Large Uterine Fibroid at 23 Weeks

I have a very large uterine fibroid (about the size of a grapefruit) and I’m 23 weeks pregnant. Is anyone experiencing this or have experience(s) with being pregnant and having a very large fibroid? I am measuring much larger due to this and I’m getting annoyed by people’s comments on “what a big baby I have” etc. as well as being extra uncomfortable as the baby continues to grow.

Re: Large Uterine Fibroid at 23 Weeks

  • Hello! I have 3 really large ones too. My “bump” started showing early because of the fibroid growth. And now at 23 weeks pregnant, I look like I’m about 30 something. Usually, the babies take all the blood away from the fibroids, so I’m sure baby is growing well. My doc said my fibroids are degenerating coz the baby’s competing (and winning) for the blood supply; the little champion that he is ☺️. Anyways, people are usually kind and nice to pregnant women, especially when the bump becomes obvious. So I’m taking advantage of it and fortunately, we get to do this for a longer period coz we have big bumps early! people offer seats, we’re  allowed to cut lines if we look very tired, everyone is nicer… hang in there mama! We’re past halfway there!

Yes I have a little grapefruit too! I may actually have 3-4 smaller ones as well. Doctor says it’s normal and hopefully they will dissolve but even if they won’t they will leave them alone and baby is fine. I’m 22 weeks and “presenting” like 28. On Sunday some lady said “so big” with 4 months to go. Rude! 🙄 I figure it’s just another example of people being busy bodies and to just ignore it. Glad for this post and thank you for sharing! I find that lots of walking alleviates pain. Sitting too much makes it worse. Hope that helps!
