Hello Everyone
Have been TTC for about 3 years. Had 3 miscarriages, all very early on.
Went to see a fertility specialist who:
- Performed laparoscopic surgery to remove endometriosis and also did ovarian drilling.
- Prescribed a combination of Metformin and Letrozole.
Completed 2nd month of Letrozole and got a positive test result about a week ago. Took another test the following day and was also positive.
Went for HCG blood test, the results of which were sent to the fertility specialist.
He has confirmed that I am in fact pregnant and am around
5 weeks.
Doc says that it's too early to come in for a scan so we have an appointment for 3 weeks from now.
So, I have been experiencing mild cramps on my right side, feels like my ovary. Lower back pain and my upper leg is also feeling a little sore and sometimes lame.
No bleeding/spotting at all.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of thing? Is it normal?
Any advice would really be appreciated.
Thanks
Re: Pains in 1st trimester
The cramps: It starts on my lower right side, where I think my ovary is and it radiates around to my upper thigh and bum.
The cramps are not constant and not bad at all, some days I won't feel anything at all besides the normal exhaustion/sore breasts/nausea etc etc.
Spoke to my fertility specialist, he said that as long as the pain is not overwhelming and there is no spotting/bleeding, we should be fine.
A little backstory:
I have read some posts that mentions that this kind of thing is normal is early pregnancy as the body is changing/adapting/stretching for the little one.
Thanks
Been 2 days without any cramps. Am now at 6 weeks 3 days.
Still exhausted as ever, nauseous, constant peeing.
Have a long 2 week wait before appointment.
The cramps were never unbearable and I have read that unless it's severe and coupled with bleeding/spotting, everything should be fine.
The 2 week wait though to see the specialist seems like forever.
The cramps stopped a few days after posting this. Now I just feel a constant pressure in my lower tummy.
Symptoms came on strong - M/S all day - Sore breasts, extreme fatigue.
M/S has subsided over the past 2 days....Not sure if the fact that I haven't had any M/S over the past 2 days is something to worry about?
I am currently 8 Weeks & 1 Day.
First scan is on Tuesday.
Just an update on this.
Finally the day of our first scan came.
Pleased to report that all is good, Doc is happy, we're happy.
Heartbeat is around 160bpm.
We got to see and hear the heartbeat. What a moment!
Am currently 8 Weeks & 5 days
Another update on this.
Went for our first scan with the gynecologist. The first scan which was last week was with the fertility specialist.
So this scan was the the actual first scan with the obgyn who will see the pregnancy through with us.
Baby has grown since last week scan and has grown perfectly in line with expectations.
Heartbeat is very strong
Baby is perfectly placed
All round - Good news!
We are just short of 3 weeks until we are out of the first trimester.
Currently 9 weeks and 3 days
I hope this brings some peace of mind to anyone experiencing cramps during the first trimester.
In the third, it may become pelvic ..oh what was it..pelvic girdle pain!
Round ligament pain is generally off to one side, hurts like cramps--and for the commentor above, it may still be for you too at 5 weeks as any literature is a generalization and while people may fit within that curve there are always outliers.
5 weeks may not be too early for this I mean, although always safe to check with a doc too.
And the uterus is just expanding--uncomfortable and hurts..and pelvic girdle pain in the 3rd will not be fun either--the pelvic bone becomes soft and you can feel it move around often when you move. That can hurt too, or just plain feel weird.
I used to take baths (pre-pregnancy) where I would nearly cook myself like a lobster. I read how hot baths can harm the baby, after having a couple hot baths. Which that did stress me too, wondering if I did something very bad for the baby.
I am happy to say no known harm done (he's out and 5 months old now) so I hope that can help calm you too where likely one incident with the heating pad wouldn't be harmful in the end.
Baths were my de-stresser, and it took awhile to find a relaxing medium since I don't relax in luke warm baths but also didn't want to make them harmful.
I hope your cramping pain subsides, or at least becomes manageable if it is the 2 things I mentioned I endured through the pregnancy.
De-stress and enjoy ☺
(Also, when I first read of how harmful stress was, I stressed about stressing, so I do get the frustration in that hahaha But it does become easier when you can catch yourself and smile about baby and breathe-that is what calmed me in quick moments)
