Re: Weekly Check-in 6/27

  • EDD / Weeks + Days:  11w6d, Jan 10

Baby is the size of a(n): Lime

Team blue/pink/green: Hopefully we will find out soon!

Upcoming Appointments:  OB appt tomorrow where I think they will draw the blood for NIPT and then first MFM appt on Thurs

How are you feeling?: Still anxious and just hoping all the testing comes back normal.

Rants/Raves: We are supposed to leave for vacation on Friday.  My daughter has a slight fever this morning and I'm like noooooo.  Also I need her to not be sick because I don't want to miss my OB appt tomorrow.

Questions: Not any I can think of right now.

GTKY: What would your name be if you were born the opposite sex? (Or if you don't know, what's the strangest name in your family?)  I think it would have probably been David.  And we don't really have any strange names in the family actually.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 10 weeks

Baby is the size of a(n): guitar pic

Team blue/pink/green: everyone thinks it’s a boy, will find out in two weeks

Upcoming Appointments: just had my NIPT on Friday. Doing my EFTS sometime in the next couple weeks and then mid wife appt on July 18

How are you feeling?: soooo tired and nauseous all the time

Rants/Raves: wish I wasn’t so busy at work as being tired is taking so much out of me and I feel like I’m accomplishing nothing.

Questions: Is anyone else going to attempt to raise their child in a bilingual home? My husband and his parents speak another language other than English and I would like our child to also pick it up so they can converse with their grandparents and when we travel overseas. Any suggestions on how to make this successful? I’m working on learning it myself through duo lingo but I also want to ensure they speak English well.

GTKY: What would your name be if you were born the opposite sex? (Or if you don't know, what's the strangest name in your family?) not sure. Likely something wild lol.

  • @anniez85 we’ll be raising our child to speak Portuguese and English! My parents and I speak it and my husband is (very slowly) learning it. Our plan is to teach our child primarily Portuguese and have them learn English when they get a little older, probably closer to entering pre-school. My parents did this with my little sister and she naturally picked up English along the way.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 1/3/23 12w6d

Baby is the size of a(n): scoop of ice cream

    Team blue/pink/green: pink

Upcoming Appointments: NT scan this Thursday. Also should be finding out this week if we’ve been accepted into the midwife program we applied to.

How are you feeling?: Pretty fantastic! Physically feeling way better and we told our families and close friends this weekend so mentally feeling much lighter now that we’re not keeping this monumental secret.

Rants/Raves: We are positively overwhelmed by the love and support we’ve received from our favorite people this weekend. Baby girl is already so loved!

    Questions: none this week.

GTKY: What would your name be if you were born the opposite sex? (Or if you don't know, what's the strangest name in your family?)
My parents didn’t have a boy name for me. And we have plenty of strange names in my family! 😬
  • @anniez85 I wish I was bilingual! 10.5 years of French classes got me no where. PLEASE raise your child bilingual! Absolutely do not worry that teaching a second language will hurt their English. Learning a second language actually helps improve your first language knowledge. There are no downsides.

    EDD / W+D
    : 1.8 / 12w1d

Baby is the size of a(n): ripe apricot

    Team: blue 💙

Upcoming Appointments: Just graduated from the RE and had my first midwife appt on Friday. So now nothing for another month.

How are you feeling?: Really pretty decent! Nausea and exhaustion are gone. Just having trouble staying asleep at night, but Unisom helps.

Rants/Raves: I was never allowed to FaceTime my IFs so they could see their own baby during ultrasounds. But I asked my midwife if we can FaceTime during appointments so the baby’s own dads could be a part of it, and she said yes! So on Friday one of baby’s dads got to help answer questions for the Natera test, listen to heartbeat, and see a live ultrasound!

GTKY: I think my parents had it down to Seth or Travis. My mom still has the paper list of names in her jewelry box 34 years later 🥰
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 1/22 10 + something

Baby is the size of a(n): paperclip

    Team blue/pink/green: pink

    Upcoming Appointments: Thursday finally!!

How are you feeling?: still gross but little more manageable if I stay snacking.

Rants/Raves: rave—I have been waiting for my VA disability rating since I got off active duty and FINALLY have some ratings! I just want to be able to take care of some of the things I couldn’t while active duty (I’m looking at you, left knee). I am pleasantly surprised

Questions: anyone already have names picked out??

