    Be warned, longgggggggg rant ahead.

I spent 3 hours on the phone to an airline last week and another 4 hours just then trying to book our flights home & I still have to call them back in a couple of days to finish sorting it out.

We have flight credits left over from a refunded trip booked in June last year. The conditions on the flight vouchers are that I can use portions of them as many times as I want until they're all gone. The first time I used the flight credits seemed straight forward & there were no complications, but when the new flight vouchers were issued they weren't linked back to our original voucher with those terms, so when I booked our flights to visit my parents it started to go down hill. They wouldn't let me use partial flight credits and I argued with them for over an hour before they finally let me split it (after talking to supervisors and managers to confirm). Eventually they agreed and booked our tickets BUT they never issued the residual flight credits and they never sent my DD's ticket! I called back and they sorted it out my DD's ticket & flight credit relatively quickly, but I still never got my new flight credit voucher. They said it could take 5 business days so I didn't fret but last week I still didn't have the flight credit voucher so started ringing to sort it out. 2x last week I was on hold for 1.5hrs before the line cut out. Tonight I was on hold for 2hrs before I got through to someone and spent another 2 hours on the phone with them trying to sort it out. The person who initially booked our flights to visit my parents didn't process it properly and made some weird errors so it took them 1.5hrs to sort that out, then when I tried to actually use it they told me I couldn't book the flights I wanted even though they were available on the website, which meant I was going to have to fork out an extra $1k for flights that were already going to cost me $2.2k and would normally cost us $1.5k all up (but end of school holidays & leaving it late to book so limited flight availability) - the voucher covered half the estimated cost. Normally I wouldn't care about the extra money but my husband doesn't get paid for time off and he had 10 days off for a holiday, where he caught COVID and had to have another 10 days off (because he was still symptomatic after 7 days) and is just about to have another 10 days off to visit my parents with us, so we have burned through most of our savings and couldn't afford that extra $1k. I cried. Proper cried. The lady I was on the phone to managed to get me on the flights I wanted but I have to collect my bags & check them back in, which I am willing to do to save $1k! Not over yet though! I still need to request the car seat for my daughter but I can't do this until my tickets are issued which will take 24-48 hours.

TL;DR: trying to use flight credits that they won't let me use online suck. So does their booking system that lets me book different flights with different conditions online than the booking centre. As well as not being able to request a car seat on the plane online, meaning I have to call again and waste another 3 hours on hold. UGH

  • I had to get on a snowy RV roof today and undo the tarp cover we finished last week because the snow, which isn’t supposed to be here, was making it heavy enough that it was bowing and almost resting on the roof.
It was kind of exciting and I honestly enjoyed the adrenaline, but the scaffolding is done for. We’d have to replace at least 10 pipes at this point and every time we get the tarps up, something happens and we’re either cutting them down in a minor panic (last time) or disassembling them hurriedly so our home doesn’t get crushed. I just want to afford a real, STRONG cover at this point.
Can it hold 3ft of snow across the entire top? Cool, I’ll take it.
  • I’m so mad. My 16 week appt was tomorrow (at 17 + 1) and they just called and told me they don’t take my insurance and it is a $900 estimate. I really really wish they had told me this FIVE WEEKS AGO when I called and asked them to check that my insurance was accepted. Gave them all my info, etc and they assured me it was all good.

Now I have to cancel my appt and figure out wtf I’m going to do. I was switching hospital systems/midwives bc my old midwives stopped delivering at the local hospital and I didn’t think I wanted to drive to the farther hospital.

I’m very sad bc I was really looking forward to hearing baby’s heartbeat/getting checked up on and scheduling my anatomy scan. Also was looking forward to having the question of which hospital /midwives I would be delivering with answered (assuming the appt went well and I liked the midwife/practice). Wahhh 😩

  • @JRae2015 Ugh! That sounds like such a headache. I'm so sorry you have to deal with that. How frustrating! But silver lining is that you now aren't going to be stuck with an office who doesn't stay on top of their stuff.

  • Another insurance rant. I had a wisdom tooth pulled in December and my dentist office just called me and told me that my insurance ran it through medical and since I hadn't met deductible, I'd have to pay full price. My husband has the same insurance and just had 2 extracted last week, so that means we will have to pay for his too. I could understand if we had been put under anesthesia, but we both did local anesthesia. I've also had 2 wisdom teeth pulled before and they were both run through as dental procedures. I will never understand insurance companies.
  • @whitta1015 did they try running it though your dental? Our medical policy excludes wisdom teeth extraction and we had to use the dental benefits. It still cost about $1,000 for all 4 last month, but was way better than the quote before my husband was on my health benefits.
  • I’ve been on the phone all morning with insurance questions that no one can answer. When I call the insurance company it is just some woman looking at the same website I am … which has outdated information listed. I don’t get it. She’s irritated with me for explaining that I know it’s outdated info because I spoke with the midwife today and she doesn’t work at X anymore but instead works at Y and why can’t you tell me if she’s still covered ?!
  • Changing your name is the worst. I got married last summer and still have so many little things I have to change my name for. Social Security and my passport were the easiest. I am a dual citizen and changing my name abroad is so difficult.
  • @laj0217 Unfortunately, they won't run it through dental. I just called the insurance company and the lady said that the policy with my husband's company states that any wisdom tooth extractions or any oral surgery is applied to medical instead of dental. So, that sucks, just because it was an unexpected expense. But at least we will be closer to our deductible should we need anything throughout the rest of the year.
  • @whitta1015 that sucks! Between my husband’s wisdom teeth and this baby, I told my husband we need to save all medical receipts. We might actually spend enough this year to itemize medical deductions on our taxes next year 🙄😩
