Did anyone's fever in early pregnancy (4-6 weeks) cause Birth Defects (or not)?

How high and how long did the fever last?

  • I had covid around that time, fever got up to about 103.5 and was off and on for several days. My baby was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect at 24 weeks. The doctors have said there is no way to know what caused it.

  • I had COVID at 12 weeks and had a fever for 5 or 6 days. I followed my doctor's advice and took Tylenol every 6 hours to keep the fever below 101. She said as long as I didn't let the fever get too high, it shouldn't cause any problems. My baby boy has a small VSD, but I doubt that's related to COVID because my older daughter also has one, and I have a hole in the heart as well. My older daughter is completely fine, and most VSDs close, so I'm not worried about it. Everything else on my ultrasounds has looked great. I'm hoping that you don't have any negative effects either!
  • I had a fever with Covid for a couple days at 10/11 weeks and my baby was born two weeks ago absolutely perfect. I kept it down with Tylenol but it may have reached 102 prior to that. I don’t really remember.
