Re: Weekly Randoms 5/25

  • Just got back from DD's preschool graduation. It was always going to be an emotional day, but, wow. I'm a mess today. At least I'm WFH this afternoon so I can ugly cry in the peace of my own house.

  • Unisom has been an absolute lifesaver! One Unisom (specifically the one with doxylamine succinate). I can get through my whole day without pregnancy nausea.
  • @daffodil_shoe how do you stay awake?! That knocks me out for the count and I drag the rest of the day (but without feeling like I’m going to puke on people)
  • @footdrbritt oh sorry I should clarify, I take it before bed! I still feel great for the majority of the next day. You can always start out with just half a pill if it makes you feel drowsy the next day. My body is used to it because I’ve been using Unisom for years to help me sleep during the day if I have to work night shift at the hospital.

Guys... I can NOT stop freaking out about how high my HCG was at my draw on Tuesday.  I was exactly 6 weeks (according to LMP, but temping had me at 5w6d) and my levels were 43,082.  I am terrified there is something wrong or I am having multiples (we were on the fence about having one more baby).  I know complaining here will do nothing and I just have to wait for a scan (that isn't even scheduled yet!!!!!!) but I just want to vent.  The wait is killing me. Ughhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

  • Just had someone tell me that people love telling pregnant women what to do and that I should do what’s best for me. And then she proceeded to tell me 3 times I should get an epidural.  :|
  • @r_kenn99 dear lord 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 I usually just say ‘bless your heart’ or start talking very graphically about my first delivery which usually makes them shut up.
I wish I could say it gets better but it totally doesn’t because people are intrusive
  • @daffodil_shoe ahhhhh my 2 year old just had surgery so right now that would just be a bad time for my husband at night😂 but I’ll try that this weekend and see if it works. I have a bunch of B6 too to try. Last time I ended up with an Rx for something so I’m not optimistic
  • @ReadyForaB I am not sure how far along I actually am for sure so my HCG numbers are also making we wonder if it’s multiples which terrifies me! I’ll know when my US is by tomorrow tho!
  • It’s been a while since the last time I was actually pregnant, so I’ve been out of the loop. I see alot of people on here getting multiple scans, ultrasounds, prenatal visits early on but I don’t even have my first initial visit with my OB until 9 weeks. Does that sound normal?
  • @tryingktogku keep me posted!

  • Anyone else on their second pregnancy feel like their already looking pregnant 😂 I know I’m just super bloated but man I don’t know how I’m going to hide it if my belly just keeps growing rapidly from here lol
  • bwow615bwow615 member
@knottiec808910f4dd25765 i am scheduled to be seen at the birth center for my first appt at 10 weeks. I feel like I was seen earlier with my other two pregnancies. Time is moving quickly, just trying to remain patient :)
  • bwow615bwow615 member

@tryingktogku yes! Third pregnancy and I feel like I am totally showing. It’s probably just bloat, I was wearing my normal clothes with my first pregnancy well into the second trimester.
  • @bwow615 Yes! This is my third pregnancy also and I feel like I was seen a lot sooner so it made me wonder if the process has since changed.

@tryingktogku Me! I’m mostly bloated at night. I look I could be 5 months instead of 5 weeks lol
  • @tryingktogku yep.  I wore maternity jeans to dinner last night.  Shhhh! Haha!

  • Okay, who is doing NIPT?  I refused it with my son against my doctor's wishes.  But I was 28 and had a completely textbook pregnancy.  I am 34, 35 this summer, this time around.  My logic last time was that I didn't want to be stressed out over a "possibility" and it would be what it would be.  This time, with my age, I am wondering if I should go ahead with it. I am torn.  Part of me feels that way I did 6 years ago.  The other part of me wonders if I am being stupid.   I know this is such a personal decision, just looking to see what others are doing and why or why not.

  • @ReadyForaB we declined the last 2 times and probably would have again (we PGS tested this last set of embryos so will decline again in lieu of that), personally it didn’t matter to me because I would have had anxiety over results.
  • edited May 2022
@ReadyForaB I didn't do it with either of my other pregnancies - it wasn't even offered. If insurance will cover it this time (I'm the same age as you, will be 35 in the fall), then I'll do it. If I have to pay OOP, then I probably won't.

ETA- IIRC, the reason it wasn't offered before is my OB had me fill out my history/risk factors and I didn't "qualify" for additional testing. Due to my age, I might now.
  • @jennifer_louise Now that you say that, I now remember it was actually the quad screening I denied.  I wasn't offered the NIPT either.  Do they still do a quad screening?  What is the difference between a quad and NIPT.  So many questions lol.

No idea @ReadyForaB. It sounds like it would fall between the NIPT/NT and the anatomy scan.

  • @ReadyForaB we’re going to do it. I’m 31 so I don’t really have concerns but my DH requested we do it. I read that Aetna and United HealthCare no longer have an age requirement to be eligible for coverage.
  • @ReadyForaB We are doing it.  I am 35 and we also have a history of loss related to a chromosome issue.  But that particular issue can't be picked up on the NIPT since it was so rare.  I personally just feel better doing it.  With the issues Jasmine had, we were having to prepare to relocate to a specialist so I guess I just like to be prepared just in case.  It didn't change how I felt about the pregnancy, I was determined to carry her to term.
  • Anyone else feeling just Exhausted? I was going to go get groceries after work and clean my house but I just can’t wait to make it to my couch
  • @tryingktogku I am completely exhausted. I feel like I am barely getting the bare minimum of my work done and the house is a disaster. How have you all been sleeping? I wake up multiple times a night feeling like I need to throw up. Is this normal? I have started to eat a cracker and drink some water when I wake up and I’ve been throwing up less since I started doing that, but it’s hard to get a good night sleep when I am waking up so much.
  • @thepalmtree definitely look into unison/vitamin B for night time nausea! But yes I’m up a million times and I just started a new job and I’m like falling asleep during training and coming home right after for a snooze most days 😂

We are visiting family in a different state this week. We chose to attend a minor league baseball game tonight. It was the longest game everrrrrr. The final score was 19-2. The kids had fun but I chose to partake in concession food and now and playing that game where you don’t know what your stomach ache is going to cause. We got home around 10:30pm which is so late for my kids. I really do hope they sleep in and I hope my stomach ache magically disappears. The big bonus of the night was there was a fireworks display after the game and it was so worth it. The kids faces and expressions were everything.
  • I work at an OBGYN office. They still offer the quad screen, but they also have the Integrated Screening which is a little more informative than the quad screen. Integrated (2 parts) screens for Down syndrome, trisomy 18, or an open neural tube defect. I believe quad screen is only Down syndrome and spina bifida?

Me feeling grumpy about all the one-off "knottie"s who are messing up our board organization...

  • @jennifer_louise same. I generally completely ignore any posts people make if their user name is “knottie.”
  • @jennifer_louise @daffodil_shoe I believe we are supposed to direct them to the weekly/ daily thread and tag @ bump admin to remove the post! It may help keep the board clean and help the newbies know how it’s run!
  • Thanks for doing all the legwork @tryingktogku
