Introduce yourself and anything you think is important: number of loss(es), when you had the loss(es), diagnosis/conditions surrounding loss, etc. Dx is unexplained infertility but early losses, including one tested point to old feeble eggs and sperm that seems to be attracted to “older women” (kind of like my H who is 17 months younger and liked to tell me just how much older I am than him) CP Sep 2021; MMC May 2022

Status: WTO although today I O day.

How are things going? What is something that you are struggling with and/or what is going well? I’m forever struggling with the choice to try naturally for the next six months instead of transferring one of our embryos. I want to give the functional medicine program a chance but I feel like I haven’t been doing a good job complying. And then I’m also feeling left out as folks I know who are transferring are having successes.

Any testing coming up/any recent results? I'm doing the DUTCH Complete hormone test this week. I'm a little apprehensive about this since it requires drinking very little fluids (40oz between collections). And of course, I'm freaking out about messing up collection times, etc.

GTKY: What is your favorite song to jam to while driving? Anything from 2000-2010 era. I love JT's Futuresex/Lovesongs album; I have many good memories of roadtrips listening to that album.

Status: I don't even know honestly. I think TWW. I am just so frustrated.

How are things going? What is something that you are struggling with and/or what is going well? I had another ultrasound this morning and got the results on my portal already. My lining is still thickened (15mm) "suggesting retained products of conception". It was way down from the 23 mm it was three days post misprostol. I really don't think I retained anything and my google searches (i know i know) suggest this could be a normal thickness. I guess I will see what my doctor thinks. I plan on calling him this afternoon if he doesn't call me first. Not that I wish to be at an RE but I feel like this process would be so much clearer if I had a little more specialized attention.

How are things going? What is something that you are struggling with and/or what is going well? It's my twin's final angelversary. We found out they had passed on 7/3 9 years ago but my D&C was today. So I am in a freaking mood.

@ReadyForaB correct me if I'm wrong (@anniemarie887 might be able to do that) but if you had products of conception, wouldn't your hCG still be elevated?

@mambo5-2 there are so many dates of note when it comes to losses. Sending you hugs of support.

@acleverusername you would think. I have been getting some stark white and some VERY light pregnancy tests. I haven't actually had my HCG drawn. So, I guess I still have some HCG in my system. But not a lot since its barely turning most tests I have been taking. Ugh.

@ReadyForaB unfortunately that can still be a sign of retained tissue as our dear friend @anniemarie887 knows all too well. Can you ask your doctor for an hCG draw?

@acleverusername I have yet to talk to him but I might ask for it. I called to follow up and his nurse called me back to tell me she was "sorry but I miscarried". I legit laughed at her. Clearly she has no idea what is going on. Waiting for him to get a moment to call me. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

sorry i didn't catch these yesterday! @readyforab so i (ha, who is not a dr!) would ask to get your hcg drawn. my retained poc came to be known in the opposite sense in that we were tracking my hcg down for 8 weeks and it flat lined, a sono then showed "something" in there. enter 2nd d&c. and this was after light bleeding in the beginning for 2 days, and then a full week of bleeding which had us hoping my body was handling it on it's own. and i'm sorry about the dumby nurse, ugh. i didn't try taking tests at home, but last draw before the d&c was 17 mIU/mL. day after the d&c -- 3mIU/mL.

@anniemarie887 Thanks for sharing your experience. I have yet to speak with my doctor but the nurse called me back yesterday and said I was being scheduled for a D&C on Friday. All the US is showing is a thickened endometrial stripe and "increased vascularity", whatever that means. I told her I would not show up if I don't talk to my doctor first, I have a lot of questions. He is suppose to call me first thing tomorrow morning (I guess he is out of town). It has been a month since I took the misoprostol. I have had no bleeding at all since about a week and a half after taking it. I am so frustrated. Ughhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ReadyForaB i'm sorry you're dealing with this, as someone who has been down the benched road since march it really sucks. it is, unfortunately, absolutely possible to need a d&c after miso.

Sooooo update - finally talked to my doctor. I asked him if he knew with 100% certainty that I am not pregnant again and my lining is thick because of it being a very early stage pregnancy. He said he doesn't and canceled my surgery pending HCG draws tomorrow and Saturday. It just scares me because I took the miso 4 weeks ago today. How do we know I didn't ovulate. I have been getting stark white and very light pregnancy tests this past week. I feel much better that we are taking this extra step just to be sure. Yes, I would be willing to bet the super light tests are leftover HCG but I need to be 100% positive. Glad he agreed.

@anniemarie887 just curious, if you remember, what did your HCG halt at when you had retained poc? Mine this morning was 8.95. I go back Saturday for another draw.

@ReadyForaB mine was tracked weekly for 8 weeks after initial draw, it went 127-82-57-49-39-37-33-18-17
my at home positive was cd 22, i bled for 2 days cd 35-36, then nothing for 32 more days... bled for a week... like a normal period... but still had HCG in my system

Thank you for sharing all of this. Mine was over 43,000 right before the MMC was discovered but I haven't had it drawn since. If it goes down between today and Saturday I will seriously question the need for a D&C I think. It has been 4 weeks since I took the miso. We will see I guess.

@ReadyForaB here i go offering unsolicited advice, but if it were me and i was a month out from miso and still had hcg in my system i would opt for a d&c vs languishing on.

@anniemarie887 I get that. But I have been down this road before and last time I took miso it took about six weeks for my period to return. I would rather wait it out a little longer than go through with the procedure for the sole purpose of speeding up the process. If I don't have a period in a few weeks, I will reconsider. Everything I read says it could take HCG levels 9 weeks to return to 0. Coming from over 40,000, mine is under 10 in half that time. My doctor is comfortable with this decision. I will be curious to see how much, if at all, it is decreased from yesterday in tomorrow's draw. My lining has also decreased from 23 mm to 15mm. So everything appears to be on the downturn.

I found out my close friend is pregnant again with her 2nd after trying once. She will have 2 under 2 when this one is born. I am happy for her, but after the mmc and now trying for a few months now with no luck it stings a little bit. Just makes me emotional since my would be due date is coming up in August.

@acleverusername just got the results. 8.15, down from 8.95 48 hours prior. Not sure how to take the results. I’m glad they’re moving. I’ll see what my doctor thinks Monday.

Last update for now in my saga. My doctor called me tonight and I told him I had what seemed like a period. He said my Hgc was so low and lowering and that I’m probably releasing the rest of anything that was left. He said I could either come in for another ultrasound in a week (side note - he seems to prefer going by ultrasounds than blood draws) or, if I’m not in a super rush, see if I get another (?) period in 30ish days. I chose the latter only because it’s the same route I took last time and it all ended up fine and my cycles went back to normal. I am bleeding almost exactly to the day the same number of days after the miso as last time. If I don’t get another period on schedule I am to call for more testing. I really think it’ll work itself out like last time. We will see. I’m counting this as cd1 for now and moving on over to the wto threads this week. Thanks for listening to me this past week!

@acleverusername haha thanks. When I opened my period tracker this morning and took it way back to March 2021 and saw that my “period” started on cd 33 after I took miso last time (I for some reason kept thinking it was more like six weeks but I guess I remembered wrong) and today has been 32 days since I took it this time, I already knew before talking to my doctor I was going to do nothing. My cycles fell into a perfect rhythm last time and I’m putting trust in my body they’ll do the same this time. 🙏🏼 I had no beta draws last time to compare but we shall see how it pans out i guess.
