Infertility

IVF Anxiety

Hey everyone! I’m 33 and have been dealing with infertility for 4 years now. We started going through IVF. First round failed and we are doing a endometrial biopsy then rolling into round 2. I have 6 more eggs left as of now.

I am an anxious human and IVF brought my anxiety to a high. I feel overwhelmed and panicked all the time since the first round failed. I plan to see a therapist next week but I was wondering how you all coped with the IVF anxieties.

I am also starting this journey soon myself. Seeing a therapist is a great way to work and manage your anxiety. I've been seeing one for years. Make sure you visit the right kind of therapist. I usually would work with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy psychiatrists as well as Psychodynamic. Whatever happens trust your therapist! Wishing you all the best.

  • The first thing that should happen after an IVF Failure attempt is for the IVF specialist physician to review each and every cycle carefully to possibly learn something from the results of the IVF ovarian stimulation process, or from any issues with egg retrieval, egg quality, and/or quantity, fertilization results. The main reason why an IVF cycle is not successful is embryo quality. Many embryos are not able to implant after transfer to the women's uterus because they are flawed in some way. IVF treatment is comprised of a series of steps, and each must be successfully completed before moving to the next step.  Men and women going through IVF typically report that their anxiety increases with each step, with the highest level of anxiety being experienced while waiting for the outcome of IVF treatment. Hope and anticipation of success typically increase with each passing day but so does the possibility of failure.  Successful completion of one stage doesn’t ensure success at the next, and uncertainty and low control are ever-present. help a therapist is a great way to work and manage your anxiety.
  • Hi, I am sorry you are going through this. IVF is draining journey, however, 2nd and 3d treatments usually get higher success rates. Good luck
