Sub chorionic Hematoma

Had some heavy bleeding a couple days ago, so the doctor had me come in for an ultrasound. Based on my last menstrual cycle I should be 6 weeks and 3 days but he said baby was measuring small at 6 weeks. He also said the hematoma is what’s causing the bleeding and I’ll be going back next week for another ultrasound to monitor it. Has this been an issue for anyone else? Kinda freaking out.

Re: Sub chorionic Hematoma

  • I have one too and my MD says it typically resolves itself.

  • Had this happen except I didn’t see any bleeding when I was pregnant with my first. I tripped and fell on one knee right before I learned I was 8wks pregnant. When they found it at the first ultrasound, I was out on pelvic rest immediately, and it resolved on its own around the beginning of second trimester and I was able to resume normal activity. My son turned out just fine and is a very healthy 9 year old now. It is scary and stressful but try your best to stay calm, it’s easier said than done I know.
  • I have one that was referred to as small. I was told it should resolve on it's own or I may experience a little bleeding and to let them know. Nobody seemed concerned and said everything else looks healthy and normally developing. The only follow up mentioned was they'd see if it resolved on its own at the anatomy scan. They also saw a spot on an ovary that might be calcification from my age haha. They will also try to get a better look during the anatomy scan.
  • thank y’all so much! Definitely feeling better. For some reason my dr did NOT make me feel good about it. Maybe bc measuring small? Anyways, thank you 😊
  • I had my first ultrasound today and was told I have a small one as well. The tech said it should resolve on its own but my doctor will have me come in for more frequent monitoring. Baby looks good and on track though!

I got diagnosed with one yesterday, had a full meltdown after my visit. Nerves were through the ROOF. I’ve experienced very light spotting for about 5 days total, resolved for 2 days as of now. I go back next week for a repeat ultrasound. Very scared, but more calm and hopeful after doing some research. I have been assured that mine is small and will likely resolve on its own. Praying for the best!
  • I was told the same thing I have a very small SCH and that they will check on it at the anatomy scan but I've never had any bleeding or spotting so I'm hoping it resolved itself
  • I had one with my last pregnancy - it was big and lasted nearly the entire pregnancy. I wasn’t allowed to exercise or have sex but other than that just extra ultrasounds to monitor it and it didn’t affect anything else! Very scary at first when I thought I was miscarrying but then just turned out to be a bit of a nuisance!

Thanks for sharing your stories everyone! I just found out Friday (at 7w1d) that I have a SCH. It was a bit of a scare because right before I was leaving the house to go to an ultrasound appointment (the timing was very lucky) I realized I was bleeding. My doc saw a small SCH on the scan and I was told the same thing that it should resolve itself in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, I’m on ‘pelvic rest’ and supposed to take it easy. I have several friends that have had them too and they went in to have perfectly healthy pregnancies so I’m trying to stay calm and hopeful!
  • Wow what a relief seeing others with same news. I actually wasn’t told about mine by the radiologist at the time of my ultrasound. Then my doctor called to tell me. She said it’s 1cm big and not concerned but said be “gentle with everything”. Trying not to stress as well but never great news. A friend of mine went on aspirin for hers. Looking forward to my next ultrasound when more now.
  • update: went back after 10 days for another ultrasound and my doctor said the clot has gone down significantly in size, and doesn’t seem too worried now. She just said to take it easy and hopefully it’ll be gone by my 12 week appt.
Currently 9 weeks. Praying for y’all!
  • So I'm 11 weeks today. It's been 3 weeks since my first appointment with my doctor and on the ultrasound was a very small SCH. They didn't seem worried with how small it was and said it'd be gone with in two weeks. Last night I had brown blood in underwear and when I wipe and same this morning. I'm worried and waiting to call on when they open up to get advice. Has this happened to anyone else I never had it with my first and I do have slight cramping. But I'm also bloated and gas so I don't know if it's from that or the bleeding
  • I had brown blood around 7 weeks which is why I went in for my appt and they found the clot. They didn’t seem worried bc of the color it was. Said it was probably old and could have been from anything.
Hopefully they can get you in for an appt today! Good luck and keep us posted. I have my 12 week appt on the 31st and really hoping it’s gone by then.
  • I had a super tiny one. Never had any spotting or anything. My doctor went back and forth and went ahead to give me a Rhogam shot, as I'm O- blood.
