𝗨𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: consultation with a maternal fetal medicine specialist tomorrow, then dietician on Thursday. Gestational diabetes is the pitts but at least I'm getting another ultrasound out of it

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: Starting to be new kinds of uncomfortable. Belly is much more achey and heavy. Shoes and pants are starting to become difficult!

𝗥ants/Raves: RANT! The day before I got my gestational diabetes test, I found out my car had been stolen. I left it at the dealership for repairs, they were taking forever (they said it'd take two weeks and it had been 2 weeks and 2 days) so I called. Turns out, my car was gone and they had NO idea. I had a GPS tracker on it, but it had been removed over 2 weeks ago. Filed a police report, gave the cops the address of last GPS ping. Nothing from the cops for a week, so my husband goes to the address we gave the cops. CAR IS THERE. Call cops, they said oh no we don't go repossess stolen vehicles. Called different cop. They said the same thing. Called the original officer who never even checked the address we got and they finally went to get it. Yay. Car back, send to repair shop. Today, repair shop said car is completely totalled. WHAT?? Guess we'll just be a one car household for a bit because even with insurance payout, it's SO EXPENSIVE to buy a car now. UGH.

Rave: I love my husband's car, it's nicer than mine, so I get to drive that now I guess while we share it lol. Also highly glad we had full coverage on my car or else this would be an even bigger nightmare right now.

𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:

GTKY: Tell us about your nursery plans/theme ideas (or lack thereof). We plan to have her crib in our bedroom for around 6 months. My office is going to be her nursey, but I'm not ready to give up my office yet lol. So it'll be 75% baby room, 25% office hahaa. No cohesive theme, but muted earthy colors. Walls are already a nice sage green, and the furniture we picked out is mid century modern. Maybe some fairy/fantasy decor.

@stephers_ that sounds like a total nightmare!!!! We have to buy a bigger car and I've been putting it off because I just wanted to buy a gently used car and I can't.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: Miserable. Mentally struggling a lot from failing the 1 hour and my midwife recommended I avoid processed sugar the rest of the pregnancy even if it isn't GD because my body isn't metabolizing sugar as well as it did in my last pregnancy. Grateful for the new thread on this and I'm being really transparent with my team about the triggers this has brought up. Just not looking forward to some of the conversations around this.

𝗥ants/Raves: Rant: my building is working on our balconies and yesterday of course they were drilling at the unit next to ours right as I was trying to get DS down for his nap. It was so loud! Rave: Had a really great mama baby outing with DS yesterday where he was SO GOOD at lunch and we were able to sit across from each other with him in his high chair without issue. It was so lovely!

𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:

GTKY: Tell us about your nursery plans/theme ideas (or lack thereof). Baby will be in our room until she's big enough to be in DS's room, which is already all set up. It's not really themed, but has a dark dark green accent wall and reading nook and all the furniture and the carpet are lighter white/cream tones. It's my favourite room in our place! I'll also be getting a cozy chair in our room for night feeds.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: Uncomfortable. Babies are moving like crazy which really adds to my discomfort. Baby B keeps getting me right in the belly button. My leg cramps, restless leg syndrome, heartburn, and pelvic pain have all increased.

𝗥ants/Raves: Rave: Our basement remodel (adding bedrooms and a bathroom) is ahead of the game and may be done by the end of July, which would be amazing so we can get some of our living space back that has become storage. This goes in to a rant that I just can’t get motivated to get some of the baby stuff prepped since the house is kind of a disaster. It’s my own fault, but I really need to go through what we have to knock what we still need (especially amount of onesies/clothes).

𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:

GTKY: Tell us about your nursery plans/theme ideas (or lack thereof). No theme. We have just want to make it work. We’re collecting hand me downs from family and friends since we have one set of stuff, but need two more, so our cribs are not going to match. The babies will be sharing a room when they get home from the NICU and we plan to set up another bedroom as a changing/feeding/up in the middle of the night space.

@krysnicole1022 it was a nightmare but I feel like car shopping is even more daunting at this point. It's so hard to figure out what price is fine, and everything is going over MSRP if you are able to even find anything IN stock. We will also be putting off buying probably because it sounds soooo dreadful. I wish you luck out there!!!

