1st Trimester

Drs appointments, high anxiety

I am 9 weeks pregnant after a really traumatic third trimester loss. I have one appointment but they haven't made another until mid May. Is there any way to just ask to come in to get heartbeat monitored? I just am so paranoid and can't continue just waiting so long.

Re: Drs appointments, high anxiety

  • It is very normal to go in every 4 weeks.  You can call the office and tell them your concern, but they may not do anything.  Those 4ish weeks will go fast.  Try not to worry and stress yourself out, as that is not healthy for you either.

  • Have you considered purchasing an at home doppler?? That way you could hear the baby's heartbeat in between ob visits and put your worries at ease.
  • I am so sorry for your loss - I imagine, especially if this is the same OB who you were with through you loss, that they will be happy to accommodate additional monitoring appointments. I asked for additional checks at various points during my rainbow pregnancy and the doctors were happy to accommodate.
  • @mrs-kay929 that is beyond the WORST advice to give her.  The at home ones cause way more stress than benefits.  My doctor said they have more calls coming in because moms can not find the heartbeat: 1 reason they do not know how to properly used them 2: 12 weeks is the MINIMUM week to use, anything earlier its too soon.  Even in Dr. Offices they have trouble finding it at 12 weeks.

Her best bet is to call the office and see what they say.
  • @harpseal135 sheesh, my mistake. I just knew they were sold and have seen people use them before.
