2 year old won't talk

HELP I'm starting to worry about my 2 yr old daughter she just turned 2 in March. She hasn't began to talk yet. She just taps you or points and grunts when she wants something. She sometimes will say da or ma but thts it. Her older 2 sisters was already talking at 2. Can anyone help with what I should do???

  • I would talk to your pediatrician and see if she qualifies for early intervention services. Best of luck!!!

  • Definitely look into early intervention. Ask your pediatrician to refer you, or you can post your state here if you can't figure out how to get started and I can help find you a number to call. Early intervention is usually free (some states show for a small fee) and they'll come to your house until your child turns 3. Given the info you posted here, she may qualify for speech therapy.

Alternatively, ask your pediatrician for a speech therapy referral. That would go through your insurance (so you'll pay your copay at each visit) and you'll likely bring her to a clinic. Your insurance may limit how many sessions are allowed per year.
