AMA/High risk check-in w/o 7/18

This is a check in for all the AMA (Advanced Maternal Age) and high-risk mamas.

How far along are you?

How old are you?

How are you feeling?

Any issues/concerns?

Re: AMA/High risk check-in w/o 7/18

  • Omg I go here now (AMA)

How far along are you? I think I’m 4+4

    How old are you? 36

    How are you
    Any issues/concerns?

Well, this wasn’t planned, so we are still wrapping our heads around this. I never had the NIPT with my other pregnancies but probably will this time (I elected for NT before to get an extra US to ease PGAL brain and because I didn’t want to accidentally find out the sex). We are hoping to stay Team Green and not find out though.

Also I just feel old and creakier and wondering how I’ll hold up. I am more physically fit than last pregnancies and am starting from my lowest weight since college so that’s probably a plus!
  • @Wishilivedinflorida thats so great that you're more physically fit for this pregnancy, I'm sure that will help you a lot! We did the NIPT with DD (I was 35), it was very reassuring.

How far along are you? 5+5 by LMP

How old are you? 36, about to be 37 *eek*

How are you feeling? Physically mostly ok, just mainly exhausted and queasy with daily headaches. Emotionally just worried that something is going to go wrong. I'll feel so much better after our first ultrasound, come on August 15!

Any issues/concerns? Nothing specific, just generalized worry

  • @bbrahmbhatt I’ll be 37 when this one is born too! Luckily I know a boutique US owner from work and will hopefully get in with her for an early scan around 8 weeks because I don’t see OB til 9 weeks and they probably won’t order a scan unless there’s spotting. I’m jealous you already have an appointment for an US!

@Wishilivedinflorida it's standard practice at my OB for a viability/dating US at the first visit. I had a TON of US with DD because of my age, and I have a large serosal fibroid at my fundus that makes measuring my uterus impossible (I was always measuring 2-4 weeks ahead by fundal height). With DD I got one at 12 weeks, 16 weeks, 20 weeks, and then every 4 weeks after that to monitor baby's growth. I guess it's one perk of being a "geriatric mother" lol

How far along are you? 6+3

    How old are you? 39

How are you feeling? tire and nauseous

Any issues/concerns?  I have autoimmune issues and history of blood clots so I've been transfered to a high risk specialist.
  • So I had my first OB appointment yesterday. Because of my high BP, I'll be seeing cardiology, having and echo, and likely delivering between 37-38 weeks. That'll make me a February mom but I'm sticking around here bc my DD is still 3/8.

  • Hi, I'm 8 weeks at 35 yrs old with my first baby after two years of infertility. Feeling good other than mild nausea every other day & I can take a nap at any moment. I'm considered high risk due to Type 1 diabetes since childhood, and have had extreme low sugars as another pregnancy symptom.
  • Hi everyone - just curious with this question and I’ll ask my OBGYN when I see her for my first appt. I’m 40 and wondering if I’ll be induced before 40 weeks. A friend of mine was told she would be induced at 39 weeks and ended up going into labor before that. Any parents over 40 who were allowed to go past 40? I had to get pitocin for my last L&D bc my water broke and I had no contractions. Induction contractions were no joke 🥴
  • @Knottiec5e3d9ef612656cf Make sure you change your username to one that we can recognize easier. You may have to log off and back on for it to take effect.

Not sure about going over 40 weeks, but even at 31 years old I wasn’t allowed to go much past 40 weeks. I was induced at 40+4. Also I since had a “natural” labor without pitocin and can verify the contractions hurt the same. 😫
