22 weeks - no fetal movement felt yet!

Hello! I am 22 weeks preg and I haven't felt any fetal movement yet. I had my anomaly scan at 20 weeks and it went fine and the report was that the baby is active and that I have a posterior placenta. I do have a bit of a tummy fat (even while not preg), is that why I am having difficulty feeling the movements? I went in to check with my midwife yesterday and she checked the baby's heartbeat and it was normal. Should I worry?

  • @rach25elsa Is this your first baby? Sometimes it can take awhile to realize that what you're feeling is baby and not anything else going on in your body. If everything else checked out fine I'd just give it a little longer until baby's movements are stronger and easier to detect. You don't need to worry about things like kick frequency until third trimester.

@krthouse , yes its my first baby. Thanks for your reply, it does give me a bit of assurance :)
  • My doctor just told me a few days ago that lack of fetal movement isnt something to worry about until around 27 weeks. And the extra weight prepregnancy could be a reason you arent feeling baby yet