@stephers_ Our car won't fit another kid and we only have one car. We absolutely have to buy one now. We wanted to two years ago but Covid hit and we decided to wait...and nothing has gotten better. We got screwed over once already.

@katiekins029 Around the 28 week mark you want to be aware of baby having regular periods of movement. My midwife told me that if I don't feel her moving for a long time I should then do a kick count, where I lay down on my side, hands on my belly and count her movements. She said if I don't feel 10 movements within 2 hours that's cause for a page. Typically you'll feel more than that in less time but that's the "okay, let's look into this" flag.

𝗨𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: Glucose test on 7/19. I have to call to book with my ob because the person who scheduled my appointment put me with some random NP which would be fine if I didn't have a lot of concerns to discuss.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: Exhausted and overwhelmed. I think that's just who I am now.

𝗥ants/Raves: Rant: the hospital submitted to my insurance that I had co-insurance (I don't) and even though I told my insurance I didn't the hospital said I did. So it was denied and and so has every other claim that's been made because...my insurance now believes we have other insurance thanks to the hospital. Now I get to spend hours on the phone having them resubmit claims and confirming I don't have coinsurance. It's really obnoxious. We had absolutely zero issues prior to that hospital claim. I didn't have any issues with previous appointments.
Other rant: we have to buy a car and soon. We tried to buy one a couple weeks ago and they sold it to another dealership and increased the price $3000.
Rave: I think I found a contractor. Our neighbor is one but he's booked solid until November. He said he would come by and that he could probably make it work even though he's got jobs lined up for months. I told him even if it's just the drywall work and not even the door that would allow me to complete the room.

My oldest had a Harry Potter theme. My second had a floral animal theme (before it was trendy btw) and my son has a dragon themed room. My son insists on doing a green dinosaur room. I kind of wanted to do a Lost themed nursery but that would have been more appropriate for my first son who has a Lost name and Lost birthday.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: my right pelvis is in SO much pain. I’ve been told it’s pelvic girdle pain and pretty common but the pain level is quite extreme. I can barely walk and it’s pretty discouraging. Hoping to get answers and treatment options on Friday.

𝗥ants/Raves: I’ve sent out my baby registry for upcoming baby shower and it’s been fun getting packages at the front door. I’m just really wanting to make sure I thank everyone as I feel guilt accepting gifts/asking for things like this. I know people want to give as my partner reminds me, but I feel funny about it all still. So much attention.

@wolfiebaby I love all the names you've chosen!!!! I'm a little biased towards Clara because we love it too but chose not to use it because DH has a Claire and 2 Clarences in his close extended family. For the pelvic girdle pain I haven't had it, but a couple of YouTube mamas I've watched had it and found pelvic floor physiotherapy to be really helpful. If you have benefits it's often at least partially covered.

@krthouse ugh the GD testing process is so stressful. Fingers crossed you get through the 3 hr with flying colors.

@wolfiebaby those are great choices! Savannah Rose immediately jumps out to me but that’s partly because my almost-5 yr old has a particularly sweet friend named Savannah.

𝗥ants/Raves: No rants this week. My company has summer shutdown the week of July 4, so we have been in Maine since Sunday. I haven’t totally been able to unplug because I have a trial coming up soon but it’s been mostly relaxing!

𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: When do your OBs start wanting to see you every 2 weeks? Mine want to starting at 30 weeks.

GTKY: Tell us about your nursery plans/theme ideas (or lack thereof). Baby will be sleeping in our room for at least the first 6 months or so, so I’m procrastinating. He will be taking over the guest bedroom eventually, and I was thinking of doing a travel/exploring theme with maps and stuff.

Baby's Name (if chosen/sharing): Still debating! We still like Henry or Gabriel, but they're both pretty popular so we're still thinking. If we go with one of those we'll have to do an unusual middle name

𝗨𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: Growth U/S and prenatal appt both on the 20th. Just had the GTT and CBC today (passed--yay! But have anemia-- boo)

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: Ok. Super tired by the evening and my right hip is getting really bad. I can barely walk around the house by the end of the day, although it's ok in the morning.

