I have 3 now (1 of each style) and love them so much!!!! So so comfy, stylish, easily adjustable, lightweight, beathable, 7lb to 45lbs with not infant insert needed, quick to put on/take off. I could go on and on. Way way way better than my ergo baby and stretchy wrap I tried out first.
  • Loading the player...
  • I love my moby wraps for little babies.
    • My first I wore until 7ish months in one.
    • My second got booted from it before she was 3 months old, they don't work well for big babies.
I have a Ergo Omni/360? Mesh with a newborn insert.
    • I didn't love this for when you need the newborn insert.
    • It was imperative that I could back carry with my second so this was used likely before I was supposed to with her on my back. (Heavy babies hurt my back to front carry).
    • The forward facing carry wasn't comfortable, so I didn't use it often, I think I only used for pictures when cutting down tress and they were 7 months old at Christmas.
    • The hip carry is useful when your baby needs you to carry them and you need to cook but they throw a fit on your back.
I have a woven Didymos wrap that I got when my second was almost a year.
    •  Between her size and mine the size 6 was a touch too small to get a good back carry. I could do a front cross wrap with her ok.
    • I could get a good tight carry with my then 2 year old for practice because she wouldn't wiggle, but it was harder to get my wiggly almost 1 year old into a tight carry.
    • I'm looking forward to using it with a newborn and learning how to do that well.
I just ordered a Wildbirds Sling
    • They have a really good sale right now so go check them out if you're looking.
    • I like the idea of being able to pop baby in and out without much work.
    • I like that they can also be used in a back carry.
We have a 2 seat bike trailer for when they're at least a year old. I wouldn't put a baby in one from all of the jerking especially when getting up hills, but it's great to go out for a ride with a toddler.

I don't have one but my friend who is a runner has a kid runner  which looks so cool for those who like to run, she likes it so much more than her jogging stroller.
  • Lots of great info @jhysmath!

I don’t have a ton of experience with carriers except one: Infantino flip advanced 4-in-1. It’s very affordable and I’d say it’s a dupe for some of the Ergo carriers, I got it on Amazon. It’s advertised for 8-32 lbs though id say I only started wearing it when spring came around and my son was about 5ish months? It worked great for going out to the store or going for a walk and not having to lug a stroller. My husband also really enjoyed it and found it comfortable even though he had to adjust it quite a bit because he’s very tall and with a larger torso than me. I wasn’t sure if my son would enjoy being in a carrier so I didn’t feel comfortable spending hundreds of dollars on one. As suspected, he wasn’t super attached to me so I never had to babywear him at home while doing housework stuff, he preferred being in a little lounged thing or just rolling around on a playmat. But some babies loooove being on mom all day long and in that case I would do more research and buy something more expensive. My friend had a baby a year ago and also tried this carrier and her baby hated it, but then she also hated every other carrier so my friend returned them all lol. She is not a carrier kind of baby! So it really depends on your baby 🤷🏻‍♀️
  • @babywiik The Happy carriers look nice! Which of the three do you most prefer?
  • @serenity_by_van I prefer the original. The revolution is essentially the same as the original but has a forward facing option. It's a bit bulkier due to being able to change the direction and I rarely use forward facing. The time between when baby is sitting unassisted (6months-ish) and when baby got too heavy was a very short period of time. The original feels a bit more snug around baby's bum and legs which I prefer. Doesn't make a difference safety wise. The onbuhimo is a work I'm progress for me. It doesn't have a waist band which I like but that also means all the weight is on the shoulders and can take time to build up the muscles. I'm planning to use it with this baby so I can start out with a lighter weight child and build the muscles as baby grows. Now that I have all 3, if I was going to buy another one because I wanted a different color, I would only buy the original as Imthats the style I reach for the most. They have a Facebook page which has a lot of good info if you're interested.
  • I have a lillebaby for a structured carrier and used the original ktan when my babies were little. I didn’t love the ktan but used it bc it was what I had. I’m considering buying something else like the wild bird one but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I like my lillebaby for when baby is a little older and for when I need to back carry. I want to be a hardcore baby wearer but in reality I didn’t use them THAT much for any baby. I used the original ergo with my first and used it even more with my second. I got lillebabe for my third but she didn’t love being worn for long periods .
  • My plan is to get a wrap for the newborn stage (either a Moby or Boba wrap) and a standard carrier to use when baby outgrows/gets too heavy for the wrap. Has anyone used the Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier Mini?
  • For DD I loved the Ergo Embrace until she was too heavy for it. Got the 360 and I like the hip carry option and the breathable mesh material, but it’s not as easy to use as the Embrace.

For hiking (and yard work), I can’t recommend the Osprey Poco Plus enough. It’s as comfy as a regular hiking pack, it has plenty of room for diaper stuff and food, and DD LOVES it!

For the twins I’m looking at the Weego for the first 4-6 months and the TwinGo for after that. I do have some trepidation about double-carrying, as my pelvic floor never got back to 100% after my first birth, and I’m afraid carrying two babies at once will do more harm than good.
  • With my first I used the moby stretchy wrap in the beginning. My husband loves to use the baby bjorn very easy to take on and off alone . Structured - comfortable. I'd recommend!
  • Hi @kailyn2108 - please make sure to stop by the introductions thread and introduce yourself!

  • Less than $30 and my son lived in this thing. You can hold baby and get it on at the same time. My husband has very very broad shoulders and has a very hard time finding a good fit and it worked awesome for both of us. No complicated clips and is very lightweight.
  • Any recommendations for a softer carrier that works for plus sized moms? We used a becco gemini with my oldest and I loved it and will use it again, but I'm looking for something a little less structured for those early days. I was thinking of the Boppy ComfyFit but open to suggestions.

@fluffy1187 I am a plus sized mom and the moby wraps work well for me. I love them in the early days. I also just bought a sling through wildbirds in their "extra long" for plus sized moms hoping that I will like that too.

ETA --- follow plus sized babywearing on fb and Ig they have lots of good knowledge and make you feel empowered.
