Hip pain

Is anyone else having terrible hip/sciatic pain at night? I’m normally a side sleeper so I’m used to propping my knees and ankles but even adding another pillow behind me isn’t helping. I woke up today feeling like I’ve been dangling by one leg all night and it makes it impossible to sleep for anything but a short stretch and it gets worse as the night progresses. I think after the first couple of hours when I was out really hard, I woke up like every 45 mins at the most for the rest of the night, I feel so unrested. It’s got to be the hormones, right?

Re: Hip pain

  • I'm having more neck and lower back issues, but have you tried any yoga or stretching for the hips? I have really tight hips with poor flexibility and I've been using yoga and some strengthening exercises for a few years now. Not sure if that would help or make it worse. Or maybe a heating pad on your hip?

  • I’ve been trying to stretch more and making sure that I’m walking to stay loose. It’s been a bit better thankfully. I love yoga, but kind of fell off the wagon with it over the last year because I was having trouble modifying for my wrists. I’ve just gotten some prenatal yoga to try out this week and I’m hoping it will be a little easier on my wrists to begin with. Do you have any specific ones you like?
  • I have wrist trouble with yoga too! Yoga with Adrienne has some hip specific ones on you tube I've done. She has some really gentle and short practices.
  • I did too. I would suggest going to your OBGYN. Turned out I strained a muscle in my hip. Or at least calling your OBGYN nurse.
