UO Thursday 5/19

I'm gonna say it... kids don't (always) tell the truth.
The number of times I have had a parent tell me that their kid "said" such and such happened even though I was actually there is more than I can count.  I don't think kids do it on purpose all of the time it is just that they don't have a lot of perspective on different situations. For the most part though I do listen to all sides, but I have encountered some situations where a kid has just fabricated something to put the teacher's attention on something else.

Re: UO Thursday 5/19

  • Oh my kid makes things up all the time. ALL the time. Usually it starts out as an innocuous story about school and ends up as "and then <teacher> let me make a band and we watched Star Wars all day!"

  • I don't think that anyone should have the right to complain about gardening being "an eyesore" when someone is growing food 😡
I put out some grow bags for potatoes, out of the way, and I'm pretty sure my upstairs neighbor is going to complain about them.

I think that in certain neighborhoods when you have agreed to the HOA rules, you shouldn’t let your gardening look like crap and be an eyesore. But I also think more people should grow their own food.

My UO is I get annoyed when someone asks me if I want a plastic bag to put a couple of things in. Not at the grocery store, but getting a doggy bag from a restaurant or at the gas station. I think plastic bags should be the new straws, they are so much worse. I always politely decline, but I hate it.

ETA: I’m not trying to say your tomatoes in a bag out of the way look like crap at all. Worries this was going to be taken in the wrong context.

  • I did move the bags closer to our patio so they at least aren't spread out too far. We live in condo style apartments and we're on the bottom floor so I typically use the little yard between my apartment and my neighbors apartment for things like letting the kids play, letting them use the pool (before my upstairs neighbor complained about that...), decorating for holidays, and my first thought was to put the bags in front of my bedroom windows. I wasn't super happy with how they looked there anyways but the fact that my neighbor was so snotty about it really bugged me.
We have a nice planter box that my hubby built for me last year that I grow a lot of stuff in and we've gotten nothing but compliments on so he's going to build a box to go around the bags so that they're more "aesthetic".

  • @mflowers929 That is totally wild!  They obviously know nothing about actually growing pot.  Lol.  Reminds me of someone we did live with who did grow outside and unsurprisingly found the plants ripped out of the ground one day.
  • @ponyoisfun right? lol. I've contemplated growing some to help with my ADHD until I can get on meds (it's legal and I have access to seeds for a strain that would be helpful), but I 110% would be growing INSIDE
