left at 6:20pm and was hoping that our D2 would sleep through most of the drive. She didn't, she was crying every 30-60 minutes. I got a very very small amount of sleep during the drive. DH got a solid nap in when we got her. I tried 3 times but the first 2 D2 was all over me so I gave up. The third was successful but very short because H woke me up. I was not impressed.
Questions: none
GTKY: What are three things you love about yourself?
1. I'm an empath
2. When I have a vision for something I go for it 3. I'm a good listener
@mamahosch I've been using my pendulum and it keeps saying boy everytime. I'm interested in seeing if it's right.
@miss_lynn9 I've done that same YYC-YVR drive so many times now (we are literally in the middle of the drive right now, we decided to break it up and do a little Vernon vacation). But we've yet to do it with a kid! We are so curious how that will go in the future... Good luck on the way back!! 🤞🏻
@nopegot I've been seeing endocrinologist since before pregnancy for hypothyroidism. She told me the ideal during pregnancy is under 1. Mine's definitely gone up during pregnancy (common due to increased blood volume) so we upped my dose of synthroid. I think it was 2.3 last we checked.
I suggest also getting your free T3 & T4 levels checked as those do paint a more accurate picture with TSH over TSH alone.
Upcoming Appointments: midwife today, US & bloodwork tomorrow
How are you feeling?: sick sick sick. I thought I was getting better but now it’s worse.
Rants/Raves: I am so sick of being sick. Christian is still being a complete champ and holding this house together but I feel completely useless these days.
Questions: none
GTKY: What are three things you love about yourself?
This is a hard one for me right now - I’ve been pretty down on myself cause I’ve been so out of it lately. In the beforetimes I would have said: - I have a lot of ways to spend time alone and be perfectly content: puzzles (I see you @heytallmama), knitting, reading… anything that seems good for an introvert, I’m into.
- we have about 5000 balls in the air right now, and despite feeling like garbage 95% of the time, I am managing to keep up decently well.
- my brain can figure out math problems fast. If someone has an issue I can usually point them in the right direction fairly quickly.
@nopegoat - I think I only have two weeks between the cramping sensation and BHs. They do tend to go away if I can get my water intake higher, but that's a struggle.
@mamahosch - How are you announcing? My husband came up with an elaborate announcement that I've been too tired to get to making, and I'm already showing and wearing maternity clothing, so I think the cat's already out of the bag.
@muggsd - Jealous of your math brain. I can't visualize anything, so I have to have a pen and paper (or my phone).
@youcanhavemanhattan oh have fun, I've never been to Vernon!! We're breaking it up slightly on the way back. We're spending a couple days in Kelowna with my SILs which will be nice. But still over 9 hours in one day.
I had my last baby a year ago and had all the same bloodwork done and everything came back clear. Definitely going to follow up with my primary for more bloodwork just in case. But I'm really hoping it's more diet related since basically all the diet related fixes have been stuff I haven't been able to eat.
Wife. Boy mom x6. Expecting #7. Wannabe homesteader. , 💙💙💙💙💙💙
How are you feeling?: Exhausted. I don’t know if it’s pregnancy related, back to school stuff or both. 🥲 Nausea was almost non-existence last week and started to show up this morning. Mainly when I cough or have a lot of drainage from my nose, so that’s fun.🙃
Rants/Raves:
Rave: My district ordered a bunch of new PE equipment(I’m an elementary PE teacher) and I feel like a little kid on Christmas morning😂
Rant: I’m pretty short(5 foot with a 24inch inseam) and I can’t find short/Xshort maternity pants. 😭 I normally buy my jeans from Maurices because they have xshort size, but not in maternity jeans. 😭
Questions: N/A
GTKY: What are three things you love about yourself?
1. I love how I overcame my ADHD, Dyslexia, and Dyscalculia(math learning disability). I didn’t get diagnosed until I was 19 and 20. My younger sister got diagnosed with ADHD in HS, and my mom has ADHD(I didn’t know that until my sister got diagnosed), so my mom had me tested when I was a freshman in college….because college was academically hard for me. I eventually got accommodations for testing and assignments(when needed), and it helped a bunch! I mainly used my accommodations during my gen-ed classes, and only once during my PE-Health/ Education classes(human anatomy is HARD 😅). And 6ish years later I eventually graduated!
