Just overall super sexy. Also, this kid beats me up. He kicks HARD.ย
๐ฅants/Raves: Rave is that I passed the glucose test. Also super motivated regarding work: I start trial this week, so itโs an exciting time and Iโve been working my tail off to prepare. Rant is that the blood test showed Iโm anemic, so I have to start iron supplements. Blech.
Anyone else on iron? The supplements always mess with my digestion, so Iโm going to have to do Colace regularly, too.ย
GTKY: What's your favorite children's book? For little ones, Goodnight Moon will always be a favorite since Iโve read it to each of my babies and still do. For bigger kiddos, Matilda by Roald Dahl.ย
I do the mega foods mini blood builders. I'm honestly not sure how they are for anemia. I take them when I'm not pregnant because of blood loss during my periods. (they are horrible and I faint) they have vitamin C to help with absorbing and they've never caused digestive issues. Of all the iron I've tried that's the best. It was the only thing that helped me not faint.ย

๐๐ผ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐ ๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด?: Physically pretty good still, some more stuffiness and sinus headaches this past week which may be due to the humidity where I live.ย Mentally a little anxious, but doing okay
๐ฅants/Raves:ย Rant - I'm having hot water issues in my apartment and it will get resolved, but is so annoying!ย Rave - Some family invited us to stay at their beach house in early August so I'm looking forward to a long weekend at the beach soon.
I got my breast pump from health insurance and signed up for a few classes, but that is really the area I feel most unprepared.ย Besides an online class is there something else I should be doing to prepare?
GTKY: What's your favorite children's book? As a kid I loved There's An Alligator Under My Bed and with my nephews I loved reading them Shel Silverstein poems.
@EmilyE13 Not a problem for me this pregnancy, but I used to deal with iron deficiency off and on for years. I found Palafer the most manageable iron supplement for my tummy to handle. Also, cooking in cast iron cookware or with a lucky fish (a little cast iron sculpted as a fish that you toss in the pot when making soups/sauces/stews) helped a ton.ย

๐ฅants/Raves: Rave: My 2 & 4 year old are at my momโs house this week and itโs such a relief to be able to eat what I want and not have to deal with mornings and bedtimes. Rant: Iโm just uncomfortable all the time. I keep having super weird dreams and needing to get up to per multiple times in the night. I know itโs not going to get better or easier either.

Virtual August 2nd and in-clinic August 3rd, both with my backup midwife who I'll be meeting for the first time.
Heavy! Definitely starting to run out of steam faster, but I've also been getting sudden nesting overdrive moments, like tonight when I decided I had to sweep my bedroom after 11pm. Also wondering if she'll be a bit ahead of her due date based on how many more braxton hicks I've been getting, though I've heard they are more noticeable in subsequent pregnancies.
๐ฅants/Raves: Big Rave! We had a family session with our wedding photographer on the 8th and she just sent our gallery. I'm OBSESSED!!!! She perfectly captured our son's toddler spirit and made me feel so beautiful. I adore her knack for artistic candids and it was also just so nice to see her again. It was a bit of a splurge, but we didn't do a maternity shoot at all with DS because of covid and I'm so glad we did this. I'll add a couple shots here. Credit to Lori Waltenbury.
Rant: My mom has been really hitting on nerves recently in many ways, but especially by challenging a boundary I set that I will not get in the car with her driving. I don't have a license, so she keeps wanting to drive me to help out, but she's recovering alcoholic with a history of lying, and she also is an anxious and aggressive driver while sober. Yesterday she was over and guilt tripped me something fierce for not trusting her behind the wheel. It was so upsetting.
GTKY: What's your favorite children's book? I have so many, but one that I recite to DS from memory is Love You Forever by Robert Munsch. As a kid I also loved a series of picture books each focusing on a different magical creature such as fairies, gnomes, etc. I cannot for the life of me remember the publisher or series name but I can picture so many of the illustrations and stories so vividly.
@EmilyE13 I know!!! My iron levels improved drastically when I moved in with DH because he always cooks with cast iron! It absorbs into the food.ย
@katiekins029 You might do well to ask through La Leche League International or the International Breastfeeding Clinic (they offer virtual appointments). Your OB may also be able to refer you to a specialist to ask.
Baby's Name (if chosen/sharing): no idea. I hate every name we come up with.
GD test next week or later this week. 28 week appointment on 7/28
My kids went from Chicken pox to some sort of demonic cold. My son currently has a temp of 103.6 and I'm going to end up taking him to the ER if it doesn't stay down with meds. We've done multiple Covid tests (both at home and lab test) and nothing.ย
๐ฅants/Raves:ย rant: with everyone sick I had to delay getting started on the baby's room construction. Our neighbor is doing us a favor to get it done soon and I had to put it off because everyone is sick.ย Rave: I absolutely love my new car. I'm so happy with no it. I had started telling myself I would be okay driving a gray car but I'm a blue girl and I live in a blue world.ย

GTKY: What's your favorite children's book? Well, we are huge book worms in this house. My absolute favorite books to read to my kids are Julia Donaldson's The Gruffalo and The Room on The Broom. I read Charlie Cook's Favorite Book probably 300 times to my son. We wore out the book. For slightly older kids I love "The Book with No Pictures". We have literally thousands of books in our house. My least favorite is The Rainbow Fish. I hate that book. I read Where The Wild Things Are to my oldest so many times I was relieved my other two didn't care for it. Although we do have an awesome Max costume that my oldest wore everywhere for months.
Baby's Name (if chosen/sharing): still tossing several around!
Check up this Friday, had a growth scan this morning (doing monthly scans due to having Covid last month)
Having some bad insomnia out of nowhere. I literally just toss and turn all night, flopping from one side to the other. I feel like an overcooked hamburger on a BBQ with my pillow between my legs. Still feeling much healthier than I did with my first though! Also, the hip pain is mostly gone this week. All I had to do was quit my daily walks and be sedentaryโฆ
๐ฅants/Raves:ย Rant- weโve been trying to make progress on a floor install to make our little office into a second bedroom, and every step is like pulling teeth and takes two weeks. Rave- Iโve been enjoying these monthly ultrasounds. Baby started out smaller (I think itโs just due to a late ovulation) but heโs catching up quickly.
Rave- pelvic floor work seems to be helping my issues with prolapse and stress incontinence. Just have to Kegel it up until the end of time.
Is anyone else (or has anyone with older children) just doing a pack n play with a bassinet insert to start?ย
GTKY: What's your favorite children's book?
The Bad Mood and the Stick (good for toddlers and slightly above). Weโre big book readers in this house though and have lots of favorites. I like Itโs Time to Sleep My Love for babies- the artwork is so beautiful. My daughter really liked the classic wordless books Goodnight, Gorilla and Good Dog, Carlโ maybe because weโd make up the words as something different each time, I donโt know. The art is fun in those, too.
