Pregnancy-related Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

edited May 2022 in November 2022 Moms
Anyone else experiencing pins-and-needles or a numbing sensation in their hand? Apparently, approximately 30-60% of pregnant women get this odd sensation. It usually goes away with pregnancy. Half of my right-hand gets tingly, especially first thing in the morning. There is no pain or swelling, just an annoyance. I have notified my midwife but I'm reading that it's very common.
I am almost 12 weeks along.

@ravenhairedgirl83 I had carpal tunnel with my first pregnancy. Unfortunately, mine did hurt. I woke up several times near tears because the pain was severe. It didn’t go away right after delivery - it took a few weeks for me. I really hope yours just stays the pins-and-needles!

I did have several exercises and stretches that would give some relief. You can lookup nerve flossing for carpal tunnel and see if it helps!

  • I had the worst carpal tunnel in my first pregnancy! One of my first pregnancy symptoms this time around was my wrist hurting constantly--I was wearing my carpal tunnel brace when I got my first positive pregnancy test this time lol. You can buy braces at most stores and they are very handy.
