Upcoming Appointments or Results: Bit of a down month for me, next appt. 7/5
How are you feeling?: Physically, I feel pretty normal. Mentally, I'm nervous that I feel pretty normal. Apparently I'm showing, though, since some random person I was helping at work today asked, "is there a baby librarian on the way?" I thought that was quite bold of her, since I really only look like I've had a big lunch.
Rants/Raves: Rave: we're finally telling people, which is fun!
Questions: Anyone else on thyroid medication? My pre-pregnancy numbers have been borderline hypothyroidism for a couple years, but not bad enough to take any action. At my appt last week I was prescribed some low-dose meds.
have my next apt on the 21st. But I got the genetic test back and it was normal (thank goodness!) and tomorrow in my gender reveal
rant/rave: I’m not normally one for a gender reveal, just not my thing. But I agreed so my daughter can be a part of us finding out. It’s very important she feel involved. The suspense is killing me! But everyone is very excited which is cool.
Question: I have been so itchy. Mostly on my legs. But there is nothing I see that would cause it. Like no rash or bug bites or anything. Is this a pregnant thing?
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Checkup yesterday, healthy heartbeat and baby moved while midwife was checking! Next appointment/ ultrasound is 7/8!
How are you feeling?: Less nauseous in general, but when it hits it really hits. And I’m still so sleepy—where’s that second trimester energy I keep hearing about?
Rants/Raves: Coffee makes me gag now 😩 I have also never woken up before my alarm so often—I think it’s because I’m not taking anxiety meds anymore, since I wake up with all this nervous energy. 😬
Questions: Anyone else getting really sensitive to touch? Usually I love little soft kisses from my husband but lately I’ve been like “Agh! Just give me a normal kiss.” 😅
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Results are in for some of our testing so far all negative which is good. They could see I was low in immunity for chicken pox which I thought was crazy they can see that. Next appt is June 28th with OB
How are you feeling?: I have been feeling a lot better. I can't wait to have a bit more energy soon so I can workout again. Tired of the heat flashes especially with our ac being out but hopefully those get better soon our my ac fixed😝
Rants/Raves:
Tired of my partner having a say on only the fun things like planning the gender reveal and shower but not helping with doc apts, testing, etc. He doesn't want us to have our gender reveal last week of July because it's too soon but wants it in August when we literally have so many birthdays for his family. He even suggested sharing it with his moms birthday after I said I want this to be special🙄
Questions: Anyone else struggling with liking their partners? I feel like I only like him 25% of the time now and other than my rant he's been pretty great lately. Also I keep focusing on bad memories I let go a long time ago but feels like they happened yesterday. Anyone else experiencing this?
Upcoming Appointments or Results: I'm going in for the NIPT and carrier screenings tomorrow
How are you feeling?: I slept basically all day Saturday, but otherwise my nausea has decreased significantly, which tbh has kinda got me freaking out even though I know it's normal
Raves: I tripped over a curb in college and broke my two front teeth, since that time I just had composite filling to fill in where my teeth were missing, but those have gotten discolored over the years. I had asked my dentist about crowns or veneers years ago and the estimated cost was $10k (specifically for veneers and I was living in the Bay Area at the time), needless to say I couldn't afford that. My sister's bf is a dentist though and he's giving me a friend's/family discount on crowns and I'm paying 1/10th the cost for all the work and my permanent crowns will go in on next Tuesday. So relieved!
Rants: I broke my temp crown over the weekend and got it replaced yesterday. Last night I woke up when I heard a crack and I apparently chipped the one temp crown again, ugh. Apparently it's common for pregnant women to clench their teeth due to stress, so my sister's bf is now ordering me a night guard too, lol
Questions: Has anyone else started daycare searching? If so, what questions have you been asking the providers? I found a list of questions online, but most appear to be geared more towards the toddler age group.
@sarahsays25 dude, this is me even when not pregnant. Some days I just wake up and I just want to be left alone and not talk to anyone. I've been like this since my teens. My mom always said she could tell when I was about to start my period because I became very irritable and standoffish, lol. I assume it's all hormone related
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 12/13 13 weeks today!
Upcoming Appointments or Results: next appt next Wednesday.
How are you feeling?: not bad. My nipples and boobs have hurt so bad since day one, but I guess since I never got morning sickness it’s something I can handle.
Rants/Raves: being social has always been tough for me, but it’s worse now being totally sober. I get cranky and I hate it. Not that I drank a lot but I did smoke weed and I miss that a lot if I’m being honest. But it’s worth it. I’m excited to meet my healthy little nugget.
Questions: just an answer to @jenkm1110 ive been on thyroid meds for many years. Keep up on your blood work. a healthy thyroid is extremely important while pregnant as I’m sure you know.
@jenkm1110 I’m currently on a thyroid medicine, Synthroid 25mg. My fertility clinic started me on it and my number was 0.07 above where they wanted it. The specialist I seen yesterday is retesting my TSH this month and I can probably stop it if I want. I didn’t think it was really necessary but it hasn’t been so bad.
Ultrasound on the 10th to check and see if a cyst I had has gotten smaller.
How are you feeling?:
Pretty good, some headaches and very tired.
Rants/Raves:
On vacation with family in FL and I'm so tired I can't stay up past 9 or 10 and I take a nap everyday so that's sort of frustrating. Also, not being able to have a drink 😅
Upcoming Appointments or Results: not until 16 week check at the end of June. Still managing to avoid gender results... but I'm afraid I'll cave soon and peek
How are you feeling?:I started getting headaches this week which sucks and accidently akipped and zofran while on a trip this weekend and super regretted it .. I was on it the entire pregnancy with my daughter so I'm expected to have to again. Always tired.