GTKY: What would your name be if you were born the opposite sex? (Or if you don't know, what's the strangest name in your family?)
aaron (my middle name is Erin)
  • @footdrbritt We’re naming our baby girl Celeste! 💜 Still working on a middle name.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 11+5? Jan 11th

Baby is the size of a(n): Lime

Team blue/pink/green: Blue but who knows what the anatomy scan will show!

Upcoming Appointments:  first midwife appt tmo!

How are you feeling?: starting to feel better!

Rants/Raves: rave: finally feeling better and like eating healthier and being able to exercise again rant: been so so so busy have not had time to do either even if I wanted to

    Questions:

GTKY: What would your name be if you were born the opposite sex? (Or if you don't know, what's the strangest name in your family?) I think Owen? Lol
  • @footdrbritt we knew my son would be Jack right away and if we had a girl we also know what we would name her tentatively but having another boy has thrown us for a loop we can not agree on one name lol my husband wants to wait until the anatomy scan at 20 weeks to confirm it is a boy before we dive deep into the name game lol
  • @sparklingdiamond I hope your daughter feels better soon! We leave on Friday too and I’m so worried someone is going to get sick (again)…

@anniez85 no experience yet, but my daughter is about to start Kindergarten at a dual-language K-8 school (Spanish). I am SO excited! I used to be close to fluent and am excited to pick it back up with her, and husband is looking forward to learning. Bilingualism has so many benefits. I say go for it!

@r_kenn99 love that name! My husband has an aunt named Celeste (though she goes by Lessie), and I’ve always thought it was so beautiful.

Also, +1 on starting a names thread!

    EDD / Weeks + Days: due Jan 23rd - 10w today

Baby is the size of a(n): tootsie roll pop top

Team blue/pink/green: unknown... this pregnancy is most like my boys but everyone is guessing girl

Upcoming Appointments: tomorrow!!! Ultrasound and NIPT

How are you feeling?: still batteling mood swings but staying positive (I am 40 and this is baby #5)

GTKY: What would your name be if you were born the opposite sex? (Or if you don't know, what's the strangest name in your family?) I was going to be Daniel Evan... my parents had 3 girls and none of the 12 grandkids are named Daniel (my so scratched it off our list too)
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 1/24 // 10w0d

Baby is the size of a(n): guitar pick

    Team blue/pink/green: TBD!

    Upcoming Appointments: July 12

How are you feeling?: Anxiety has been through the roof the last week. It seems like I get one good night of sleep a week, followed by several days of interrupted and not enough sleep. Hoping it’s just a tough week or two and not indicative of more sleep problems to come.

Rants/Raves: My wonderful wonderful MIL is leaving today after a weeklong visit. She’s been so supportive, insistent on walking my dogs for me etc. I am looking forward to hopefully waking less (she’s a very early bird and I sleep so light!) but otherwise will miss her when she’s back across the country. I’m just so grateful to have a caring MIL, especially with the estranged mother.

    Questions: natm

GTKY: It would have been James after my maternal grandpa. Each kid in the family was supposed to be James, but then there were nothing but girls across the board until my younger sister had her boy in 2013! He was the first boy on my moms side since 1989.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: either 1/17 or 1/19, 10 weeks and a few days. Had my first appt but no dating ultrasound yet

Baby is the size of a(n): strawberry

Team blue/pink/green: will find out in a few weeks with nipt

Upcoming Appointments: 7/6 to meet with midwife and do nipt blood work, and 7/18 for dating ultrasound

How are you feeling?: actually really good, I do have a short temper, and trying to pull it back in, my poor kids. Their fighting and bickering has been nonstop this past week, and I’m over it.

Rants/Raves: getting a lot of decluttering done around the house, we’ve been here about a year and a half and have been tackling outdoor projects, we will soon move to inside projects to hopefully get a few things done before baby, like laundry room, and closets.

Questions: I feel like I should have a dating ultrasound before the nipt testing? I feel crazy for thinking that but I have this thought of going to boutique ultrasound place to peek at baby before the nipt testing next week. What would you do?

GTKY: What would your name be if you were born the opposite sex? (Or if you don't know, what's the strangest name in your family?) I’m one of three girls, all of our names start with S, so I’m sure it would have been an S name like Samuel. (Two names on our boy list have been mentioned here, Owen and Evan :)
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: Jan. 18 / 11w on the dot!

Baby is the size of a(n): lime

    Team blue/pink/green: green for now

Upcoming Appointments: Internal ultrasound and Panorama appointment tomorrow!

How are you feeling?: Finally a bit more energetic! I was able to lift weights for the first time in three months this week and am hoping to get back into my usual routine as this freakin’ fatigue lessens.

