Had the smallest amount of spotting last night. I peed on another stick (even though I had stopped doing that, ha), and it’s still dark.

I spotted all through first tri with my son so I know it doesn’t have to mean anything, but with two CPs under my belt I’m on edge. Ugh. Maybe I just spot every pregnancy. And of course it’s the weekend so I can’t call for betas for a couple days.

@etnyah I'm sorry about the weekend scare. I know the fear well. Hopefully – as you said – it's a normal thing for you. Did your doctor ever find source of bleeding in previous pregnancy?

@acleverusername I’m feeling a little better now since I haven’t had any more spotting! With my first CP is started with just a little in the evening and then it increased the next day. So far nothing else!

They couldn’t find any reason for the bleeding last time, but it was more than spotting some days. I always thought it was weird that they never found a reason, I asked specifically if it could have been an SCH and they said likely not. Very strange.

Okay, feeling better about it today! Haven’t had any more spotting and my wondfo lines are as dark as they get now. Plus I woke up really queasy.

Forgot to say the spotting was brown. It could have been residual blood from the implantation spotting, which I did have. It stopped a week and a half ago, but it’s a possibility for sure. Phew!

On my end, I definitely had a pink tinge when I wiped last night / this morning. Trying not to freak out, but I've seen this story before. Sigh. My heart is so guarded that I'm basically prepared for anything.

@acleverusername ugh I’m so sorry. First tri anxiety is so horrible. Rationally I know spotting happens in many healthy pregnancies, but it’s so hard when you see even the smallest hint of blood. I hope it’s nothing! I hope you can be seen for betas stat.

Welp. I may or may not be pregnant. If I’m not pregnant this is the weirdest f*ing period I’ve ever had. Going on day 2 of light brown spotting. I’m normally 5 second of brown spotting and swoosh the red tide wave follows. Been reading up on implantation spotting, and so far I fit the bill. I know waaayyy to early to say or think anything, but I’m excited to think it might be possible. I’ve just never had a period start off like this and we did try for it a week ago, so the implantation bleeding would be on track with the event from what I’m reading. I’m on pins and needles. What’s the first thing I do? Come find the bump of course. Been here for both my other pregnancies and found a very supportive group every time. Wish me luck please! All though we weren’t really planning it a full go until next month, we did let the soldiers out of the barracks for a quick trial run, so I’m a little hopeful. This is out last try, going for a third child as I’m approaching my 40’s in less then a year, so I’m a little worried we waited too long, but hopefully I can get pregnant again since our last boy 4 yrs ago. I’ve got a 2015 boy and a 2018 boy. Was hoping for a 2023 girl, but will take any blessing.

Either way, this is not the right thread for you. This is a thread of support for women with a confirmed pregnancy (either with a HPT or a beta) who are experiencing bleeding and fearing they might be losing the baby.

Had a little more spotting, but it was very faint brown and *tmi* following a BM so I’d say it’s safe to say it’s just old blood slowly working itself out. I’m not worried about it. I won’t call for Betas unless it worsens, I’ve already missed too much work lately anyway.

@etnyah no more pink tinges, and my beta on Friday was very strong (2001!). I did message with my doctor a bit this morning and he was happy with the strong beta. My first u/s is Aug 11, so I only have a week left to wait.

I’m at such a loss. Friday night after sex, I had a fairly large gush of blood that seemed to stop. Brown spotting on and off ever since. Went to the dr today. They did an ultrasound and I saw the tech type “no evidence of intrauterine pregnancy” on the screen. My heart is broken, but the doctor said it’s not uncommon for there to be nothing visible on an ultrasound at 5w2d. She said SOMETIMES they get lucky and see a sac. But that this is why they don’t typically schedule an ultrasound this early, because it tends to cause more anxiety than help. So I’m in a waiting period. I go back Wednesday and Friday for more blood draws.

This is coming off of a very traumatic miscarriage in December/January, and a chemical pregnancy last month. I’m just feeling so defeated, hopeless, and broken right now.

Oh no @becks105, that’s the worst limbo to be in.

I don’t want to give you false hope, but with my successful pregnancy, I had several gushes of red blood. Sometimes clots. It happens while on vacation so I had no way to get to my OB, so I have no idea what a US would have looked like at 5+ weeks, but when I finally got a US a 8 weeks, everything looked normal. Despite the on-and-off bleeding (going on for several weeks), the pregnancy was completely textbook.

Having no way of knowing what’s going on is the worst though. I’m sorry you have to wait so long. Crossing my fingers for you.