Rants/Raves: I can't believe daycare already have a wait list for infant rooms for March. I'm getting a tour scheduled next week but we'll be 5th on the list if I put my name down....
Ffc: I've finally wanted sex this past week for the first time since conceiving basically, definitely an easier O
My NIPT that I drew for on 5/25 came back no result and I had to redraw for it yesterday. Annoyed that I had to call and ask up on it to find out instead of being contacted. Hoping I'm part of the 50% that get a result on the second try. My 16 week ultrasound appointment is on 6/22, looking forward to that!
How are you feeling?:
I am mad at everyone lately. Been monitoring my blood sugar for almost a week now and it is consistently high even thought I'm watching what I eat and also eating very little because of nausea... diabetes center tells me to watch my portions because I'm out of range and I want to punch someone. I have another week of this before they decide whether or not to put me on insulin.
Rants/Raves:
Today's my husband's birthday. I took the kids to school so he could sleep in as a special treat. Looking forward to cake and presents with the family after work today.
Questions:
Anyone have experience with diabetes, gestational or otherwise? I've asked the diabetes center about my test timing of an hour after my first bite.... when it takes me 45 minutes to an hour to eat a small plate of food (because of my nausea) does that throw off the blood sugar numbers? Because there's literally no time between when I ate and when I test for the sugar level to come down. The center just told me to stick to the one hour no matter what, with no additional insight. I'm just feeling super frustrated over the whole thing.
@kdrn913 yep, from what I could find. The reasons for a no result are lab error or not enough fetal dna in the sample... which is caused by mom being overweight (me), or there being an absorbed twin (the panorama nipt test can actually find an absorbed twin in the nipt, but my doctor uses harmony nipt), or a some other anomaly with the DNA. If we don't get a result the second time a third try isn't recommended because it's not likely a lab error, but one of the other reasons causing the no result. Other types of testing are recommended instead.
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Just got the NIPT and NT US results back…all clear! Still have the cyst on my right ovary, but it appears to be stable in size and not causing pain, so we’ll just continue to monitor.
How are you feeling?: Relieved. I really felt like I was turning a corner earlier in the week with nausea and energy (actually even got on the stationary bike for the first time in months!) but then yesterday and today have felt pretty nauseous and crappy. Not sure how much of that was nerves though, because now, after the test and US results, I do seem to be feeling a bit better.
Rants/Raves:
I AM SO SICK OF FOOD. Please get me off this bizarre cycle where I can go from feeling so full I could puke, to seamlessly realizing nope—now I’m nauseous because it’s been >2.5 hours and I need to eat again! It exhausting and annoying and I never thought I’d say this but I am actually tired of eating and wish I could just take a day off. Also coffee. I still miss coffee and hope that it will sound good again someday soon 😢
Questions: Has anyone else been told they have/ever had an “anterior placenta”?
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Routine OB appointment next Thursday (06/16/22)
How are you feeling?: Nausea is mostly gone now. I’ve started feeling some of baby’s movements in the evening (especially if I’m really paying attention). The baby bump is starting to edge its way out and it has me feeling super self-conscious for some reason.
Rants/Raves: My husband is working on my last nerve this week. It’s been a busy couple weeks and I feel as though he refuses to help pitch in with things. Could be pregnancy hormones playing a role here too, but just feel stretched thin and tired of being the decision-maker.
Questions: None!
@bustabucket - I had an anterior placenta in my first pregnancy! I didn’t have any complications related to it.
@bustabucket I'm so glad you had a good appointment! At my US a couple weeks ago the tech briefly mentioned that I have an anterior placenta. She said it more as an offhand comment and my doc hasn't mentioned it, so I don't think it's anything to be concerned about--though it sounds like it delays when you start to feel baby move.
@jenkm1110 I’ve been on levothyroxine for years. Totally safe and important to get it checked every 6 weeks while pregnant! It took me years to be diagnosed while feeling bad because the range of “normal” is too wide (in my opinion). Even while not pregnant, I only feel lessened hypothyroid symptoms when my TSH is between 1-1.5. (I will note that I do not have Hashimoto’s or other autoimmune disorders that cause it - like 90% of hypothyroid people have that and may have symptoms even when TSH is in line.)
@sarahsays25 yes! This is me. I’ve been super on edge with DH lately. He doesn’t love it (obviously lol) but if I mention to him that I think it’s the pregnancy hormones and there’s nothing that I’m actually mad or upset about… then he can handle it better. 😂
Upcoming Appointments or Results: just had an appt this week. I had to pee in a cup and was dehydrated so they said to drink more water. I’m going to assume it’s because we had just driven back from a little weekend trip and I had held off on fluids just for the morning so I could try to stop fewer times, lol. I usually avg 80 oz of water a day plus anything else like morning coffee or afternoon herbal tea. Everything else is looking great - baby’s heartbeat was in the 150’s and I’m starting to feel the occasional flutter!
How are you feeling?: Feeling a little down because I’ve gained nearly 10 lbs so far - I have had to snack every 2.5 hrs or else I start to feel nauseous. So hopefully I can taper that extra snacking off soon. That being said, my energy is starting to come back. Ready to get back into some strength training if I can get the motivation.
Rants/Raves: I just bought the baby’s going home outfit which I’m going to use as part of our announcement. It’s soooo cute and I’m starting to get really excited!
@portentosa Im type 2 and I am 12 weeks. It can be hard finding a balance but it’s possible! My OB wants me focusing on balancing out carbs with proteins. I’ll see MFM at week 18.
@jenkm1110 I'm on thyroid meds too. After my first daughter my thyroid went nuts and they said it was pregnancy induced. I was fine for a bit then off as soon as I got pregnant again.
Re: Weekly Check-In 6/6

12 weeks 5 days
None for now!
