Clogged ear took ear drops and Flonase and now stressing

I had a very clogged ear for a week along with congested nose which made me feel like I was suffocating. Desperate to hear I went to an urgent care at 34 weeks 6 days so sign of ear infection but ear was a little red so they prescribed Oxaflocin ear drop to try. The doc looked up and it said minimal risk of absorption during pregnancy due to being in the ear. My Gyno said the ear drop was ok to take too. I took 5 doses total over a weekend to see if it worked, it didn’t cause clearly I didn’t have an ear infection, so I stopped the ear drop. I went to ENT at 35 weeks 2 days to have my clogged ear checked. Due to being pregnant they suggested saline and Flonase to try and open ear up. The Gyno said Flonase was ok to take too. I only did the Flonase 1 time. I took no meds with my 1st, this is my 2nd baby and I’m feeling so much remorse about taking the ear drops for 2.5 days and the Flonase once. I am Terrified I affected her somehow. Help!!!

  • I can’t speak to the ear drops but if your doctors all say it’s safe, I would try to relax - all baby’s major systems are developed, and from what my doctors have said to me, it’s really during earlier pregnancy that many meds are of any serious concern. And as for flonase and saline, I’ve had to use them intermittently for a little while now due to allergies and then covid (I’m 34w 1d) and my girl is doing great at the last sono 2 weeks ago :) Using safe meds to keep yourself healthy is nothing to feel guilty about!!

  • I take Flonase and it’s been fine, I can’t speak on the ear drops, but if your doctors say it’s all safe I wouldn’t question it !
  • You should trust your doctor and if you don’t, you should find one that you do trust. Your doctor wouldn’t give you bad advice and if you’ve had multiple doctors saying it’s ok, it’s ok.