Right now, my blood work from yesterday is all in normal range. Beta test as 1628. I go back tomorrow to repeat it. I’m terrified of an ectopic pregnancy. I really just want to bring this baby home 😭😭😭

I went to a different Ob at my office. Whoever could get me in. I’m waiting to see the PA and do my second round of labs. Please please please cross your fingers I get good results, and quickly 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I was curious about the consistency of my cervical mucus and decided to check it during my morning shower. Turns out I was bleeding (bright red) and there were a couple large clots that clung to my fingers (the size of dimes) and one in particular that looked like a sac, like an extra large jelly bean. I put in a menstrual cup and went about my day, waiting for it to get worse or the whoosh feeling, but nothing happened. There’s a very small amount of pink that was collected by the cup and my fingers came out clean when checking the CM again throughout the day. This is my first pregnancy and today would have been week 5. I can only assume the next step is to go to the Dr. to figure out if I’m no longer pregnant?

@white_nectarine I’m so sorry, that’s really scary to see. If it was dime sized it’s probably too large to be a sac at five weeks, there’s all sorts of weird looking stuff in there. Definitely call your doctor and request betas. An ultrasound at this point would probably be too early to say for sure, but blood tests will tell you.

For what it’s worth, I had bright red bleeding with clots while pregnant with my son, and it turned out fine. I don’t want to give you false hope, but don’t count yourself out until you’ve seen your doctor. I hope they have good news for you but it’s a good idea to be as mentally prepared as possible for bad news too.

@white_nectarine a sub-chorionic hematoma is a usual suspect for early pregnancy bleeding that is unrelated to a miscarriage. I'm not a doctor, and even a doctor wouldn't be able to tell you what's happening over the internet, so calling the OB office and asking to be seen is what I would do. An ultrasound at 5 weeks won't tell you much, but it can tell you if a yolk sac/gestational sac is forming or has formed. Plus, beta hCG levels can help paint a fuller picture.

Update: my HCG levels looks great at 21k on Friday, was only 5k on Monday. Otherwise, the doctor chalked up my issue as implantation bleeding which I was surprised considering the clots and the color of the blood. But nonetheless, this is a sigh of relief for me. Thanks for supporting me and hearing me out!

What a day. I started bleeding what I can only characterize as a day 1 light period today. It was reminiscent of my first miscarriage and obviously triggering. I’m traveling out of state so only option was the ER. The good news… my beta has Increased 10x since Mondays bloodwork, from 669 to over 6000. But the ultrasound was inconclusive because I am still so early. The good news is they saw a sac and small fetal pole but it was in the lower part of my uterus which is what made them not super confident it isn’t a miscarriage. I have to see the local OB on Monday likely for another beta test and maybe ultrasound. Hanging onto hope through my great HCG numbers and praying for the best outcome.

Hugs @dogmom512. With my son, the placenta attached super low and close to the cervix, so it’s definitely possible that could cause bleeding without it actually being a loss.

Having the placenta close to the cervix isn’t ideal, but in most cases it’s not an issue, unless it attaches over the cervix. As the uterus expands, placenta moves away from the cervix in almost all cases too.

@dogmom512 of course! These little beans can attach anywhere in the uterus, so it makes sense that sometimes they decide to stick themselves low down. Wouldn’t be surprised that’s what causing the bleed for you now, and what causes my bleed last time!

I was too nervous to even post anything before, but things are looking better now, so I can type. My positive blood work had an hcg level of 35 on Tuesday. Follow up Thursday only saw a rise to 58.2, so we started to get a little worried. I'm going on vacation this week, so I was extra nervous of something happening while I was away surrounded by extended family. I had repeat bloodwork this morning (Saturday), and hcg is up to 154.3. So cautiously optimistic and speaking positively to Baby Shark. I did not have any of these concerns with my previous two pregnancies, so this is unfamiliar territory.

Hi all! In a really stressful situation at the moment. I found out I was pregnant around 2 weeks ago. The only symptoms I have had was feeling extra tired, really sore boobs and periodic pain in my groin area. 4 days ago I went to pee and there was a little discharge on the toilet paper that was tinged with blood. I looked in the toilet bowl and I also saw something that looked like tissue with a little blood in it. To be specific, it kind of looked like a thick, fuzzy string.

I called my OB and he said it may have been a miscarriage, but wanted me to get bloodwork done. I just got the bloodwork done yesterday and my hcG and progesterone levels still indicate pregnancy, which I know those levels can take a while to go down even after a miscarriage.

