Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
Thank god this thread is today, because WTF. Bear with me for a rant:
I found out today that after announcing my pregnancy to my classmates earlier this week, some of them have grouped together and said some not so nice things about me and are upset with my situation.
Background: I am an old(er) student at 38, so most of my classmates are in their 20s. I graduate from veterinary school in 2 weeks, but am staying at my current institution as an intern starting in June. This internship is a highly coveted and very competitive specialized internship, and some of them were butthurt they didn't get it, even though I have years more of experience than they do.
It mostly boils down to jealousy imo, but in their minds they think it isn't fair that I get to keep this position because "I won't complete the entire internship" because of maternity leave *eye roll*. I am a borderline workaholic, and have offered to take some rotations at home during maternity leave so I fulfill the entire time I would have if I didn't take maternity leave. The department of course told me that's ridiculous, and to please enjoy my maternity leave because it's there for a reason! They are being very supportive, but of course no one sees that side.
I guess I'm just disappointed because I've encountered the first people who aren't excited for me. But also, why is the underlying assumption that once you have a kid you become a worthless employee? I can't wait to show them all how it's done with a baby under my arm, but seriously, WTF.
So it's a student who's been doing nothing all semester who is traditionally "one of the good kids" on student council and such but doesn't do my work. I don't lose sleep over it, I put in a zero. Well now she's failing and has said my class is too stressful.... Yesterday and today they've had 40 minutes to do work and catch up on work. She still did not pass anything in... I'm having a sit down meeting with guidance and her in 15 minutes to help come up with a plan to catch her up.

@dvmmomma Wow. Jealous little people will always be jealous little people. They need to grow up.
I coughed wrong, and it hurt my left oblique/ribs so I could hardly sleep. A single cough. Not like last time a long time ago when I had the most violent coughing fit of my life. That one felt justified.
Babies can put their feet in their mouths. I can’t even cough without hurting myself.
I did yard work over the weekend to help get up some old logs and things from when trees had been taken down, we’re going to do a big burn pile then seed so we’ll get some grass. I ended up getting poison oak all of my arms and stomach😩
I’ve never had poison ivy or oak issues before and I’ve definitely encountered it so I guess now I’ll have to be really careful. The itching is killing me even with cream and calamine lotion.
@kboydbowman cascarones are egg shells filled with confetti or flour- my friend from NJ said that wasn't a thing where she was so it might be more of a Mexican tradition that seeped into TX, not sure! But the kids have had them all week and there's confetti everywhere
@jhysmath I've got so many like that- the work in my class is not hard, I provide several "let's catch up" days and yet I'm still entering zeros. Sorry you're having to have a meeting over that
@lucyg00cy my husband loves to hunt and has a pretty cool looking scar on his back from accidentally getting into some poison oak in the woods 😅 calamine probably would have prevented that.
My WTF- my MIL and SIL just tested positive for COVID and are feeling pretty under the weather. They were just over here for Easter. I got my 3rd vaccine at the very beginning of this pregnancy so I hope I’m okay. My toddler is unvaccinated but thus far has been negative. Im definitely stressing out.

Get a hold of Tecnu if you have it in your area! It is specifically formulated to clean off oils from poison ivy and poison oak!
Today has been one of those days where I have been busy all day and got a ton done, yet my to do list has grown by significantly more items than it has shrunk by.

I am so annoyed, I wore long sleeves the whole time except for right at the end where I got hot and thought I would be ok to move to a tank top. Famous last words! I’ll try some Benadryl and hope it doesn’t scar, right now it looks pretty gross I’m not going to lie 😳

@ashking0922 my high school students are ridiculous today too, we have 2 days until spring break and it can't come fast enough.
For me... I'm sure I'll have one soon because guidance called and said they need to speak with me during break.... Which of the kids have I upset now?
@jhysmath I hate getting called into meetings with like zero context.
haters gonna hate. Screw them.
@ashking0922
what are cascarones?
