I am thankful for the gluten free food and treats that pop into my room every now and then from the Culinary class because two of my senior girls also cook gluten free and one of them is gluten free (if not celiac). I am currently a very happy, well-fed chonk after having surprise homemade-pasta lasagna for morning snack.

Also, Sweden and Finland applied for NATO membership yesterday and Turkey can go suck a rotten egg <3

  • Thankful I was able to get baby into the daycare we really wanted! Spoke with them yesterday and the owner says he has a spot waiting for him!

@whitta1015 that is such a relief! We’re still playing the waitlist game.
  • Have the day off today and got my hair coloured and styled nice! Enjoying the sun and planning to get a nice meal on a patio for dinner 😎
  • @laj0217 Hoping you get into the one you want!!
  • @pangolindrome Double yay for Sweden and Finland applying for NATO membership! I thought of you when I saw that in the news.

@jhysmath That is so sweet! And I can't wait to see the new Downton Abbey movie  :)
  • @mamamoomoo12 so good to hear that you’re feeling better!

@pangolindrome my sister is gluten free so I’ve been introduced to lots of new gf eats at her house this week - I’ve been surprised by how good they are and how many options exist for everything!

I’m grateful to feel some strong baby kicks this morning, after little to nothing yesterday and last night. I was up all night just hoping to feel her move and I did, but nothing like I was used to. Drank some orange soda this morning and lied down for awhile and that did the trick! It’s been an eventful few days of traveling and helping with my 3 month old nephew so she probably just needed a little down time.
  • @runsonoatmeal Yeah, 2020s are way better than the 1990s could ever have dreamed of being. If someone is having distinctly gluten free-flavored food that’s different and bad, it’s cheap and poorly made. It is very different to make and bake but it isn’t special diet-flavored for sure.
  • @pangolindrome speaking of gluten free, 3 of my sisters eat gluten free and 2 of them dairy free on top so knowing what foods consist of has been in my life my entire life. I had to try hard not to LOL at an coworker who was checking a box of regular Ritz crackers to see if they had gluten in them🤣 I told her that any crackers that were gluten free would probably have it written in big letters on the front.
  • @babywiik Oh yeah, that is a familiar life. I was lactose intolerant until I was 12 and my mom is both celiac and allergic to milk protein. My personal favorite was this flight attendant who brought me food and said that he had been eating gluten free for a while and “Doesn’t it just make you feel so clean?” My response was that “Yes, the ability to process food and lack of debilitating pain are very cleansing.” It was kind of snarky but it just really got to me, and I am a little proud to have had a response.
About the labeling, even ketchup is popularly marked as GF so… crackers definitely would be 😆
  • @pangolindrome lol at your comment to the flight attendant😂 would that be along the same lines as wearing glasses to make you feel smart?😆 I mean, eat what you want for whatever reasons you want. For a while there, eating gluten free was a fad diet and so many people would roll their eyes when they heard someone ate gluten free. I always felt bad for people who legit can't tolerate gluten. No one rolls their eyes because someone has a peanut allergy.

I had my first baby shower today. Super thankful for all my husbands family who got us started on some of these needed items. Also, my sister in law loaded us down with items from her one year old, including a pack and play.
  • Thankful for this beautiful MN weather! It was a bit chillier than I was hoping, but it didn't keep us from spending all weekend outside at home! On Saturday we put up monkey bars for DS1, then my sisters and my brother's wife came over after dinner for a fire with s'mores. Sunday DH's brother came over with his wife, kids, and their pup. We had BBQ pulled pork on the pellet grill, homemade mac'n'cheese, cornbread, lemon loaf, and pasta salad. The kids took turns on the little ATV and jumped on the trampoline, the dogs played fetch with the chuck-it, and we all sat around in camp chairs and on tailgates just soaking it all in. It was a perfect weekend!
  • @maple1422 sounds like one of those weekends that reminds us why we live in MN ;)<3
