2nd Trimester

22 weeks - no fetal movement felt yet!

Hello! I am 22 weeks preg and I haven't felt any fetal movement yet. I had my anomaly scan at 20 weeks and it went fine and the report was that the baby is active and that I have a posterior placenta. I do have a bit of a tummy fat (even while not preg), is that why I am having difficulty feeling the movements? I went in to check with my midwife yesterday and she checked the baby's heartbeat and it was normal. Should I worry?

Re: 22 weeks - no fetal movement felt yet!

  • Did you tell her you haven't felt baby move?

You are getting good reports, so the posterior placenta is probably the reason you are not feeling anything yet.  I wouldn't worry too much, because eventually you will be feeling it all the time.  Lol.  Hang in there.
  • Honestly if this is your first baby it may take awhile. Anterior placenta can prevent you from feeling fetal movement earlier but posterior usually doesn't. I've had friends not feel anything until close to 24-25 weeks.
