Birth/preparation classes

Hello moms,
I’ve just read the bump article about different types of birth/prep classes.
Curious to know if you start looking into this?
Also, a question to seasoned moms, any recommendations on the classes based on your experience?

Re: Birth/preparation classes

  • With my first pregnancy, we took some classes offered through our hospital and another neighboring hospital. We took a breastfeeding class, a baby care basics class, and a prepared childbirth class. I think they were worthwhile. Mostly, they reinforce what "What to Expect" says, but it's good to get a refresher. Also, I think it was helpful for my husband, especially, since he's not as big on reading "What to Expect." I think the classes showed him what he could do to be involved, even with breastfeeding (emotional support is key in the beginning).

  • We have enrolled for breastfeeding class, new born basics class, and understanding childbirth class for next couple of months
Just had our first session for childbirth class this week, and it was very helpful.
  • We’re taking a baby basics and a childbirth class through our hospital, and then are doing an infant CPR/choking class through the Red Cross!