Thing is, the night before the bloody tissue, I had been intimate with my boyfriend for the first time since I found out...so it seems like odd timing. Initially I was thinking maybe he just hit my cervix? But right after I saw that tissue my other symptoms have faded. Mainly, my boobs don't hurt almost at all anymore and haven't had any pain in my groin since.

I am going for an ultrasound next week, but my emotions are all over the place. I feel like I just need to accept that I miscarried, but I haven't bled at all apart from that tiny bit on the toilet paper....so there is part of me that is still hoping. Has anyone been through similar and still been pregnant? I am so torn up about this.

@firsttimemommy_1 I am sorry you're going through such anguish. Unfortunately what you're asking for is very specific so it's highly unlikely anyone will be able to answer you. What I can tell you is that symptoms come and go, and that sex _can_ irritate the cervix to the point of having spotting (as can a transvaginal ultrasound). If you're looking for answers sooner, you could ask your OB to get repeat bloodwork done to see what's happening with your levels. You can also ask about moving up your ultrasound sooner. Otherwise, I'm afraid the only answer is to wait and see. I'm sorry. I'm keeping you in my thoughts & prayers.

The soonest I can be seen for the spotting I’ve been having is a week away and I am definitely anxious that something is off. I think I had a cyst on my cervix that burst and caused the previous spotting as it was one tiny flash of pink then brown for several days and the bump seemed to be gone. Yesterday I was checking the spot and also just the position of my cervix and all seemed fine and the spotting was slowing way down. Now today I’m having full red spotting. I’m hoping that I just irritated the cervix and caused this round but it’s definitely more than the 1-2 wipes of spotting I’d been having. I don’t have any painful cramps, maybe the mildest cramps but nowhere near a period or anything. I am roughly 5+1 by my best guess. This is my first pregnancy and I’m so anxious about it. I know it all could be fine but until I see the doctor I will probably have a hard time relaxing.

Also adding on for anyone else wondering about their own low or slow rising HCG levels- my daughter started at 28, then 46, then 147. And she’s a healthy happy 18 month old now 💞 so that does give me a little more hope. Maybe it’s just my normal?

@ohkaylabobayla I would just advise against touching your cervix right now because it’s full of blood vessels and an easily be irritated to a point of bleeding. I really do hope that the bleeding subsides / that you get a solid confirmation next week. I know the wait will be awful. Hang in there!!!

I’m a big mess over here. I went to the bathroom and wiped and saw brown discharge. I’ve had several miscarriages before so I instantly panic. So far there is no red just brown but I’m devastated thinking the worst. I’m debating going to the emergency room to get Checked out but the last miscarriage I had the er staff were not very kind to me and seemed frustrated to have another pelvic exam to do. I did have hcg levels done last week on Monday and Wednesday and the numbers looked good and were rising at a good rate. I just don’t know how to feel right now besides devastated that the worst is happening.

@littlemoonpie Sending good vibes! The anxiety after miscarriage is so tough. I'm actually right there with you right now... After two miscarriages earlier this year, I feel like a bit of a mess and am definitely feeling scared this pregnancy. I'm also finding that trusting the process (and my body) is really difficult, especially when in my last pregnancy I had no visible signs that anything was wrong. Yesterday I was noticing extremely light brown spotting and it threw me through a worry spiral that lasted the entire day. I started getting really obsessive about finding any sign that things were wrong. I really worked myself into a panic that probably wasn't healthy for anyone -myself, my husband, or baby.

I think it's completely normal that you "don't know how to feel right" at the moment. Honestly, I think all we can do is acknowledge that feeling and how valid it is, and if you have someone you trust around you to let them know what you're feeling, as well. Personally, I'm trying to have more patience today with myself and with the process and trying to stay out of that negative spiral I was in yesterday, because at the end of the day I won't know anything until my first ultrasound (which is thankfully coming up soon) and worrying so much now is not going to change the outcome one way or another. It's hard to put that mentality into practice, but I'm working on it.

Terrified to even be writing this, but after a miscarriage in March I can’t help but think the worst. Woke up to blood in my underwear and on my sheets. It was bright red, but now it seems to have stopped. I don’t know what to do or think. Saw heartbeat last week at 126 for 6w6d, but now I don’t even know what to expect. Scared is an understatement

update: I called the OB nurse and she told me that it could be the subchorionic hematoma that was seen on the ultrasound, but the doctor never told me about the presence of this so now I don’t even know what to think.
