Placenta Previa

Hi. I am in my 18th week and have placenta previa. I have an autoimmune disorder called ITP so I get ultrasounds every 2 weeks. I’m super nervous it won’t correct itself and am terrified to have a C-Section. I was able to do vagina with my son 10 years ago with no epidural and would love to have my daughter like that. Has anyone had this and it correct itself later in pregnancy? I’ve read up on it and 9 out of 10 times it does.

Re: Placenta Previa

  • Not me personally but a bunch of my friends and my sister. They all migrated by 25ish weeks.

I didn't have full placenta previa, but my placenta was close enough to the cervix that I had extra monitoring with my son. It fully resolved itself by the time I was 26 weeks!
  • In my bump group with DS a few mamas had it and I think all but one corrected itself.
  • Thank you ladies. Even though I read about it, it’s nice to hear of how many have gone through it and it correcting.
  • I did with a previous pregnancy and it also corrected itself. I was told to imagine drawing a spot on a balloon with a marker near the opening where you tie it, them blowing up the balloon. By the time it’s fully inflated the spot will be towards the middle of the balloon, far from the opening. Hope I explained that right!
  • I had it with my daughter and it corrected itself by 30 weeks - got some great 3D ultrasound pictures from it !
  • I had ITP. Had my spleen removed. Did you or ARENYOU on meds?
  • I have ITP. Platelets are already down to 83,000. Went through this with my son 10 years ago and they were around 43,000 when I delivered. I just get platelet transfusions and induced to have it planned. But about my previa, I was wrong and it is a partial. I’m at 28 weeks and signed the consent for a C-section. Doctor said there is still a small chance it’ll move but he’d rather have the delivery scheduled. I’m still super nervous. I want to deliver naturally like with my son and don’t want to be cut open. I’ve had so many surgeries I don’t want one to have my daughter. One of my friends corrected itself by 34 weeks but I’m trying to come to terms with it not correcting for me.
  • Also no not on meds. They tried steroids when I was prego with my son but they didn’t work so they took me off. There’s one other medication they can try with me if need be but we aren’t there yet.
  • I had an emergency C-section with my son and I dealt with a lot of stress/confusion/feeling like a failure for some crazy reason. I had planned on doing it all natural, but couldn’t because I had a crazy long cord and he wrapped himself so many times that he was strangling himself. C sections can be tough, but I think planned ones are at least a bit better so you can mentally prepare. No matter how your sweet little baby joins the world, you will have done an amazing job!
  • I've had two emergency c sections and one planned. The anxiety is very different but both exist. I had a lot of guilt after my emergency c sections because I labored and pushed for so long that I felt like a failure. The comments postpartum about how I took the easy way out, didn't really give birth, or how I should be honest about the "real" reason I had a c section hurt.
It helps to not go through labor before c section as far as healing goes but the anticipation of surgery and what could go wrong was definitely worse with my planned. You don't have time to think when it's an emergency. I'm a very anxious person who likes to plan and over thinks absolutely everything so this is just my experience.
  • Some ITP patients get their spleens removed to correct it.

Your spleen was removed to correct your ITP? When not pregnant my platelets are low but not to the point where I need my spleen removed.
