Pelvic Rest at 20 Weeks

I've been placed on pelvic rest at week 20 until at least my next sonogram at week 28 because of a low lying placenta... I've been told no strenuous activities, exercise, or intercourse (or orgasm). As a fairly active person I've gone into mild panic mode. I love to golf and now that that's off the table for summer (I live in a 4-season climate). I'm in a bit of a frenzy to find new hobbies/activities that can keep me busy while my husband continues to hit the links. Anyone experience the mental struggles of pelvic rest or have any advice, hobby suggestions, etc.?

  • Hi knottie and welcome to the board. Normally, we try to discourage "one-off" posts because they tend to clutter the board. However, this is a topic that enough other women might be able to relate to or have input to that I think it's OK. However, I encourage you to take a look at the read 1st thread, and also stop by the introduction thread and introduce yourself!

  • Pelvic rest sounds hard! Hope the weeks fly past for you. Do you like being crafty? I like to sew, knit, watercolor and embroider. Maybe you could make something for your baby? Or try low-key gardening? Plant some flowers, pull weeds and just have something else to focus on? I like having my hands in the dirt and pulling weeds is really satisfying. My last pregnancy, I made it my mission to rid my inlaws front lawn of dandelions. I could sit with my dandelion weeding tool and enjoy the sun while still feel productive 😅 or if you're like me and have a TON of pictures from the last 10 years, you could make them into photo books and print them. I've thought about doing photobooks but so far haven't found the time to do so. I can always find better uses for my time, like updating myself on the going-ons on the bump😜
  • @babywiik hahaha at your last comment 🤣 photo books are a ton of work!! I was planning to do one for every year of my son’s life but of course forgot when he turned one so I did one just before he turned two as a Christmas present to our parents and a third copy for us. I swear it took most of my Saturday to figure out who to go through, how many pages I need, which pictures I want in there, in which order, with what background. I was so grumpy by the end of it 😅 but it did turn out great and everyone loved it!
  • @newbabymama27 so.much.work! And of course I'm too picky to do the autofill option. I love that I can fit so many more pictures in them and they take up way less space than a tradition photo album.
