No Periods After Nexplanon

edited July 2022 in Trying to Get Pregnant
I am 28 and was on birth control for 12 years with no periods. I had my last Nexplanon removed in January 2022 and began trying to get pregnant in early May. I had no bleeding until what I think was a normal period beginning May 29. It is now July 29 (60+ days into my cycle) and I haven't had any other bleeding. Starting about two weeks ago I've had bad headaches, nausea, and mood swings all of which are very unusual for me. I began using an ovulation test kit July 10 and have not seen a spike. I think that means if I was pregnant I would definitely be far enough along to test positive. But I have taken home pregnancy tests once a week since June 29 and all have been negative. I know there are non pregnancy related causes for missing a period. My doctor says I don't have signs of ovarian cysts or endometriosis. I don't have symptoms of PCOS or thyroid issues. All the information I can find online says your fertility returns immediately after Nexplanon removal. There isn't anything out there about it taking more than 2-3 months for your cycles to become regular. So I'm frustrated and here seeking community with any women who share part of this experience. Please comment if so!

Re: No Periods After Nexplanon

  • Hello. We don’t typically do one off posts like this here. You are welcome to introduce yourself in our weekly newbies post and you will find a group of very supportive and knowledgeable women here.

As for your question, I was on Nexplanon for a year and had it removed in April. One of my reasons for removal was that I was bleeding every other week. It has been four months and my cycle is not at all back to being consistent and predictable, though I am ovulating as has been confirmed by ovulation strips and BBT. If I were you, I would continue to push for answers from your doctor since this is not typical for after Nexplanon removal. Not having symptoms of having any of those medical issues does not necessarily mean there is no chance of you having any of them. Best of luck to you.
