I wish you everything good on this journey, I recommend reading, not as like, a tutorial or something, but to give you confidence. They explain the supply and demand, the normal expectations for breastfeeding, sometimes giving tips for dealing with negative people. Tell your partner what you want to do and ask for (gentle) encouragement.
Breastfeeding can be hard, but mostly early on. Later it’s much easier. But moms worry about supply, if baby is getting enough, they hear the comments from well meaning but rude friends or family.
Baby at 6 weeks and 6 months and 16 months will only drink 3-4 oz of breastmilk. The composition changes to fit baby’s needs. Nourish yourself, remember to drink fluids (got to drink them to make them!) and I love resources like Kellymom (website and Facebook group) and in-person groups like La Leche League. Help is out there, please don’t be afraid or ashamed to use it.
All to say, fed is best. If breastfeeding isn’t for you, for whatever reason, the formula shortage will likely peak in the fall and start getting better. The oversight committee is already investigating this and I assume the solution will happen by December. If we were due sooner I might worry more. I also saw tricks on Amazon (website not app) for changing your country code to Canada, (no shortage there) and they will ship to the US.
