Note: This thread will include discussion of infertility and loss. If these topics are triggering for you, please take care of yourself while reading and posting here. [Also, if anyone who considers themselves PAIF wants to regularly start this feel free, I took these prompts from another BMB, feel free to tailor]

This thread is for those of us who went through infertility testing and treatments before becoming pregnant. Many of us have had different struggles to get to this place and face different anxiety and concerns now. This thread is for us to support each other, and we hope it will be a safe space. Though this thread starts on Wednesdays, please feel free to post here at any time during the week, whether for good news or bad. Consider this an ongoing conversation.

This thread is for those who have experienced infertility. The struggles we discuss may or may not apply to those who became pregnant easily. If you have not experienced infertility, please be considerate and sensitive if you feel the need to post in this thread.

Re: Pregnant After Infertility (PAIF) 6/15

  • Hi! My husband and I started with fertility treatments in October 2020. 7 iuis (2 chemicals), one retrieval and 2 FETs (1 chemical and 1 miscarriage) later we naturally conceived 🤯

    I’m 6 weeks 4 days…we heard a heartbeat last week.

I have intermittent sore boobs and fatigue. Not much else right now so of course I freak out (our loss was 7 weeks technically but we never saw baby or heard heartbeat).

Next appointment is 6/30…and so nervous!!

    How about you?

Hi! Thank you @malbry7 for breaking the ice. Congratulations on your miracle!!! That is an amazing story! I wish you a healthy and successful pregnancy! ❤️

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for over 3 years. We have had 2-3 instances of possible pregnancies through natural means but never found a proper test to confirm the symptoms I was feeling before my period came.

We have gone through 2 egg retrievals on (9/2020) and (3/2021). We took a hiatus because I wasn’t ready to get pregnant with such little information known about COVID and infants at the time. But after reading the data at the end of last year, I felt comfortable enough to proceed.

I just went through a FET IVF transfer on 6/8 with a confirmed pregnancy on 6/17 this year. And the hcg levels appear to be rising ag a healthy steady rate as of yesterday’s blood draw. We are 4 weeks in. I’m cautiously optimistic.

I definitely am having waves of nausea, nipple soreness, bloating, fatigue, and insomnia. To tell you the truth, I don’t mind these symptoms because they reassure me that I’m still pregnant! And I’m grateful that I’m not working much to give me the space to be pregnant.

Here is my rant and this might be TMI but I need to real with y’all… the hardest part right now (aside from the progesterone shots) is the no sex/ no orgasm rule. Prior to the transfer, my husband and I had a great regular sex life that has been put on hold for over two weeks. The fluctuating hormones are probably not helping either.

Next blood draw is tomorrow to check the HCG and once I reach 1500, they will schedule my first ultrasound.

Praying for you and the rest of us who have gone through infertility treatments for successful and healthy pregnancies. ❤️
  • Thank you!

Yay! I’m so happy that your numbers look good! I have the nipple soreness, bloating and fatigue which always hits quickly but somehow passes before I head home! I’m with you- bring on all the symptoms because we’ve had such a long journey!!

Oh I feel you on the sex part. We obviously couldn’t after our last transfer (March 19) and then did the day of our D&C (I know that sounds terrible) because I knew we couldn’t for a few weeks after. Obviously we were super happy to when we were allowed but now haven’t since our positive even though I know it’s prob safe- just waiting for the next scan.

My rant is that on another app I saw someone complaining about having “another winter baby”- I had to remind myself that some people just don’t get how lucky they are sometimes!

Hope your HCG draw is good again tomorrow. Praying for you and all us other warriors too!!