Rants/Raves:  Rant: My MIL is trying to convert me to being pro-life after she learned that I am VIOLENTLY pro-choice on Friday. We usually try to be respectful of her religious views, but now she’s crossing a line. DH and I are now considering limiting her time with this baby, because she’s the type who would baptize it without our consent. Not happening.

Questions: Anyone else want to plan their own baby shower? I know this isn’t usually done but I’m estranged from my parents and don’t want my MIL in charge of this. Is it weird if I make my own rules on this one?

GTKY: What would your name be if you were born the opposite sex? (Or if you don't know, what's the strangest name in your family?) No idea what my name as a boy would have been, but the strangest name in my family is hard; there are a lot. My favorites are my great-grandfather Odilon Bérubé and great-grandmother Fèbronie Parent, on my maternal side (all French). My father’s side is Polish but their names aren’t quite so unusual.
  • @jesofthenorth I sympathize with you, truly. Only estranged from my mother, but it’s difficult some days in ways I didn’t expect. I wish you had a more supportive mil. It’s hard, but you’re absolutely right to draw lines wherever needed for you and for baby. Hoping that tension lessens for you!
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 1/10 - 12w1d

Baby is the size of a(n): plum

Team blue/pink/green: I really feel it’s a girl by my wife is sure it’s a boy. NIPT this week so hopefully we’ll know soon.

Upcoming Appointments: 6/30 I’m so nervous because it’s a physical, labs, and ultrasound and I hate going to the doctor.

How are you feeling?: My anxiety has been through the roof for the last week. I’ve been trying to work through it with my therapist but it’s been making me irritable with my family and I feel bad about that. Fatigue is definitely starting to go away though!

Rants/Raves: My wife is convinced that fireworks will cause hearing loss for baby. I want badly to go watch our 4th of July firework show but she is nervous. Raves: it’s been raining almost daily here so it hasn’t been above 100 degrees which has been so nice!

Questions: Have your aversions and cravings flip flopped? I hated sweets and loved meat, veggies etc at the start of the pregnancy. Now I can tolerate some sweets but cannot eat meat and most of my cravings from the start of pregnancy don’t sound good anymore 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

GTKY: What would your name be if you were born the opposite sex? (Or if you don't know, what's the strangest name in your family?)

My younger brother was named Derek Brian (middle name after my dad which is a family tradition) so I assume if I had been a boy that would have been my name. My name was almost Ashley Megan (yes that’s all a first name). My parents have weird name taste and hoped to have a third and name it Getty after one of the band members of Rush 🤦🏼‍♀️ Luckily they only had me and my brother! They got my name (Amber) from watching Jurassic park while my mom was pregnant with me.
  • @cbhclark thank you, it’s definitely an ongoing learning experience, but I never doubt that it’s the right thing! I hope your anxiety tapers off as time goes on. ❤️

@nuggetsmomma21 My tastes totally flip-flopped, too! I went from wanting dark, unsweetened baking chocolate (hello, my sweet, butter love 😂) to craving steak, taco meat, and eggs all day long. Definitely think the latter is better for digestion and wouldn’t recommend a chocolate diet! Lol
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: Jan 30th, 9w 2d

Baby is the size of a(n): cherry

Team blue/pink/green: we'll probably find out

    Upcoming Appointments: later today!!

How are you feeling?: the nausea is still real, but energy levels are better

Rants/Raves: Really not loving the food aversions, my heart wants coffee, but my body says no.  Rave: Ready for a long weekend!

    Questions:. N/A

GTKY: What would your name be if you were born the opposite sex? (Or if you don't know, what's the strangest name in your family?) Not sure.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 11 weeks 01/20

Baby is the size of a(n): Lime

Team blue/pink/green: Everyone including myself pink

Upcoming Appointments: had my first one Tuesday, have my next one in two weeks.

How are you feeling?: a little nauseated, super bloated, super tired

Rants/Raves: well I was going to rant about the morning sickness but my Dr. Fixed that for me!

Questions: anyone have a nuchal fold/thickness pointed out at their first appt? It’s hard not to be anxious about it but we lost our first pregnancy so now all I can be is a glass half empty.. just nervous.. I’m being sent to a specialist. OB was persistent that everything looked great and they just wanted a second opinion and they seemed really happy to see the baby was moving so much.

GTKY: What would your name be if you were born the opposite sex? (Or if you don't know, what's the strangest name in your family?) if I were a boy my name would’ve been Tucker (which I love and may steal for a middle name!)
