Covid and 1st Trimester

I’m vaccinated and boosted but many people that i work with are not. One of my coworkers just tested positive for Covid. I’m around him a lot. Has anyone had experience with Covid in their first trimester? I’m pretty concerned that I might have gotten it from him and I’m worried of what kind of effects it will have on my 7wk pregnancy

Great question for your doctor! I have a coworker who had covid at her 1st tri her and baby are fine. Thats just one example.

I had a mild case of covid when I was 5 weeks back in November. OB wanted me on baby aspirin and is having me do a couple growth scans starting at week 28. Baby has been doing great so far. No concerns.

I would go get tested to give yourself peace of mind. And of course, talk to your doctor about it!

Thank you! Yes I am testing everyday and my first appointment is on Wednesday so I’m going to talk to my doctor then. I was just hoping for a non-horror story to put my always paranoid mind at ease so you have helped tremendously!

@knottiedb8bc1e0bba11b41 one other I just wanted to note was that I had only gotten my 2nd dose of the vaccine in late August so you may be even better off being boosted too. I'm no medical expert though.

Also I have a friend that got covid around the same time I did. I believe there was some concern with his size or growth at some point and she did have some complications during birth (placenta abruption) but I don't know if you can definitively show that her getting covid during pregnancy caused these problems. Not trying to scare you, but it may happen. Her baby is happy and healthy despite the complications!

This is a bit of a late response but I’m 12 weeks pregnant and sadly just tested positive for Covid (as did my husband and we think our 22 month old has it too). I’ve been so careful so am feeling really upset about it, but I guess it was inevitable to get it at some point. I spoke to several mamas to be who had it in the first trimester, and there were no problems for them or their babies. My OB office/ family doctor also said they don’t know of anyone who has lost a baby due to Covid and that it will be ok. And my doctor dad did some research and found some medical studies to show that Covid may not even cross over into fetuses and wasn’t detected in the brain etc. during the first trimester. Hope this helps anyone looking at this post…. Currently resting and feeling like I have a bad head cold (and my little one had a high fever / diarrhea for a day and is now basically back to normal)… wish me luck and good luck to anyone in a similar situation ❤️

I’m not vaccinated and got Covid from a vaccinated person. I had fatigue and headache but pulled thru.

Just tested positive as well and I'm 10 weeks today. Hoping for no side effects regarding the baby but I'll be calling my OB when they open so fingers crossed!

First time getting preggers here. I just tested positive for COVID today and I’m in week 5. The doctor said I should be okay and just take Tylenol, benedryl and offered more safe options to treat my stuffy symptoms. She said to go to the hospital if I had breathing issues. I am triple vaxxed. I also talked to a friend about her sister being fine getting COVID while pregnant.

Same! Was positive at about 5 weeks. I read somewhere that our immune system can be lowered while pregnant which would explain why it can be easier to contract while pregnant. I'm high risk & spoke to my maternal fetal medicine specialist. The only long term effect she was potentially concerned about was preclampsia. She suggested the low-dose aspirin regimen and said that would lower my chances of having issues with that. I also wound up going to the hospital because my fever was elevated and wouldn't break with Tylenol. There they gave me fluids and eventually it came down. They also gave me the antibody infusion. Their OB strongly suggested it. I have no idea if that will help but I decided to trust their suggestion. Anyone else get the infusion?
Also FATIGUE!!!

Hi there,

I am double vaccinated (it has been just shy of a year) and not boosted. In January my husband caught Covid, yet I did not, and neither did both kids. Yet, a few weeks ago (around 5-6 weeks with my third) I caught it from work. I am a florist and so the timing of Mother's Day could not have been worse work wise. Yet, I also knew the timing of Mother's Day might have been kismet to take the time off and fully rest to recover. I had it really bad and when morning sickness started to kick in around the same time it was awful. Luckily I work for a union and was able to take 10 days off paid and protected. I did not take anything for it besides a Tylenol here and there for my headaches. Mostly out of fear from a previous chemical pregnancy that I had right after the last time I was sick (with just a flu) and I was taking a lot of cold remedy medication with my migraine medication days before I found out I was pregnant. Even though I quarantined and we cleaned our home often our 4 year old got Covid next and he got over it quickly. My husband and my 12 year old daughter (his stepdaughter) did not get it. Then...my Mom flew into town and told me had "allergies" and actually brought Covid back into our house two weeks after I had it. Now my daughter has had it for the past week and is having a harder time than the rest of us had. So, in a nutshell we have been all in our own spaces as much as possible during the past six weeks...missing work, missing school.

Not the way I imagined bringing in my third pregnancy but I am trying to stay positive. Due to my OBGYN being very busy right now the earliest appointment I could get is June, which will put me at 10 weeks when I finally and hopefully see that everything is going well.

My symptoms are strong so I am just trying to listen to my body and myself for what is right for the time being.

I got COVID the weekend I conceived! My biggest concern is that obviously I wasn't aware I was pregnant at the time, and took the normal medications suggested by my doctor. I also had a lingering lung spasm issue that they initially thought was bronchitis, so I had a chest x-ray, cough syrup with codeine, antibiotics, a strong inhaler, and other cough meds. I have no idea what impact those things could've had but I'm waiting on a callback from my primary and will have my first OBGYN appt next week. I am double vaxxed and boosted.
