I'm just curious as to whether it's typical in most places for ultrasound clinics to require a partner/support person to wait outside for the first half of the ultrasound, during which they take measurements.
My previous experiences with ultrasounds have been quite negative, as they've usually been in the context of miscarriage. During my previous pregnancy, I had to wait alone in the ultrasound room for quite some time while my partner was outside, while it was clear that something was not right and I had several different sonographers cycle through the room. I'm quite anxious about that first ultrasound after having had a missed miscarriage and would love to have my partner there for emotional support the whole time, but it sounds like none of the clinics near my area offer this. Is this typical in most cities, or would a partner often be present for the entire first ultrasound visit?