𝗥ants/Raves: This is neither a rant nor a rave-- or maybe a little of both? So I ovulate about 1 week past what would be expected for a standard cycle, and baby measured 1 week younger at the dating scan, but they didn't change my due date. Now he is measuring in the 10th-15ish percentile, although if you go by a later due date, he's in like the 60th. My care team recognizes this but still wants to do monthly growth scans just in case. I'm happy to have more pics, but it's also a little funny? DD was 8.5 lbs (they also said she was measuring small on her scans) and I have no doubt he'll be large-ish as well. Just the funny way pregnancy is calculated!

𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Do you all like belly bands? I'm thinking of getting one in case it relieves some pressure, but they also seem a little uncomfortable?

GTKY: Tell us about your nursery plans/theme ideas (or lack thereof). Baby will sleep in our room for the first year-ish, then share our daughter's room, so we haven't really added anything special. We are working on adding new flooring to the office/study now, which will ultimately become the second bedroom! Figured we might as well get that done now.

pretty good, all things considering. Exhausted all the time and the heartburn is really starting to kick!!

𝗥ants/Raves:
Rant: I always used to joke around about how much I disliked people, but really starting stand by that. My boyfriend got in an accident back in the beginning of June, and after weeks on life support and some complications that came up unexpectedly, I did end up saying goodbye as he passed away last week. I’m doing okay, as okay as I can be, just trying to really focus on me and the baby and taking care of ourselves as he made sure I did every step of the way so far. But people are idiots. His funeral is tomorrow so I’ve already been more of an emotional mess today than I would’ve liked to have been, and while in the store this evening I ran across this elderly lady I knew. I know she had good intentions and was trying to seem caring, but instead she went on for nearly 10 minutes about how anxiety and depression from such an event could harm the baby and I need to be careful with harming her on accident. Jump to getting in my truck afterwards and I completely lost it. I’m already a nervous wreck with this pregnancy after losing him, the last thing I needed to be told was I could harm my baby by handling this in the wrong way. On top of that are all the countless comments I get that the father is gonna leave me because I’m a teen mom and that’s just what they do, when no one knows that he was literally the guy who from the moment I found out I was pregnant dropped everything, worked more, and was with me every step of the way making sure he was a good dad. I just wish people would keep comments to themselves and realize that the only way I’m gonna continue to be okay is if they are helpful and not criticizing.

The plan was always to move into my boyfriends after the baby so we could raise her together. His room was a Jack and Jill style, with the room next door empty so we could use it for a nursery. I’m not completely sure anymore if that is what will happen come October, but his parents has been nothing but amazing and have practically raised me the last couple years, and are still very adamant that it’s okay to still move in for a time being and use that space. Would love to do more of the neutral/boho theme wherever I end up doing a nursery.

@daisyyyy I’m so sorry for all that you’re facing. My husbands father unexpectedly passed away this week- I know it’s quite a different situation than yours, but trying to healthily navigate grief while also celebrating and preparing for the life of your baby is such a hard tension! I think grief is healthy and necessary in the wake of such a challenging loss and I’m sorry to hear about the unsolicited advice and input you’re getting from others 💕 I am not sure what your thoughts and beliefs are on prayer but I believe in prayer and I will be praying for you as you navigate this season

@daisyyyy That's so hard. People get very weird around those who are grieving and often say or do some really messed up things despite having the best intentions. My sister was very pregnant when we lost my Dad and she also struggled with that advice from others. Whatever you feel while you grieve is valid and you do not need to modify those feelings for anyone. When feelings happen it is okay to let yourself cry or scream, and then keep breathing and the feeling will pass. It might come back, sometimes when you least expect it, and that's okay. Grief isn't linear. Sometimes it also helps to name your feeling when you have it. That might sound silly, but letting yourself say things like "I'm angry" or "I'm sad" or "I'm anxious" can really help you process it. Sending love, mama. You've got this.

As for heartburn, tums help me lots but if you find that isn't enough and it's really bad your care provider can prescribe a stronger antacid. Figuring out which foods make it worse for you and avoiding those can help too and trying to not eat/drink too close to laying down can also help.
