    FTM/STM/TTM+: #4

Upcoming Appointments or Results: tomorrow! I finally get to see how everything is going. I'll be sure to come back tomorrow and update.

How are you feeling?: Ugh, dry heaved yesterday, just so tired.

Rants/Raves: rant-I'm really dropping the ball on my kids clothes these days. While their clothes are clean, they're still in laundry baskets, and I need to size up all 3 of them, but I just don't have the energy. Rave-we had my youngest's baptism yesterday and it went well and it feels like I finally have some breathing room to prep for Easter fun and maybe get around to my kids wardrobes...

Questions: anyone else schedule self-care around their Dr appts? I'm going out to eat by myself after my appt since hubs is off for the afternoon on kiddo duty.

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 11/17. 8+4.

    FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM

Upcoming Appointments or Results: 12 week appointment the first week of May.

How are you feeling?: finally a little better. I haven’t taken Unisom and B6 in 3 days and the nausea is only when I haven’t eaten in awhile. I have zofran if I need it but it makes so bloated. I think I’m finally on the upswing 🤞

Rants/Raves: my husband has been having what sounds like palpitations or irregular heart rhythm. I finally got him to go to the doctor, he has a holter monitor now and is having a reaction to the adhesive and probably has to start the process over as he hasn’t had it on since last night.

Questions: I was offered Natera genetic screening. There’s no reason for insurance to cover it and my OB said it would be $150 out of pocket. Has anyone had that and had issues with cost? We were going to do a 15 week ultrasound at the end of May and it’s only 2 weeks after it would be drawn. I’m on the fence which one I want to do.
  • @sejica did that when pregnant with my second. It was my me time, you know you’re a mom when going to the OBGYN is a break 😂

Appts- first one coming up next week- hoping to hear heartbeat

Feeling- exhausted, nauseous- but not so much that I’m laid out like last week. Reminding myself that fewer symptoms isn’t a bad thing.

Rants- feeling bad for my partner who is doing Everything for me and our daughter- rave - his support

Upcoming Appointments or Results: ultrasound 4/20

How are you feeling?: outside of feeling exhausted most of the time, good. Happy that nausea continues to be minimal.

Rants/Raves: my husband is the best. Makes sure my water is always full and that I'm getting enough rest

Questions: I want genetic screening but know my insurance won't cover it. Do I call the doctors office to find out what test and what the cost is? Or insurance?
  • @physiomama22 you would call the Dr office to find out what company/lab they use, and schedule the blood draw. If insurance won't cover it, they all run $100-$175.

@Gingermom15 the free-cell genetic tests can detect downs as well as trisomy 13, 18, and some other genetic abnormalities. The us can detect downs and trisomy 18, and potential future growth problems. They are both helpful for identifying early markers for downs, but have different insights for other potential problems. I would personally prefer to know sooner for the genetic stuff, and wait til the 20 week anatomy scan, because I want the maximum options if we need to terminate (we would carry downs to term, but there are others we might decide differently). However, I'm older (39)and haven't had any growth problems (cord/insertion) that would be detected at a 15 week us.

@lilsWed174741 it's so nice when they step up, try not to feel too bad for them ;)

  • @sejica my first OB appointment and ultrasound with them is the same day, at times too awkward to only take a half day, so I'm taking a sick day and treating myself to lunch in between. There's a pretty well known Boston bakery (Flour) near my OB so last time I got myself a treat after each appointment, which I'll likely do again.

  • @sejica I forgot to mention the scan at 15 weeks is elective to find out the sex and not a diagnostic, we did this with our other two. I will have several scans later due to my son being IUGR but not until closer to the third trimester.

My OB basically offered it only for us to find out the sex, we have no risk factors and it would be purely “just because”. It is a great tool if risk factors are present and the parents would need to terminate, the earlier the better if needed. I would personally carry to term.

I would like to have both but I also would like to work as little as possible and save the money lol hard decision because I’m impatient and would love to know sooner, but also we can take our kids to the scan
  • @sejica wooo appointment! That first appointment is such a relief. Built-in self-care makes sense to me! I've been just taking the whole day off the day of appointments so that I can just relax after.
@gingermom15 yay decreased nausea! I hope it stays down for you. I hope everything is good with your husband and it's nothing serious.
@lilsWed174741 glad your symptoms are treating you a bit better.
@physiomama22 you might be able to do self-pay directly with the company. I haven't talked to my doctor about the screening yet, but I've seen online that many people have paid $250 or less doing self pay directly with Natera. Not sure about other companies.

Upcoming Appointments or Results: first appointment with my actual OB on 4/22 now that we've graduated from the RE

How are you feeling?: pretty good. Skipped my morning class today since I couldn't get to sleep until after 2am, so that's always fun.

Rants/Raves: my week is a little less chaotic than it was originally going to be because my hours got cut at work, which is totally fine by me because it was going to be a loooooong week. I'm counting down the next two weeks because we get to tell my husband's side of the family on the 24th, and then I'll feel comfortable telling friends and others I interact with regularly. Probably won't do a social media announcement until after the first trimester, though.

Questions: anyone have any tried and true ways to help with the insomnia? I'm already taking unisom at night for nausea, but meds that are supposed to knock me out tend not to knock me out.

Upcoming Appointments or Results: We have our first "real" scan and appointment on 4/20

How are you feeling?: Exhausted, cranky/emotional, and sooo nauseous

Rants/Raves: My parents were in town this weekend (my relationship with my mother is a huge stressor in general), and I'm just completely drained, on top of having a long, rough week at work. All I want to do is snuggle my animals and sleep for days lol

Upcoming Appointments or Results: Had my OB nurse intake appt today and next dr appt is May 4th.

How are you feeling?: Up and down and left and right and all sorts of ways! I haven’t felt very sick since Friday, and that of course has me concerned that something is wrong 😑 Prior MC is such a mind warp. We also have ended up telling a lot of people already who we didn’t intend to tell yet, and that of course makes me more nervous and like we jinxed it.

Rants/Raves: I hate the fat phobia that exists in doctors offices. I “qualify” for an early gestational diabetes test due to my BMI and having had two ‘bigger’ babies (9 lbs 5 oz and 8 lbs 9 oz.)… I’ve never even been close to failing, so it’s just annoying and all based on a bigger body stigma, which has nothing to do with gestational diabetes. Can’t wait until they start the weigh ins too

@fantasyflyte I’ve found that listening to sleep stories on the calm app work well for getting me to sleep!

  • @fantasyflyte, this might be inappropriate, but I've found orgasms to work well for insomnia, especially self administered ones.

@bkk2cville I'm sorry you don't have an easier relationship with your mom. How far away does she live?

@sunshine2417 I'm sorry you're dealing with this already. I'm in a similar boat bmi and baby wise (9.5, 10, 8.25) and it's such a hard thing to have to constantly push back against. My previous bmb had a plus size check in, and I'd love to do that again, though I would be open to other titles (I don't love 'plus size', but I don't have any better suggestions).

  • @sejica They live on the other side of the country, thankfully! But now they're talking about moving here 😬😬😬

Upcoming Appointments or Results: next appointment is April 27th, so once again counting down the days!

How are you feeling?: continued nausea - it comes and goes. Some days I feel 0 nausea and feel great, other days I am constantly trying not to throw up. I’m also starting to be more tired throughout the day where I have to step away from work and lay down.

Rants/Raves: we tell our families on Sunday and I’m SO excited!!
