Gardening

I'm not sure if there are any other gardeners in this group but I feel like I saw some people mention that =) I thought maybe we could have a place to chat about it because if you're anything like me you're a little obsessive lol.
We're planning a rather large intensive garden this year where the prices of groceries is going so nuts.
What are you growing? Do you have anything in the ground yet?

Re: Gardening

  • Frost tender things are no beuno here until the first week of June, but I do have peppers and tomatoes happily growing under my grow light for the moment, and I just started some broccoli. We're going to get some new compost in 3 weeks or so and then I'll be in the garden starting our first round of carrots, radishes, peas, and leafy greens!

  • I just planted a hydrangea bush and dahlias yesterday! Going to work on my planter gardens because… rabbits. But I am seriously trying to get potatoes and cucumbers this year. A
  • I’m so exhausted right now that I can’t even think about gardening yet, but I do love it. Need to find some worry free plants and crops for this year. Maybe potatoes 🥔

  • @database6 lol, gardening is kind of meditation for me so I do it to keep my sanity, but yeah, it's definitely taking more out of me this year doing this in the first tri. Luckily when we plant out I'll be in 2nd tri this year, not 3rd like I was for my other 2 kids XD 100% do not recommend lol

wow, I can’t believe you guys feel well enough to do this.  I literally can barely MOVE I’m so sick.  So sad cause we’re homesteaders and get our food from what we grow…
  • @knottieb78d750e3dd941db if I was planting out now or growing much more I'm not sure how much I could do. We're still at risk of a hard freeze though so I'm still in prep mode. And I only grow in ~175 sqft, albeit rather intensively.

  • I have spent some time caring for our fruit trees over the past week and am in the (ever slow) process of checking, repairing, and turning on our drip system.  This year whatever comes up from last year is what will grow.   I am guessing it will be a ton of greens, tomatillos, tomatoes, peppers, and random herbs.
  • Today while my daughter napped I up potted all of my tomatoes and broccoli. I have now officially ran out of room on my shelf 😂 definitely needs to hurry up and warm up so I can get some of this in the ground!

  • I know I'm like the only one who posts in this thread lol, but I really love gardening and love to share it. I went over to my best friends house today to put in most of the big garden. Took me about an hour to do and we have most everything in except a few things I forgot the seeds for and some hot peppers that we're going to be buying.
We have in or are putting in - Tomatoes, peppers, peas, carrots, radishes, lettuce, spinach, broccoli, onions, beans, cucumber, zucchini, corn, pumpkin, watermelon, cantaloupe, potatoes. There are also permanent patches of blueberries, strawberries, rhubarb, blackberry, and raspberry. Yes, we are extra. In all things lol
