I NEED SANDWICHES

I am craving a deli sandwich SO BAD. Have any of you ladies found sandy’s that are safe to eat? Or any hacks? I’m desperate. 😭 I’ve literally cried because I want a sandwich lol.

Re: I NEED SANDWICHES

  • I think most of those recommendations are complete crap. There are salmonella outbreaks in fruit and veggies as often as there are in deli meats, but you’ll never see anyone tell a pregnant woman not to eat those. I eat deli meat all the time. Never had an issue.

But if you really want to strictly follow the rules, just heat it through and eat it anyway.

  • I’ve been settling for BLTs since the bacon is always cooked before the sandwich is made— it’s made me feel more safe. I know many people eat sandwiches anyways and just heat the meat up beforehand, which my doctor also told me was okay.
  • Just have one, as long as its from a reputable place.  I asked my now retired obgyn about this and as he said in moderation - he never in his career had anyone get salmonella from lunch meat.
  • Yeah my ob said deli meat is fine he's never seen anyone get listeria or salmonella from deli meat. Outdated information that is no longer a threat as long as you're eating from clean reputable places.
  • My OB said deli meat is fine if it’s heated up first. I agree with the other mamas—you’re more likely to pick up E. coli from romaine lettuce than listeria from lunch meat. Enjoy yourself a sandwich, mama!

My ob said it's fine as long as the meat is in date and well refrigerated
  • if you hear the lunch meat prior to eating it, it is fine.
  • With my first pregnancy I was the same. I ate/craved subway cold cuts quite frequently and had no issues. My recommendation is eat at a clean reputable place!
