December 2022 Moms

Holiday baby?

My due date is December 4th and I want a December birthday because my other sisters with children each had their first babies in December. But everyone I tell my due date to says my baby could be born on Thanksgiving (more than a week early). I honestly don't understand why people blurt out the things they do to pregnant women. Where did your socially polite filter go?

Whatever. Does anyone have a due date on an actual holiday? Any Christmas eve or Christmas day babies expected? Any New Year's Eve babies in this group? One of my best friends was born on New Year's Day.

My first daughter was due on valentines. I hated the comments, and I hated the idea for her, luckily I was induced and she came feb 9th.

My mom was due in mid January, went into labor Christmas night and had me 26 hours later (never lets me forget it either). I’m due New Years Eve, but I’m getting used to the idea I might go early like she did.
  • I’m due December 22 with twins, but won’t come close to that date. I could easily have them Halloween or Thanksgiving time or December. I honestly don’t pay much attention to the exact due date because you never know what’ll happen.
  • My doctor told me the due date is +/- two weeks, so my range is 12/6 - 1/3. I'm hoping for any earlier birth date because I really don't want a holiday baby. My EDD is 12/20 and everyone always says, "oh, a Christmas baby!", which I hate. To be fair though to other people, I would probably do the same thing as I'm known to speak before I think too.

And while my EDD doesn't actually fall on a holiday, my mom's birthday is Halloween and my husband's birthday is the Fourth of July (Independence Day). They both lament how they hated having their birthdays on a holiday when they were kids because they never got to really celebrate their birthdays like other kids did.
  • I’m due 12/24. My OB already told me it’s not likely I’ll give birth exactly on my due date, especially since it’s my first.
  • I’m due 12/13 and my own birthday is 12/12, growing up my mom kept my birthday very separate from Christmas - we didn’t put up Christmas decor or having Christmas wrapping until after my birthday. We also had a half birthday celebration in the summer so I could get summer toys/ beach wear as we have a cottage and my siblings had Warmer month birthdays!
  • I am half expecting a Thanksgiving baby because I'm due the first week of December. But anything can happen, this one could be a week late just to mess with me.

My first baby was due January 9th and he was a New Year's baby on January 1st instead. His birthdays are fun, we always make sure to take down Christmas in time to celebrate his day.
  • My baby is due on 12/23/22. We will be leaving the hospital on Christmas Day.
  • I’m due on 12/25. Hoping it’s earlier or later as Christmas birthdays have their own challenges. My sister is a 12/26 birthday.

I am so happy because I have a Christmas boy. <3 . My due date was Jan 14. I prayed so much for getting a baby on the 25th.
  • i’m due 12/21 but everyone says oh a christmas baby to me too!! I’ll have a repeat c/s hopefully at 39 weeks though so Im aiming for middle of december instead !
  • I’m due December 27th! We’ve decided not telling anyone our due date because of annoying comments & questions like that 🙄 our answer to when is the baby due is “around the holidays” I had no social media when I was pregnant with my first, it was amazing, and also nobody seen her til she was a month old. this pregnancy we moved across the country so that’s my contact with family 💀
  • My mom was due Valentine’s Day with me, but I was born 4 weeks early due to preeclampsia. My first was due 12/20 and was a week-ish early. I’m just hoping not for my DH’s or first kid’s birthday for this kid since they’re both in the two weeks on either side of my due date this time around. 😂

  • I’m due 12/25…we are hoping for either earlier or later just to give them a bit of distance..my mom was early with my brother and I so hopefully that trend holds
  • I'm due December 24th with Baby #3. With my last two I went 10ish days early. I'm hoping for a little early again! Whenever will be perfect timing though.

I’m due Dec 28th. My brother is Dec 20, my nephew is Dec 28th, my dad is Dec 30, my sister in law is Jan 2 and I am Jan 10. At first I was kinda upset because I really didn’t want a baby in either December or January but I’ve come to terms with it. As long as it isn’t Xmas eve or Christmas I think I won’t be disappointed. My daughter is Nov 23rd and sometimes it lands on thanksgiving 🤷🏻‍♀️. At least New Years is a fun/party type of holiday. My son is Feb 19th (usually either Presidents’ Day or Valentine’s Day weekend). Holiday birthdays are kinda our norm. It works out just make sure u separate the two—most kids don’t care if they celebrate a week or two before or after!
  • I’m due on Christmas Day. Not really crazy about the idea of a Christmas baby, but it’s my first so maybe she’ll come late. I have a nephew whose birthday is 12/22, and my sister is planning to give him the option of having a celebration on his half-birthday instead when he’s older. My moms birthday falls on Thanksgiving some years, and I think she kind of likes it because the whole family is already together (except for her 40th when my dad forgot to remind everyone it was also her birthday lol, she was not happy about it that year). I think as long as you make a point to make the birthday celebration totally separate from the holiday, it can still be special!
  • Due on 12/6, right before my bday, but guessing I might be late bc it's my first. My husband is a Christmas baby, and my parents are 12/24 and 12/27 so we're just adding to the holiday mix. I think they all minded when they were kids but as adults it's really nice to celebrate all together! Honestly I think they get more presents bc everyone remembers and is already buying gifts.
  • We are due on Christmas! I hope the baby comes early or late and doesn’t have to share their birthday with a big holiday.
  • Wait reading these comments .. is it common for first babies to be late? My EDD is 12/15 and I reaaaalllly want baby to be on time bc the doula I hired takes off for the holidays so if baby ends up being a Xmas baby, I have no doula 😭 also I just really don't want my baby to have to deal w Xmas + bday being mixed their whole lives.

I’m due with my first 12/26. I finish my last semester of grad school on 12/15. So I’d really love to have this kiddo between 12/16 and 12/31. Really don’t want it to run long and have my insurance reset and then deliver. My fil birthday is 12/24 and my bil birthday is 12/21. Every time I tell someone my due date (even nurses) they say “oh a Christmas baby!” I don’t really care about Christmas but it’s my husband’s favorite holiday. We’ve talked about doing a half birthday celebration when the kid is older so they can have a party with friends, but family wise I don’t think it’ll matter too much.
  • @narwhal33 first time babies are more likely to be on-time (39+ weeks) or a little late. Most commonly, they’re born in week 40 (but only 3-5% are actually on the due date.) My first was 38 weeks and 6 days, so not all are late. ☺️

  • My due date is December 22 and I feared I would have a Christmas baby, however I was just diagnosed with Cholestasis of pregnancy and I will most likely be induced at 36 weeks which falls on Thanksgiving ! At least thanksgiving isn’t the same day every year 😅
  • I'm due on 12/23, so not quite Christmas -- but since my OB is doing a scheduled c-section, it'll likely be around 12/16 unless this one sneaks out early. Given that every other one of my kids was still firmly in place on their due date,  and two came a week or more later, I doubt that'll be the case. 🤣 If we weren't scheduling it I'd firmly expect to be having another January baby.
  • I was born on Thanksgiving, and I’ve always loved it! It’s not on the holiday every year but what’s better than celebrating your birthday with lots of food and family. I’m expecting my 2nd on December 24th but am hoping he comes early.