2. I love to bake! Mainly cookies and banana bread. 🤤 I do like to cook, but only a few dishes(like the baked Mac n cheese I made tonight 🤤)
3. I care deeply about my friends, family and pets. I’ve cried a lot this pregnancy because of my dogs(like right now 😂)
Team blue/pink/green: nothing confirmed yet but still getting girl vibes
Upcoming Appointments: Thursday is finally my dating scan and first US
How are you feeling?: tired, bone tired, and a lot of soreness/stretching in my abdomen.
Rants/Raves: Rant - my husband told me yesterday that I look like I'm showing now. I know he meant it as an exciting thing but I started this pregnancy much higher than my ideal weight so I’m not really able to see any changes, so just really upset about my body getting even bigger than it already is. I thought getting a bump would be fun and exciting but I’m afraid it’s going to be a body image issue for me.
Raves - tomorrow I’m going to Disneyland for my sisters birthday so looking forward to a super fun day!
Questions: nothing right now
GTKY: What are three things you love about yourself?
1. I have pretty awesome work ethic - I always achieve things I put my mind to 2. I’m very patient 3. I have a naturally optimistic personality (minus my very negative rant above lol)
@disneybaby23 - I found that wearing maternity clothes helped me with my body image. When I wasn't trying to hide my belly, but instead rounded it out with over-the-belly maternity shorts, even my gut/fat part felt like part of the baby bump.
@shorty-sar Could you use waist extenders/belly bands with your normal jeans? I would ride that out until it’s not feasible. The other thing that might work is “crop length” maternity pants or leggings, which may fit you like normal pants. I’m 5’6” and I find pants fit just where they are supposed to, so crop length on me would probably work for you.
@nopegoat I’m doing a “Bluey” announcement on social media because DS is obsessed. At work I’m putting a fun note in the teachers lounge with cookies, and then with my students they’re putting together puzzle pieces that are baby related and guess my secret lol.
Upcoming Appointments: 8/30 with a midwife. I finally got an appointment! They said no US but maybe listening to the heartbeat.
How are you feeling?: Ugh. Sickness has been pretty bad the past couple days.
Rants/Raves: Rave - I was selected for a pay raise! It won't take effect until next year but it's still pretty nice! Rant - I'm so ready to be done with the first trimester and to have energy again.
Questions:
GTKY: What are three things you love about yourself? 1) I'm always polite and try to treat everyone with just basic respect. It sounds simple, but it's pretty rare in my line of work. Like the guy whose job I'm currently doing - I hear so many horror stories about what a dick he was. 2) I did grad school, IVF (and the first trimester), and worked full time all at the same time. It was hard AF, but I did it. 3) I'm pretty good at digging into the "why" behind problems and seeing the underlying processes and behaviors that broke down. My husband hates it when I tell him the problem is not that we ran out of cheese but that his system for updating the grocery list is not systematically applied.

Baby is the size of a(n): Ketchup packet. App says a lime, but I’ve never seen a lime that’s only 1.6 inches long…
Team blue/pink/green: Still praying for pink
Upcoming Appointments: First appointment with the midwives on Tuesday. I also have an NTS screening on Wednesday. I pressure go the blood work done, but they’re doing the US then.
How are you feeling?: the last couple of weeks I’ve had more nausea than the rest of my pregnancy. I’m also still stupid congested and very tired all the time.
Rants/Raves: I’m dead set on a home birth, but my insurance wont cover it, so I switched to another provider that the midwives have had a lot of luck with. I was so scared it was going to be an impossible process, but all it took was a five minute phone call. I’m so relieved. Now I’m just hoping we can petition for them to cover most of the cost.
Questions: How are you all doing with sugar? I’ve been pretty good until now, but on my vacation I went in a little bender and am feeling guilty about it.
GTKY: What are three things you love about yourself?
1). I am extremely hard working. I don’t half-ass anything and always get the results I want.
2). I’m very artistic. I can basically do anything — sing, dance, draw, write, play instruments, act — I do it all. I hope to pass some of this to my little one.
3). I’m very independent. Most of my life I’ve always forged my own way and figured things out for myself. It wasn’t really until I began dating my boyfriend that I really learned how to depend on others.

Team blue/pink/green: Based on the NT scan, doctor said he could say with 60% accuracy that it's a ... girl! I know, I know, 60% isn't that high. But I'll believe that until I'm told otherwise. So, team pink
Upcoming Appointments: Dr's appt on Sept 6
How are you feeling?: Great. Just eating and sleeping more.
Rants/Raves: Rave - My sister and her husband and kids will be with my parents this weekend (I live abroad), and she's been great about planning the announcement to my parents with me! Rant - My husband still refuses to put any thought or effort into how to tell his parents (who live in the same city as us). He sees it as a "chick thing"
