How to exercise

So I really didn’t have any sort of work out regimen before getting pregnant/ I don’t want to gain a ton of weight , and I have read being active like that can make labor easier. But I don’t know where to start. Joining a gym isn’t an option financially. Are there any apps I can’t get or anything to get me started?

Re: How to exercise

  • I personally use YouTube and skip the gym membership, just do your research on the YouTube instructor since they're not all actually trained professionals. As for apps, I liked the Nike app the best, but there's others out there

  • Between Oct 2020 and May 2021, I lost 30 lbs without a gym membership. I did buy a Garmin watch for $99 to track steps, but there are apps on a phone that can do it. I worked up to 12,000 steps a day and I did free YouTube workouts by Leslie Sansone Walk At Home. I call them "old lady" workouts lol. They are gentle enough for pregnancy, for me at least. I still aim for 12k steps a day and I try to get my heart rate up daily for 15-30 mins. I've added some standing ab strengthening. YouTube will have a lot you can do for free.
  • There’s a free prenatal yoga app I use when I’m not lifting weights. It’s called down dog. I love it because you customize your sessions however you want even length of time. Highly recommend. Be sure to get the prenatal version.
