I am really struggling to stomach water. Drinking water now makes my nausea much much worse. If anyone else has experienced this, what are you drinking to ensure you are hydrated?
I need ice cold water! I also have these strawberry lemon tea “infusion” bags that help. Drinking water doesn’t have to solely be straight water, just hydration. So eat watermelon, make a smoothie with coconut water, mix in blueberries or rosemary or basil and a citrus, etc!
This pregnancy I can only stomach ice cold water. Last pregnancy most of my hydration came from lemonade. Just drink what you can as long as it's not a diuretic like coffee or tea and you should be okay!

I've had to switch to Gatorade, and like @sunshine2417 said, really upping the water content of my foods, like by having soup for dinner. I also try and eat spicy things so I need the drink to cool me back off, but then I risk heartburn if it's after lunch 🤷
I haven’t been able to drink water either. Pedialite popsicles have helped me ditch the headaches from dehydration and also sometimes iced tea mixed with lemonade stays down
@novtiger I’ve really been trying to drink more lately. It really helps me to have a cup /bottle with a straw. I have an insulated straw cup at home and at work, and I just I got a leak proof straw bottle this weekend so I’ve been enjoying that- my toddler loves it too.
I try to drink 80 oz/day but I think I’m lucky if I do 40. The new bottle is exciting so I might have actually reached my goal.
I was a pretty big water drinker pre-pregnancy so I’m not sure how helpful my input will be. Also I grew up with kidney issues and am prone to UTIs. I even got a UTI already around 8ish weeks pregnant. So I carry a water bottle with me at all times. My water bottle is 32oz and I usually try to drink at least 3 of them daily. I know it is difficult but it is worth it to avoid UTI symptoms. A couple of possible helpful recommendations would be to buy yourself a cute new water bottle that you really like that has a good straw/mouth piece which makes it easier/faster to drink. This might encourage you to drink more? I also second what other people said by getting creative with your water. I.e. add lemon, or orange slices, cucumbers, you name it.
Lastly, if I am feeling really dehydrated I will drink a large glass of water with Liquid IV in it. This has extra electrolytes in it and really helps to hydrate you. I try not to rely on these and drink them often. But especially if I have a headache I will drink one of these instead of taking tylonel to see if it will do the trick before taking anything.
I have a 24 oz bottle and usually get through 2-2.5 of them a day. I do drink less than most people because I have congenital hyponatremia (inherited low sodium) so I have to be careful not to drink too much to dilute what I do have. I just mentioned to hubby though that we'll probably have to get a can of powdered gatorade so I can have one of those daily. The extra fluids from pregnancy definitely don't help my sodium levels and caused some issues in my last pregnancy.

I have hyperemesis this time 🙄 so I feel the struggle lol. Unfortunately I’ve only been able to drink Gatorade or vitamin water. I know it’s a lot of sugar which makes me feel SO guilty, but I’ve been in the hospital THREE times for dehydration. So at this point, screw it!
My water bottle is a whopping 64oz and I try to drink 2-3 a day. Hear me out! I'm a teacher and I'll be damned if I used the kids' water fountain 🤢 Which means I use the staff room to fill up. But I only get there once maybe twice a day, but not until 12 so bigger water bottle means I can go longer without needing to refill. Also, I couldn't stomach plain water during the first tri so I used the True Lemon packets and they really hit the spot. Now, they trigger my indigestion so back to plain water for me.
Thanks everyone for the answer of how much water they are consuming. I have two 40oz water bottles that I finish during my 8.5 work shift. I have no issues drinking plain water.
An educated guess of my total fluid consumption, I would say 100 oz daily.
There are all this blanket statement of pregnant woman need to drink this much amount of water and I am not sure if it is applicable for everyone because I feel like since we are made up of 60% water, our water consumption should be weight based instead of a blanket recommendation.
@novtiger the recommendation is 0.5 oz per lb of body weight. If you feel you’re drinking too much do that calculation and see how your weight based intake is.
We’re pregnant but we don’t need to drown ourselves to stay hydrated and if we feel we are requiring more than the recommendation, we need let our providers know asap to find the cause. Over hydration can cause low sodium and other electrolyte imbalances.
I am totally someone who is usually over-hydrated and this pregnancy I have decided to listen more to my body and pay attention to the color of my urine rather than just drinking a certain amount. I find it frustrating that providers usually just tell us that no matter the problem we need to just drink more water. It's not always the answer.
I hope my comment didn't trigger any negativity or irrational expectations. I don't drink as much as I do because I'm told I need to. I genuinely just always feel very thirsty. It's gotten worse with the hot weather and lack of ac in my classroom 😖 I should have also mentioned there's usually a massive block of ice in the bottle that takes up a lot of space. I only carry the large bottle because I can't refill until every 4 hours. Just wanted to clear the air!
