Please, don't always judge parents for fat kids

My ss is definitely fat, I am sure he is actually obese.  We have him every other weekend and one night a week.  We can only do so much.  I am sure people assume he is our child FT when they see us out, and think we are awful parents.  It's his FT home that makes him this way...we try!!

    Yes and No.  I honestly get very paranoid when we are out in public with him.  I feel that people are judging us all the time for letting him get like that, and I know it's not our fault.

    Can you talk to his FT family about this. They are setting him up for health problems.

    Honestly, why are you worried about what other people think of YOU? Love your kid, do the best you can to teach him about good nutrition and exercise, and don't worry about what other people think of you. I'm sure your SS picks up on the fact that you are embarrassed by him -- that's just as damaging to him as junk food.

    I'm not embarrassed by him...that's not what I said at all.  I feel bad that we can't do more.  We teach him about nutrition and xercise, and get him out doing things.  I just don't like the dirty looks I get from other people.   It actually makes me angry, not embarrassed.
