I need help hiding this pregnancy! I’m six weeks tomorrow and it’s my Mom’s birthday. Our family always drinks wine for special occasions and am not one to shy away from this. So if I do not drink tomorrow I’ll stick out like a sore thumb. I figured I could be sneaky and have my boyfriend drink for me without anyone noticing. BUT I was just told our whole dinner is going to be charcuterie boards and fancy little sandos with various COLD CUTS!! Whyyyy?!!!? I literally don’t know how to go to this dinner and not be incredibly suspicious. I’m very close with my parents so they know I’m not on a special diet or anything (that I could say to not eat the food). They know I’m not sick. And we really want to wait till I’m a little father along to tell them. I’ve got Easter, my Dad’s birthday and my own birthday in the next two weeks. So I really need help finding ways to be sneaky about this during celebrations this month!
Re: Help Hiding Pregnancy!
-soda with a splash of cran and a lime
-I ate a big lunch - I’m not hungry!
Can you say you're on a medication that prohibits you from drinking? I have a tendency to get UTI's and won't drink when I'm on the antibiotics to treat them.
I would definitely eat before going. I love charcuterie, but am being careful about what I eat for the first trimester and don't think I would trust the boards & sandwiches if they may have been out awhile for prepping and then grazing.
I have done a few health & fitness challenges the last few years; no drinking and a strict diet has been part of them. Definitely limited what I consumed when I was out during the challenges. (But also has allowed me to get in the best shape of my adult life and kick a lot of not-so-good habits while making good ones!)
Focus on those little cheese slices, olives, fruits, and nuts, and “Oh, no, honey I filled up on these, can you finish my plate? Just a little sandwich and some soft cheese.”
If there’s a chance to bring your own “wine” you could get some juice and fill up a screwtop wine bottle with it. Say it’s a sweet red—most taste like grape juice anyway! 😂
